Glad you all like the car! I've been racing the 991 GT3 Cup for two years now in the GB series. Will answer a few FAQ's I've seen...:
1. No, this car doesn't have rear wheel steering.
2. The engine is the Mezger 3.8 flat 6, 460bhp output
3. Exhausts are racing straight through exhausts
4. The Michelin wet tyres offer outstanding grip on lap 1&2, but quickly start to degrade and overheat. Especially the rears with the weight behind. That's why you see a lot of sliding in the wet, it's overheating most probably, not lack of heat.
5. The cars are most definitely not street legal. They are made directly from Porsche as a racing car purely for the track, and are used most popularly in the Porsche Supercup and various Porsche Carrera Cup categories around the world.
These cars are a JOY to drive. Good power, good brakes, and a few neat things like near-instant paddle shift changes and sharp throttle response. The cars are around 1300kg. No ABS or TC - fun!

I had the privilege of getting to see the 2 final races of this season's championship at the Circuit of the Americas this year.
It was absolutely astounding and the sound was orgasmic lol.
Just amazing pieces of machinery.
this car should be the "by default" racing series in every country ^^
glad Porsche has many CUP series across the globe !
im pretty sure its 4.0 l flat 6
@@xXPingouinXxnot in the 991.1
those up/downshifts sound epic..and that martini colour scheme is off the chart!!
I can never get enough of those upshifts. That pop pop sound 0:44 always gives me goose bumps. Amazing video from NM2255 as usual.
germany you've done good with this car
And I'm working for this wonderful brand from Germany :)
So proud!
My GF never heard me say this but I'm in LOVE!!! With this GT3 that is!
Awesome sounds! Lovely way of recording! So many different positions!
What a car I am in love. I own a Porsche 1976 turbo 3 liter. Now its a 3.4 liter with 500hp at rear wheels, also a G50/50 5 speed what a car. Greetings from Australia
This car is propably my favourite race car after the 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-class DTM. Isn't it just BEAUTIFUL? Thanks for posting!
Flat6 sounds beast
The best vid on the web of the new 991 GT3 CUP ;) ... TY for the video !!! :D
Haha Loeb is all over the place. The cars seems to have some serious power. Love it !
THE MOST AWESOME VIDEO ON THE WEB
Porsche 911: always understeer in entry, always oversteer in exit! Spectacular!
You can get oversteer in entry if you do it correctly too :)
Great video! one of your best, for me at least, thank you!!
Looooove the sound of those shifts!!!!
Boeing called...they want their wing back.
This made my day
wonderful car! it seems very fast...
Goddamniiiitttttttttt awesome sound!! Thanks Nick
lovely sound
This is a good point, hence why it is actually heard through the exhaust as that pop.
As always: awsome footage!
Let's hope this new cup car is better for slipstreaming than the 997!
It was almost impossible to get a good tow with the 997 cup cars, even here at Monza!
Holy S*** Batman!! That is some serious speed..got whiplash watching the vid!
Those pdk shifts are amazing
Sounds awesome! I can't wait to see these out on track! Great video!
wow that looks like an amazing car and super fun to drive
I love the GT3. Can't wait for them do be spotted in London, Monaco ect
up and downshifts sound nice
Those cars are getting some major RPMs. I love the donuts!!
Ricardo trans box with compressed air gear activation.. very cool.
Awesome upload! Great to see Loeb on the track! Thanks
Porsche is a Porsche! As we say here in brazil, this car is so "no chão"!
I'm loving this car!
Just love this video! Thanks for sharing Nick!
Yes they do. Up to 3 degrees in either direction.
Amazing car, and I love the new Martini livery. Hearkens back to the golden age of motoring.
I was literally half way through writing the same question lol. Wondering if the 2014 GT3 will sound that amazing. its pure sex.
Woah, that thing is so awesome!
Incredible video! It sounds and looks amazing!
This video shows why I love your videos Nick!
Basically, it all happens in milliseconds. There is a strain gauge on the shifter that can sense when it is being pulled. So when you yank the shifter (I mispoke before, you can really do it any time, not always at redline), the gauge will be strained, telling the computer to cut spark, load comes off gearbox, new gear is selected, load goes back on, all the while the foot is still buried on the throttle and no clutch has been used. It happens instantly, but the pop is the ign spark cutting out
These are some sexy gear shifts! :)
awesome video ! i love the martini livery ! i am thinking of doing the same to my 981 s
Great looking beetle !!!
I think that Sébastien Loeb is testing it because, as you know, he's got his own team on the Porsche Championship..
Oh yeah. What a nice sound!!!
Amazing video man, thanks as always. P.S. The link to your fb page is broken, just a heads up.
freaking fast in the corners!
Amazing video !
Wow, that was fast ! Loeb is obviously having some fun, haha. Awesome footage !
nice video brother..you remembered me of NEED FOR SPEED PORSCHE edition
looks like we have to expect much more from it :)
Such a beauty!
Thank you for this video :)
Wow, you are very lucky. I'm trying my best in Technical Gymnasium and just hoping to ever work for Porsche.
Actually, although the popping is caused by the ignition being cut, it is really the sound of a pressure differential being created between the tip of exhaust and the headers. With tech these days, since it happens so fast, the loud pop happens due to the exhaust system not being able to equalize it's dynamic pressure throughout
458 GT3 has some competition now!
Yes, and as a test engineer I can say that in the stages before full production or competition, they are actually looking for weak points. You make a good point that he is attempting to not only find the limits but break them. A smart racing driver learns his car this way. But maybe this isn't a competition driver, but test driver
Awesome car
People think 1:31 is a fail, but it's not, it's just a Porsche doing a catwalk.
That was an awesome vid. What do you think of the chance the production 991 gt3 sounding like that. Especially the bang during each shift.
Amazing downshifts! Nice filming!
Like i said,Great looking beetle !!!
wonderful video
That wings not big enough...
WOW epic find!
God, I need this car!
bel video nick, grande!
it's testing!! might be just trying out set ups, they might have been set up on the loose side, also driving style plays a part. If you look close white car seems to understeer a little more than grey, also we dont know tires used. Too many variables dont get too worried about it.
Why would anyone actually click 'dislike' for a car video? I don't understand. If you don't like it, just move on..
It can't be the only reason, there are lots of races in the rain and you don't see this.
1:51 oh... my ... god.. that fly by sound
so much power
Bad ass sound!
stunning
amazing...
You might need alot of downforce but holy shit that rear wing is big!
thank you for your answer.i know what it is , and i know of the gt3 , i was asking if you can buy one , if you have the right amount of money , and only to take to the track , if you see my second post.
Looks like the basis for the new GT3 RS road car.
It seems like porsche never stps improving their models...AMAZING CAR!
you gave me a moment of dream, thank tou so much =)))
Why on earth are you guys saying how unsteady the car looks? It's a car, on a track, going around a corner. There is no giveaway whatsoever that the car looks anything but stable, or not as solid as a 997. He's just having some fun. Check out all the wheelspin on corner exits. That is nothing more than a driver with a huge smile under his helmet. And every car spins now and again.
Stil und leistung bedeutet eine sache: Porsche!
I'm pretty sure, Loeb was testing different setups.
The white car is/was much more neutral, also louder and harder shifts, but mostly even on wet track more neutral.
The white GT3 had no race markings, no numbers, nothing, so this could be the reference car, while Loeb explored the limits in his.
2 questions: Is the production car going to sound like that? And why there's an explosion sound in between gear shifts?? Thank you...
Yes!
Production car will sound a bit similar as they use the same engine, but the race car is a purpose built competition engine with a race exhaust and tuning, straight cut gears, they always sound much more aggressive. You can't just put a Cup exhaust on a road GT3 and expect it to sound the same. They won't. The popping is the ignition cut. At redline the computer tells the engine to cut spark, so engine load comes off the transmission gears and the car can be shifted with no clutch, foot flat
flat out car!
0:50 lol on the grass!
because the exhaust is different from the original factory settings?
Bellissimo video. Complimenti.
:-)
this is nice, give me a idea how Porsches handle. I play a lot of Forza Motorsport 6 and Gran Turismo so this is really good to watch
You were curious so he answered you with the knowledge he has haha. True tho, life is more worrying than cars sliding than more than they should
Currently no GT class rulebook allows rear wheel steering. If it was it would also be very heavy and very expensive to develop for a race car.
1:30 - marshall is getting nervous :D
Are you going to the Technical Gymnasium in Germany? No, meant TG as "Technisches Gymnasium", as you have meant :)
Saw him taking the Senna line XD
I can't imagine how difficult it must be to get used to a rear engine car after driving a front engine for years
Does this GT3 have a sequential dogbox or a modified version of the stock GT3 PDK? (Hoping it's the latter even though it doesn't sound like it...)
dat grip
