    I have some ram brakes down in the basement that I need to put on, and this will help with the booster / master cylinder situation. Thanks!

    I read somewhere that 2012+ JKs already come with a 1 1/16” MC. It was the older models that came with a 1” MC.

      Some do. Not all. I have a 15 and it didn’t come with it.

    You can also upgrade your JK / JKU with stock JL / JLU brakes. They bolt right on. Go from single piston to dual with factory parts.

      That’s definitely an option. The mopar kit that makes them even larger than that is a good option for a factory jeep. It uses ram 1500 brakes. But this is an easy fix for people that can’t get the J8 kit from Mopar (for one ton swaps)…it’s always sold out. But this modification will also work really well for factory Jeeps that just want a better brake feel.

      @@WarPaintOffroad gladiator brakes are just as big or bigger then the bbk or terraflex kit, which just uses 1500 brakes.

    Great video and thanks for the info! I followed the link and ran the part number but it gave a list of master cylinders with a 1" bore, not the larger. Is the one you are referring to the mopar specific? Thanks!

    So, 2012 manual transmission, doing a stock to JL caliper swap, this should provide the upgraded brake performance without replacing the booster?

    • @WarPaintOffroad

      Easily. It would be great.

      Further research today indicates 2012 and up came with the HD master cylinder. Thoughts?

    This should have no issue with working with manual transmission

    • @WarPaintOffroad

      It wouldn’t be a problem at all.

    Is there a way to tell if your JK already has one of these?

    • @WarPaintOffroad

      You’d have to pull it off and look at the part number on the bottom. If you were going to do that, I’d have a replacement ready. You can always return it. Unfortunately they look the same. So no way to know until you get a look at the bottom.

    So this will work on a 2007 Rubicon?...Glad I found this video, someone shared it on a facebook group page. I have upgraded my stock brakes to Powerstops Big Brake kit, although they do better than stock, and I believe the master cylinder is weak and going bad, I just need another upgrade that doesn't break the bank. This looks like my solution..Thanks

      It will work! As long as it’s a Jku. Hope it helps!

    Seeing as you are using Ford disc brakes why don't people use the Ford master cylinder and booster?

    • @WarPaintOffroad

      Ford uses a hydro boost system. It’s easier to do it this way. Still works great.

    I am right in the middle of this myself on my 13 jku. Just tried the 09 Durango MC, it bolts up and just needed one brake port reducer to connect to the brake lines. But it is leaking from the reservoir so I am returning it and can't say if it would be a good option or not, but it is 1.25 bore.
    Thanks for posting on this option. Do you get decent pedal pressure using the optional big brake MC?

    • @WarPaintOffroad

      That’s good to know. The pedal pressure is almost the same as factory. Tbh, the Jku I did it in was a 2007 and had a booster with lots of age and miles on it. But compared to my newer Jku with the mopar j8 kit…there wasn’t a noticeable difference at all.

      @@WarPaintOffroadI went ahead and bought the Dorman brand of this master cylinder at the local AAW parts store, its installed and actually works better than I thought it would. Just wanted to say thanks for posting this. 👍

    I could use this to upgrade my 2020 gladiator brakes. Factory style rotor and calipers?

    • @WarPaintOffroad

      This won’t apply to the JT. You have upgraded brakes from the factory. This is for JK’s.
