Will Chicago Bears’ GM Ryan Poles bring back some ex-Bears? Some notable players he could sign include EDGE Robert Quinn and DT Akiem Hicks. Both struggled in 2022 and are aging players, but would fill needs on Chicago’s defensive line. Bryce Callahan has been away from the Bears the past 3 seasons, but when healthy he’s still a productive nickelback. If Matt Eberflus has concerns about Kyler Gordon’s development in Year 2, Callahan could be a good insurance policy.

Walter Payton. I loved watching him as I was growing up. I fell in love with the run game so much so that when the Bears would pass the ball, I always felt that Walter was being cheated out of his contribution 😄. My more recent favorite player was Mike Brown (if you can call him recent). He was a great player, made a lot of great plays and brought a lot of leadership to the defensive backfield. Even listening to his teammates talk about him you get the realization of the respect they had for him. Listen to Brian Urlacher talk about him, he still says that Mike Brown was the smartest football player he knew.

I'd like to know what decent Oline men are available for depth, which we don't have. I'm sick of hearing about edge rushers. If we lose someone on the line we are going to have problems!
Agreed. I've mentioned on several occasions that while our starting OL seems to have really improved, we still lack quality depth, and in this league you need depth.

Obviously everyone's favorite former Chicago Bear is Walter Payton. There will be a few stragglers who say the fridge, Brian Urlacher, maybe if you're really old you say Sid Luckman.
I started watching in 2013 so I didn't get to see any of those legends. Which means there's also not anybody who stands out as my all-time favorite. On a purely personal level, I absolutely loved Tarik Cohen at his peak, especially because he was such a small guy doing so well at a physically demanding position. But Brandon Marshall comes close. His IRL controversies make it hard for me to see he's my favorite, but he was such an awesome WR even when injured, who took on leadership when Jay Cutler was being lazy. Plus he was on my first fantasy team, along with Matt Forte and Martellus Bennet.

I appreciate your honesty. Back in the late 1970's and 1980's Da Bears became a violent defensive team nomatter how bad the offense was. Which eventually became the phrase Monsters of the midway!!! Watch some of the Bears vs Green Bay games in the mid 1980's. They were always blood baths !!
You guys are good but could be much better. If you are talking about Robert Quinn.. why wouldn't you talk about who we drafted with the pick we traded for him? It's like you'd rather talk about erectile dysfunction over news that people are actually interested in.

Why do people think we're not signing free agents? We're contractually obligated to get at least 17 million off the books, up to 32 million, and that's not coming in the form of extensions. That's at least two free agents at minimum, probably more knowing Poles. And there's plenty of room on this roster for even five free agents.
That's not necessarily true (I do believe we're signing a free agent or trading) but you can front end some extensions to apply some salary cap towards this year and help with the back end of those contracts, and I'm totally in favor of doing that now so the Fields huge extension that's coming won't kill us.
@adammason492 We're not extending anyone. Not a single player on this team has proven that they're a sure enough thing to justify extension before the season begins. Everyone on this team has bust potential, even if some are much less than others. Certainly I wouldn't consider extending Claypool or Mooney, I'm hoping they're not on this team next year. Kmet looks really good but I need more proof before I'm ready to sacrifice the option of signing another free agent.
Also, we're a pretty average team right now. If we don't sign any free agents we will really struggle to make the playoffs.

Surprised DeAndre Houston-Carson isn't on this list as a candidate for return, being he's technically off the Bears roster. Not sure of his latest update, it's possible he recently signed on with another team. But I always thought he was a helluva sub at Safety and was arguably our best player on STs.
I, 100%, have him signing with us. I think he's testing the market and not liking that teams don't view him as a starter yet; he comes back as a rotational backup on a one year deal and has a solid year.

Love Hicks but he was getting hurt, I attribute that to age. Would like to see him in a coaching role. I do miss him just don't want to see him get injured.
Akiem Hicks was amazing for the Bears.
Without him in the lineup, Khalil Mack was not nearly as productive.
