Stewart Macdonald bringing the 🌞 into our lives. Btw, it’d be great fun to full size install pots instead of those trimmers. I’ve done that in my Fuzzdog super fuzz kit and it’s very handy!
I built the Stew Mac Fuzz Face and Phaser on Andy's recommendation, and both were nice kits with good instructions. After doing a couple, I graduated to sourcing my own parts with other pcb suppliers (have built a dozen or so), but I'm still glad I did these kits. Thanks, Andy, for a new hobby-and my friends who I've been building pedals for are grateful, too!
I love watching someone who actually knows what they're doing do something like this .. After about the first 16 seconds and seeing the PCB holder and the tool to bend the legs of electrical components I was like "well .. that would have been neat to know about 20 years ago when I first decided to Mod my TS-9 .. lol" .. Many thanks for the ongoing education
I just ordered this kit, and it will be my first. My brain is chugging along thinking of how i want to paint it. The soldering has me intimidated, but painting the enclosure is something that's going to be really fun.
Stew fuzz, soo filling! 10:33 Ive got some needle-nose pliers that ive ground down to fit in tiny lil spaces. Custom tools for custom work . Awesome paint scheme!
I built a fizz at seventeen (1962),using a circuit diagram from (i think) practical electronics mag using veroboard. The transistors were the now obsolete Mullard OC71s and thay sounded great.you might find them lurking in a '60's radio as they were available and cheap........................................
Gotta admit those LED leads kind of suck having to monkey them around like that. I’m building the Expander kit I swore they sent me the wrong enclosure because it doesn’t line up with the leads at all. That’s actually what brought me here. I wanted to drop a green one in there but the batch I got has leads about 1/4” shorter. Grrrrrr!! On a side note, I always replace the LED resistor out to a 10k. Otherwise you can see the damn thing from the moon. Another kickass video!!

That looked like it was Fun in the sun! Your son's paint job is perfect for that pedal. Where did you get the leg bender for the components. I haven't seen one of those before. Cheers from Michigan, USA.
I don't use StewMac any more- not their fault, but I live in Spain and stuff ordered from outside EU gets major hassle from Customs - duty, VAT and delays/to and fro emails etc. Instead I use Das Musikding kits 🎉in Germany - cheaper faster no hassle and a greater range of kits to choose from.
Hey there! We recently bought Madinter in Spain, so now 1000s of StewMac products are available to ship within the EU. Should cut down on shipping time, fees, etc.
I'm having some "Fun in the sun" with these informative videos! If you had to go with one "fuzz pedal" what would be your overall choice? Keep in mind, I'm new at this and don't have a lot of knowledge about these pedals, so I'm reading and watching about pedals and amps right now b Cheers!
If the instructions say to put goop on the components, would you do that too? Haha, just kidding you, but would you? Nice job Andy, thanks for the video. Am going to do one of these types soon, but Notaklon. :)
Guitar players are dumb enough to fall for it. JHS reportedly sold like 8000 pedals in a couple days you have to put together with a second order for 20,000 more.@@shadowminister4090
This is something different. JHS is a pedal company that sells a novelty assembly kit for a pedal. Stewmac is a DIY focused supplier, that also supplies easy kits for beginners, creating a kit with very detailed description an packing all the parts costs more than only the parts. I don't agree with KDHs stance that the Notaklön is a easy way to create a bigger profit margin by offloading labor. It's a novelty product. It's like saying a puzzle company is offloading it's assembly to the consumer instead of selling finished puzzles.
All it takes is the right person to introduce a new idea to the market. Idiots who will pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars extra to have their brand new guitars scuffed up and beat up are stupid enough to buy into anything if the right person tells them it's "cool." It's clear that a lot of guitar players are easily-led mouth breathers who love to jump on a bandwagon - i.e. the Bad Monkey controversy about 6 months ago. They will gladly do the work for you - and then post on social media about the new pedal they just "built."@@Buzzel-NL
Have you ever checked out the MOD kits? They are fairly primitive and use no circuit boards - all point to point. I found them useful as a jumping off point to building my own circuits!
Just saw that Stewmac confirmed they acquired a Spanish/European company, and that that should improve shipping rates. If not yet, then with a bit of patience they'll be viable in the EU.
Your kiddo did a great job with the enclosure! What a great project. 🌞
Thank you! I’ll pass it on, he’s very happy with it 🤘
Great job. I got my daughter to paint my Stewmac Ghostdrive. She was only 22 at the time...
Watching these videos is almost therapeutic!
It’s therapeutic making it too!
almost
Love that you almost always have a smile on your face. Especially even you think of your time with your son. Cheers mate! Stew rules!
Thank you. We had a blast building this and he’s really proud
@@TheGuitarGeek very welcome, I'm glad.

That paint is legitimately something I would want on that pedal.
lovely video! thanks for taking the time to create, edit, and share.

My favorite thing about DIY pedal kits (aside from having a pedal when I'm done) is when you get into a good groove while soldering.
Fun in the sun. This will be a Christmas present from me, to me😂
Man, really enjoy these builds that you do. BTW, your enclosure artist did a awesome job! Well done!
I want your Maybach SG!

you bend me right round, baby right rou...
Great job! I like seeing these being built to see if it's something I'd like to try.
Cheers!
Stewmac excels in bridging the gap between professional and hobbyist. Everything has been taken care of to make a successful build! ❤
Except the price.
I bought this like 4 months ago and then forgot about it, so thanks for the reminder! Will make it today.

Ha! Loved the OG tone best! Great video!
Your channel is fun to watch.😊
such a cool color :}
very nice assembling skiilz :]
That is a cool fuzz! I have to say 80 dollars is quite steep for a simple DIY kit. But I do understand that the detailed manual adds some value.

Does it clean up when you roll down your guitar volume?
Inspiring. Thank you. I wonder if there's a way to get those trimpots on to the face of the pedal?
Ditto. They seemed to have a useful range of adjustments. Stewmac might be missing a trick. More knobs = bettererer, obvs.
I agree. I feel some mods coming!
I’d put a red wire on the positive power lead or does it use an AC power supply?
Smiled when you kicked it on…..
Do i get that manual with the pedal, or do i need to download that PDF?
So sad if we don't get that booklet.
Yep!
You get an instruction manual along with the kit!
If the instructions say to put goop on the components, would you do that too?
Haha, just kidding you, but would you? Nice job Andy, thanks for the video. Am going to do one of these types soon, but Notaklon. :)
🤘y'all have a badass day🤘🍻🤘
JHS did this with the Notaklon. Companies are going to start trying to offload pedal assembly on to the consumer.
DIY is a niche market only.

No I have not. Where do I find these?
I better stay safe and stick to the "goopaKlÖn". NIce job!
I may be very clumsy and may not have kids, but I do have a girlfriend that loves soldering stuff. Guess this will be a win-win 😂
Notanalogman? ;)
Nice!!!

Looks well packaged and presented but it's way too much for DIY kit, can get the same kit from others for pretty much half the price
StewMac is a tad to expensieve within the EU.
Das Musikding in Germany is where I get some of my parts instead to avoid a gigantic import fee.
Stew mac need to start distributing in the EU. I hope that happens soon

16:37 and the fuzz is too much for the poor guy.
Seems more like a bias knob than a tone
Ohhh that sucks. I built my own Fuzz Face for $15. Another $14 for an enclosure and it was done. It probably didn't even cost that much, tbh.
Too damn high. I’ll stick with wish.
It’s overpriced.
Got it on a Father’s Day sale was only like 40 something bucks then. Seems like a deal to me
