Omg this takes me back so much. Between the years of 1989 and 1992 especially, I would just play this channel and watch it for sometimes hours actually. I was ages 4-7. Yeah I was weird. I didn't go out much but between this and the Weather Channel, they were my comfort a lot. Hell, now that I'm in my 30s, I often look for videos like this as well as old Weather Channel long broadcasts. I miss my childhood so much. These were also greater and simpler days. Even when they changed this format to the more vibrant one from like 1993-1998 I still watched, and a little after it became the "TV Guide Channel". Thank you for posting this.
Nothing weird about watching the Preview channel lol. It was always interesting to look through. Especially when there was much on. Or you were waiting in between tv shows. I miss those simpler times.
The Guitar Man singing the "Prevue Channel Blues" promos from 1994 are complete in 3 Versions. One in full :30 seconds, An abridged version and a short :15 second version.
I remember when this first came out. There were people who literally said "Has technology come to this? What's wrong with opening a newspaper or TV Guide to find out whats on? You kids have it so easy now." LEGIT people thought *this* was high tech.
Only if those older generation people knew what would be coming in between the years 2004 2005 2010 and now in 2023 and beyond into the future . The words "social media " did not exist in the 90s 80s and prior. I was 14 year old teenager in 8th grade in 1995
Wow...The grid was still using the Prevue Guide logo in 1995. I believe this is the latest video that still used it. Also, it's very strange how the local channels were placed so high up on the channel lineup!
I'm from this area but was born a few years after this recording was made. Appears to be before Continental/MediaOne standardized the channel lineup across the region (and has remained mostly the same under Xfinity today). Interesting they stuck the local stations in the 20-30 range instead of their original over-air channel numbers. Especially when in Boston, people rarely refer to stations by their callsigns. I've never heard anyone call WCVB by it's callsign (other than WCVB themselves), just "Channel 5", same with WHDH being known as "Channel 7", etc. It just seems like an odd choice to put them there, and probably did lead to confusion. I'm guessing there was a technical constraint that led to this decision?
What I would give to see the cox version in stockton California from 1995, all I remember is they kept showing previews of three films, Fist of Justice and the Hard Bounty and Dr Jekyll and Ms Hide lol

This started even in the 80s. It was called EPG (Electronic Program Guide) back then

Any clips of Prevue Channel with Ray Combs as the announcer? He did voiceovers for the station IDs and Prevue Tonight, I believe.

This is a really interesting video and it lasts for 2.5 hours. This really brings back memories. I was wondering if you have Sneak Prevue from 1995.
