@John Smith Ex military makes excellent officers.. just not standard patrol officers.. unfortunately to be on the swat teams you have to be a patrol officer for a certain time period.
@@Austin-id3qx lol apparently not, if you can't listen too your higher ups (which is the whole point of the military by the way) then you shouldn't even be in the military or police)
Being local LE in the area, I'd like to shed light on this. Basically the facts are: The suspect unloaded into that Constables front office a couple days before. The constables office obviously put out all available information on the guy that they had. Couple days later they believed they had an idea where he was expected to be, and clearly from camera footage the car he was driving. They contacted our SWAT team, HPD, knowing they had a general idea of where he was and he made multiple threats on social media before and after that he was not going to jail. SWAT was on the area of where he was expected to be, but HPD SWAT was not primarily responsible for locating him. A Precinct 4 Constable K9 Officer located the suspect in the area because he was in the same car he used to shoot up the office. Pursuit ensues. With the parade going on and the length/distance the pursuit covered, an HPD Chief ordered SWAT to take over and end it. For reference, the suspect was located generally on the Southeast area of Houston. This ended up on the very North side. By the time SWAT boxed him in, dozens of Officers from Constables, HPD, and other agencies were involved. This is not to discredit those other agencies, but the crossfire situation that was created was almost entirely because of the patrol officers and outside agencies that ended up participating in the felony traffic stop. The SWAT Officers themselves train for these exact scenarios and communicated that to begin with. Again, I don't want to knock other officers for doing their jobs, but had the shooting portion of this incident only involved SWAT, it probably would have been one of the most well executed maneuvers based on current Law Enforcement tactics.

TH-cam doesnt like guns, violence, or really any news coverage for that matter unless you are fortunate enough to have a larger channel that YT will ignore
The usual companies don't want their ads running alongside certain content. Google just does the easy thing of saying 'alright, we wont have you run ads on this one then'. Big channels get around this by being the ones who supply their own ad network, removing google from the equation entirely.
It's astonishing to me, how many different swat officers yelled at those two patrol officers to get back and to move, and yet they still just stood there
They 100% are the ones that fired the second burst of shots too. If you watch the full helicopter clip you can see a shell casing fly from where they are and roll
Yea, those patrol guys wanted a piece of him too. They didn’t want to be left out. After all, they began the pursuit so they wanted some of that action. But they should have followed orders.
I like how he had the door open ahead of time and kept it open with his foot while the car came to a stop. You could tell he was focused on his target and had trained to do just that. Keep that funding going!
I also noticed the door came completely open. Like horizontally instead of the slight angle on most cars. I wonder if that's specialized to their vehicles?

So many critical incidents go bad because, among other things, nobody can hear a fucking thing anyone is saying over the wail of nine cop cars. Seems like a really stupid TTP to leave the sirens going, but stopping to turn it off manually wastes precious seconds. Just make the thing shut off in park.
The levels of training really show. The SWAT guys have a clear head and communicate perfectly. It's just another day at work for them. The patrol officers still have training yet the situation was too much for them.
@@victor_lar yeah, but they were real stupid not realizing that they had SWAT also in the line of their fire. Even after being told to back up by the SWAT guys prior to the suspect reaching again for his weapon.
@@Eldot5 who was stupid in this one? The patrol officers covering the suspect or the SWAT officers walking into fucking crossfire on their own? There was no need for them to walk through the line of fire at all. The patrol officers and the other SWAT guys had a perfect angle on the suspect and were able to see him, his hands, his head and his gun. The SWAT guys seemed to be too full of themselves in this situation and didn't want to accept help from "mere" patrol officers. By doing that they created a dangerous situation. Instead of communicating with each other they only yelled at the patrol officers really
As a former combat veteran myself, I can tell you right now that the SWAT officers absolutely did a beautiful job terminating the target and securing the scene. However.....those damn patrol officers were 100% wrong in the way they handled their job. Their job is to set up a 360 degree perimeter and back-up SWAT (if SWAT calls upon them to do so). Otherwise they should have gotten the fuck out of the damn way. That was some danger close cross fire.
@@Eihort if target fixation is the issue, then they have some real issues. Situational awareness is critical for the negation of friendly fire and innocent people getting caught in between gunfire. "Target fixation" = failed training and poor instincts.
@@daeshfaster8883 I think we can all agree that "De-funding the police" is nonsense and emotional stupidity. In fact, we need to do the opposite. The standard of patrol officers is a joke all over America and I'm not talking about just the murderous corrupt ones! Contrary to believe Biden wants to give them more money for training not defund!
The crossfire had to have been the patrol officers not listening to the SWAT team who I'd assume would have highest authority on scene. They need to find who did that and find a way to fix it.
I think you’re right, I don’t understand why the hell the Patrol officers looked at them like deer in headlights, but they were getting yelled at like crazy to move back and the patrol officers just stared at the Swat Guys the whole time. I now realize, 3 different Swat Officers yelled at the Patrol officers to move and get back, they listened to none of them. Then the 4th Swat Officer tells them to watch their cross fire and 2 seconds later the patrol officers shoot and hit the Swat Officer in the wrist with Cross fire
Some of the patrol officers are not HPD officers. It is clear some are Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Constables. Many agencies patrol in and around metropolitan Houston.
The crossfire was a natural result of the need to box the suspect's car in. They had to pull patrol cars in from both directions to block it. The turd- oops I mean suspect- just got out with a rifle and forced a lethal response before the occupants of those blocking cars had a chance to get out and move to better angles.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how every single one of these dudes' names SOUND like they're on a badass SWAT team? Like, it sounds like the character list from an 80s over-the-top B-grade action flick.

Holy shit, I was part of the veteran's parade, marching for my high school's marching band. We heard about the incident and hoped that won't interfere the parade. Soon after we finished, we heard that the suspect is shot. I really appreciate HPD for their hard work and dedication. It seems like the cops SWAT was yelling at to back up and stay out of the way so they can handle it were the one who shot the second time...ignoring the SWAT members commands and putting other SWAT members at risk

I have 8 years of military experience and one thing I notice from so many of Donut's videos are how bad police are about crossfire and what's behind what they are shooting at. I assuming that this comes down to lack of funds for proper and frequent firearms training like we have in the military. I hope that doesn't also apply to SWAT guys though, especially full timers!
Imagine how frustrated the full time SWAT get when patrol officers show up who don't train for tactical threat response situations and are standing down range from the SWAT
@@T3CH33 That is not how policing works. You still need your manpower and you need to train that manpower -> more funding. SWAT is still a special force, SWAT needs are not patrol needs.

That's because the fire apparatus is always being used during a house fire, so the driver knows to cut the sirens , and go do whatever that department's SOP is for the driver. It'd be very annoying to operate the pump and establish a water supply with a FedQ going off in your ear lmao.
I always used to have to go round the patrol cars knocking off the sirens following pursuits if I hadn't made the arrest. The thing is, when you stop the car, you don't have time to pause and turn off the sirens, the offenders don't give you that luxury, they're nromally off on their toes down the street. Turn off the sirens or catch the bad guys? I always chose the foot chase over the siren......even at 4am in the city....sorry to those I woke up!
Literally every siren controller from the major brands has a park kill wire. It’s just never setup in the south or west for some reason. Most if not all northern departments have it configured.

The SWAT guys seemed to be too full of themselves in this situation and didn't want to accept help from "mere" patrol officers. By doing that they created a dangerous situation. That’s my guess too. The patrol officers weren’t listening to a damn thing SWAT was telling them.

I would enjoy a video on their kit. These officers know from experience how to set up their SBRs.
Thanks for another great video👍
Now those are the kind of cops we need EVERYWHERE. #FUNDthepolice
The cops were playing stupid it was the seat team who finished the job the police almost shot a swat team member
Swat team
Down in Texas they fund the hell outta the police haha… wish every state and city had this kinda tech and resources. Can’t believe the quality of their gear their amazing training, SUVs, All their cameras worked, helicopter had 4K quality of the whole thing. Makes me proud to be from houston. These boys are sick. Just wish this city wasn’t so full of crime. These dudes are active daily.
@@aaronkamakaze2967 for some reason I could see the an ohio swat team with quad NVGS and M4s
@@GovernmentalMoments ya I bet Cleveland and Cincinnati have full time geared up SWAT also. Lots of crime there so gotta be prepared lol. Houston crime has been crazy lately, everyone is strapped down here so shoot outs happen regularly with the cops and in the streets. Luckily it’s mostly thugs shooting other thugs. So if you are not involved in that life, and don’t get in anyone’s face then you are good. But I always ride around with my Walther PDP with the 19 round mag in my center console just in case. And got my 10” AR in the trunk in case shit ever goes down. You never know these days 😂 always gotta be prepared to defend yourself.
That Goodwill looks like what used to the the Circuit City off 249 by WillowBrook Mall.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate just how fucking SCREWED that "Informed Citizen" was when he sprang out of the car?
You have to really try to be that screwed
especially shocks me that even after recieving a dozen or so rounds he still reaches for his gun like wtf do you think you're going to accomplish bro give it up
@@queuedjar4578 Tbh probably doesn’t want to survive in that moment to see the kind of charges he would get from that.
8:35 to 8:40 you can see when he got hit. He got hit at 8:38 when he flinched harder. And he started gripping his weapon different with his left hand. Tough sob and thank you sir.
6 angles. Let’s get it. Thanks donut, bet you were a great part time swat officer!
This is absolutely antithetical to what I should be doing 90 seconds before bed but here I am enjoying every second of it.
Second volley probably came from Patrol officers on the back of the SUV because one bullet skipped and hit the officer in the wrist and Gonzales I think is who yelled "stop firing, were fucking here man"
The black van pulling up with the passenger door opening has got to be the sickest thing I’ve seen on heli footage
I liked how Gonzalez stoped shooting at the perfect time to not hit his A pillar or his vehicle:)
It was that bold headed cop that didn't want move when told by swat that opened fire the second time.
Yeah, I have lived in and around the Houston area for 99% of my life. If you are a bad guy you do not want their SWAT team showing up. If they do and you happen to point a gun at them there is about 0% chance you will end up anywhere you want to be. That being said they have the patience of Job when the situation calls for it.
100% chance when you want to be dead, sewer slide by cop
you just need your sniper team you need your team too silly that's all. This is/was a message the ratio was "1 bad guy" 4+ good guys. & now keep in mind we in a opposite world now
I reckon he ended up exactly where he wanted to be, there's a much greater stigma against killing yourself among black americans, seen as weakness like you're not man enough. So if you can't cope with the suffering of your existence you might as well do some shit to make a cop kill you and be seen to go out in a blaze of glory or even martyrdom in the eyes of the retards on twitter
@@spritemultipack cheers ! This fuvkin world leaves you with no other choice my friend! I mean isn't that how they pulled up found the Americas & killed us black folks for free & just took the land & now charge us to stay on the land they just took. Being born already 2-3 steps behind of course your gonna wanna go out in blaze instead! Seams much more logical
@@zl_JOR9E_lz Black people weren't in North America in the first place. Hell, white people got here before black people did. Everybody pays to live on this land regardless of skin color because neither you nor your ancestors owned it. The only people who did were native Americans, who experienced much worse than black people ever did in the US. You guys act like you were the only group of people in history that was ever oppressed and I'm getting sick of it.
Nice work, thanks Donut & hats off to Huston PD. Although in theory I suppose you can’t have too much firepower, in practice the number of guns at a scene can quickly reach a point of diminishing returns. Sometimes you just need to holster up, grab cover & watch the show.
Houston if ya care
@@heyzeuscreestow9394 touché, I apologize unreservedly.
8:34 Onwards - this Officers discipline, awareness, communication and weapons handling 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Hey Donut, I noticed he was in front of a good will was he trying to buy use body armor? 😂🤣😅
Crossfire shouldn’t have happened, the officer that fired those last rounds needs more training. Everything else was perfectly executed. I am so grateful for what our police do for us daily. 💙
was it though? The swat officer created that crossfire situation himself by walking around behind the target. Then HE yells watch your crossfire. My response would have been "yeah right joker"
swat : “STOP! STOOOOP”
other guy “okay.......jk *pop* *pop* *pop*”
"I don't think I've ever did a video with so many angles"
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID
I like how he describes the angles- It just goes from "Helicopter, _Gonzales_ "
Must be absolutely terrifying being a cop in one of these scenarios.
It should be noted that Constables in Texas, and Houston especially, are not like most other states or cities. They are full fledged Law Enforcement Officers who do traffic stops and respond to calls, not just serve papers like some other places.
Texas is definitely a Hotspot of unique LEO protocols.
Since I moved here I've noticed that in any given location in Texas you've got like 6-7 different levels/layers of law enforcement out and about in public making a vehicular presence: the State Troopers, the county Sheriff's department, your local town/city police department, the Constable's office, unmarked federal agents, the Department of Public Safety. Along the border you've also got Border Patrol. All of these guys have the authority to arrest. Texas is big on SAFETY and I love that so much!
@@unapprovedtruth7116 I worked in the Armored Car business. Several years ago, we had an altercation at a gas station. A guy thought our truck cut him off and "stole" the pump he was going to. Our guard told the guy to back up. When he didn't, our guard drew is weapon. At this point, his partner call 911. within a few minutes, we had Plano, Garland, and Richardson PD, Collin County Sherriff's Dept., a Collins County Constable, a State Trooper, and a DART officer (Dallas Area Rapid Transit - mostly bus and light rail safety, but also work traffic on tollways and HOV lanes). The DART officer was on the President George Bush tollway and was the first arrive. When they hear an armored car is in trouble, everyone shows up.
@@colemanmoore9871 were you pumping gas when the gun was pulled?
@@jagar5580 I was the manager of the armored car company and had to respond to the scene as well. Yes, our guard was pumping gas when the guy came up very aggressively and refused to back up.
The safety discipline @7:49 to 7:53 that's impressive
It feels so odd to me. I would never put my gun back on safety while there’s still a threat for obvious reasons lol
@@scottjohnson926 That would be natural but with this type of training its always safety off, engage, engagement over safety on. They train to think of the safety before they even pull the trigger. Mainly to prevent accidental discharges because these guys have no choice but to brush each other with their muzzles in close situations. Even though its taught to never brush another, it still happens, and it happens a lot.
The hi tech reconstruction crime scene software makes all the difference. Keep up the good work!
Surely Swat takes seniority over patrol automatically in an event where they become engaged? Are there no repercussions for failure to comply with repeated verbal orders to clear the active zone? In this case the suspect was little threat at that point however in a different instance, the distraction might result in someone taking a hit.
No swat just thinks they’ve cooler.
