How I've missed seeing roach/hydra in action. The composition is strong and it's been around since the beginning of sc2! Oh boy... I feel old already. But thanks to you Lowko, I can now imagine a retired Serral playing the piano with one hand and violin in the other!
In my recollection, roach/hydra/corruptor was usually destroyed by void ray/colossus deathballs in WoL. I do not have positive memories of these times
SC1/2 are actually already full of names relating to mythology/religion, such as Thor, Goliath, Valkyrie, Ares (robot in WoL campaign), Odin, Phoenix, Zealot, Templar, Wraith, etc
Also most of the zerg broods: Tiamat, Jormungand, Garm, Grendel, Surtur, Kukulkan...

@@SilverwindWorkshop Although I believe those are names given by the Terrans. The Zerg themselves seem to refer to them by their cerebrate or brood queen's name.
@@ClayInvictus If I remember correctly, Dagon was a cerebrate name vocally introduced by the Overmind in SC1, which is mythological so it works out all around lol

As a very casual Zerg player, DAMN that game 2 was inspiring!
Love the use of hydras. Since sc1 they always felt like the penultimate Zerg unit (as much as lings) but I never liked that they weren't as useful as roaches. Roaches aren't as interesting. Seeing Hydras being used this well makes me like Zerg very slightly
I hate seeing Zerg win. However, my love of the hydralisk (dating to sc1) has made me a fan of the recent patch.
Penultimate? What do you consider the ultimate Zerg unit? Lurkers?

Some of the units are named after mythical creatures: Hydra, Banshee, Colossus, Thor. Makes sense to me to name the maps that way.

The twilight console should have an upgrade that easy and quick that gives sentries a buff or more energy so hallucinations can be used more efficiently. Or sentry Sheild protects the sentry NY like 50% but everyone else the same. So the sentry can go into the front lines

I want to see Serral roll dice in Baldur's Gate 3. Contaminate on Psi storm research. It's like the reverse thunder box AOE trick.

When protoss wins: Has to play around adepts and catch opponent unaware, using clever ways of teleporting in and out of the base which requires an insane amount of focus to do, barely managing to make it work.
When zerg wins: I mass unit and they die :)

I am so glad as a Terran player that Zerg human players do not use Contamination basically _ever_. They could totally change the meta if they do that; more units left at home, more static air defenses needed, etc. to counter regular overseer harassment for this purpose.
would require so much apm to pull off. Feels impossible on top of your regular creep tumors and queen injects, not to mention all the regular stuff your doing.

I think that this is a FIRST TIME I've ever seen the Contamination ability being used in a Pro game.
Serral has used in in recent games vs Maru and other terrans to stop the siege tank production. That was part of his build though to stop the siege tank. This one is a stroke of genius.
I wait for the day Lowko shares a Serral series loss.

You already explained why in a previous video... And honestly, despite your explanation, I just don't get it.
Going for religious names, ok, not a good idea. What one find "cool" (Shiva is cool) might just be offensive for someone else (any Hinduist in the world). With religions, it's generally well accepted the offender IS at fault.
But mythology? Dude, you can't offense anyone with that. At best, Greeks people might be a TAD fed up, but "offended", no.
I just don't understand what is the problem.
Great games, great cast. Super impressed by Serral one more time. MaxPax played really good games and that was some great strategic decisions too (some mistakes imho). But Serral is just in another league, it's almost disgusting.
I think MaxPax should have decided for game #2 to play something "expected" from him, or the macro game (you know you'll have to play one anyway). Especially with the condition "if game #1 works out because of the surprise", then you have to keep the opponent numb. The reason game #2 failed is, among other reasons, because it was a bit too similar to game #1. Yes, different, yes, the counter wasn't the same, but preparing for a repeat of game #1 was still helping Serral getting ready or at least able to react to what happened in #2. He was almost surprised... but one more time, since he is on another level (planet), that wasn't has shocking and he could play it.
But well, maybe reversing the order alone wouldn't have make a difference. What does actual players think?

I wish lowko stopped saying that maxpax can’t be consider as the best player until they play in offline tournaments. I know where he cams from and I don’t say as a bad critic, in bad faith, it’s just, we don’t know why maxpax isn’t playing offline. Maybe they have an immune deficiency disorder, or maybe they are super anxious. I feel bad after all this years keep hearing that they need to be in a offline tournament. I know that’s a me problem, but I wish people be a bit more considerate with that topic, knowing that it have pas almost 2 years that we have returned to offline events.
Whether Maxpax wants to but can't, or doesn't want to but can, is irrelevant. That's like saying "X player in Y sport would be the best if they not injured all the time." Being healthy is part of playing the game. Maxpax is a top-tier player for sure, but part of the structure of top-tier competitive SC2 is offline/in-person tournaments; those are considered harder in general than online tournaments because you're playing often outside a normal timezone, not in the comfort of your own home, playing with crowd/light distractions, with a tournament-provided computer, etc., and you're playing with practically zero ping difference. I do agree it's a bit much for Lowko to mention the fact in _every single video_, personally, but the point itself is still a valid one.

Serral gave the first game to Maxpax so he would believe in victory only to slaughter him in the next 3. Holy fuck the man had his hopes utterly crushed.
That Contaminate in game 3 was so clutch.
The gap between Serral and Maru (1st and 2nd) on Aligulac is the same between Maru and Solar (2nd and 10th). I know grain of salt and all that, but I think it's time to accept that Serral is just in a league of his own.

At the top level, Zerg is by far the most powerful, so I predict an easy win for Serral here, 3-0 or 3-1 at most.
That contamination was soooo nasty. I didn’t realize at all what happened, I thought Maxpax canceled it accidentally while checking to see if it was done as that engagement was about to start 😱

At 16:38 when MaxPax activates Prismatic Alignment, there is an Overseer dies to the Archon before the Void Ray can target it. I assume MaxPax was unaware how much HP the Overseer had remaining when he activated Prismatic Alignment.

Protoss was so good at one time that other races needed separate counters for every ability even.. but now that everyone has all the counters and all protoss abilities have been nerfed to the ground.. it's safe to say that Protoss needs buffs or re-instatement of it's previous abilities or reversal of nerfs.. not new abilities.. cause then they will remove it after adding its counter to the other races.. lol
Lowko, this has to stop. You can't complain about mythological map names not fitting the setting when half of the terran units and most of the zerg broods are named after mythological characters and beings. Just learn how to pronounce them and get over yourself ;)

Finally nerf queens. How is it ok, to have race that every other race need to do early dmg or its uphill battle, but nowdays pro players are so good at defends with just queens. Zerg are good at attacking, swarming, backstabbing, defending, getting full map vision for free, moving turrets, tunneling whole army back and fort... well fok it, WHAT ZERG DOESNT HAVE?? And when toss gets collosus, zerg already can have vipers, and vipers have consumption, which is another nonsense. All advantages to zergs with nothing for teran/toss to really counter them. Noone can kill enemy workers than zerg, and zerg have so many options. Dont get me wrong, Serral may be freaking good, but its looking like adult beating child, because other races doesn't event have proper counters

Maaan @RenRenClothIsaac , I wont be at the level of the pro gamers in two lifetimes. Pro gamers are getting better and better by the time. Its just when Terran ends with non existing mech option for now, and limitation by wrist issue due to micro (if you just compare mass baneling attack move require so many micro management to counter) and protos by too expensieve units and hard to counter and many limitations - templars are too slow, catched by zerglings, imortals are slow and expensieve, needed to counter roaches properly, and zealots are too ineffective , and golden army is joke itself.. slow air ballons with no maneuverability, and zerg with moving turrets its just roflamo joke)
I love Dark, and its much more pleasure to see playing this game, but still, he doesnt follow anything strictly and still is ok, meanwhile if any protos or terrans would mess build like Dark, it would be just game over. Zerg just have advantages on every field, and this is unmatched with other races. I think that by the time, as pro players will get even better, it will be ever more huge gap as it is now.

2nd just as with starcraft what are the circumstances? are we talking basic darkage/feudal man-at-arms vs the most basic archer? did they have any tech or civbonus?
you are making a statement comparing a game with 3 more or less fixed factions to a gameseries (you are not stating a specific title) where a unit´s effiency can vary widely depending on what Civ the player picks and the uprades used during engagement ... you threw in Man at Arms ... which in AoE 2 DE gets raped by archers ..
you threw in "armored unit" ... which ones? cavalry? beatable with numbers and micro of Archers or Skirmishers, pretty much only ineffective against siegeunits, rams and structures/defenses to my limitted knowledge ...
your statement from my interpretation feels to come down to ... "hey i enjoy this RTS more because its more detailed r-p-s is still loose compared to X other RTS´s detailed r-p-s"

in SC2 the queen can do exactly what a hydra can in SC1 and they are much more useful than hydra, thats why you don't see hydra plays much in SC2

If those armored units are on horseback or all called huscarls, sure. If at equal numbers and equal tier you lose with archers against men at arms, you suck at micro.
Does lvl 2 weapon upgrade do anything for protoss? Cant think of any thresholds it breaks. But I could obviously be wrong.

So many years and we still don't see Protoss able to compete on an equal footing with Zerg and Terran.
As a Protoss fan I must say that I regret this imbalance.
Then it must be said that Serral is really a great player!
I think it has to do with the fact that if protoss would be enhanced, sure it will be more balanced at top level, however in lower tiers protoss would probably just ravage everything.
Same in Doto, there are certain heroes that are not buffed specifically for this reason, that the pubs would blow up if people would abuse this type of heroes, and many players would just get frustrated and leave the game altogether.
This game was a stronghold
Perhaps one of the last survivors in a world dominated by paid upgrades.
For it is modern chess, but nothing stands up to profit.
No serious talk..I am one who still loves it as a single player and what Lowko and many others are doing is something Blizzard should admire
