Not in our speakers. There's plenty of old artists from a mix of genres that can paint those feelings in their music, without it being a complete projection from the last decade and a half. If his music had evolved into what it is now instead of stayed stagnant, and if he wrote these songs for the sake of artistry, then it wouldn't have been a problem.

Dude NEVER comes off as original and always seems he's playing a different persona every time he drops a new albulm, mad mad corny. He just gotta be himself. The scary part, is being himself might just be him being heavy into young girls, which is why he can't be himself. That video of him bringing up a 15yo girl on stage, asking her age, and then saying "ohh I can get in trouble but I dont care" reveals everything you need to know
I've been listening to Drake since So Far Gone. Listening to him now, it just odd. It feels like he's gotten more childish in his subject matter the older he gets.
I think some of it is being genuinely more commercial. I think some of it is Drake is trying to fit into a box that…he doesn’t fit in anymore. He is not the weird outsider artist. He’s been at the top for YEARS. He’s not a kid in his 20s looking for love and a turn up. He’s an almost 40 year old who is seemingly no longer looking for love but still looking for 20 year olds. He has been fitting himself into youth culture for so long that it is becoming uncomfortable to watch. He has transformed himself over the years, but he didn’t become a more mature version of the man he already was. He keeps becoming different people that all happen to be 20 something’s. Which worked when he was in his 20s, even early 30s, but now that he is pushing 40 it’s more obviously weird.
there’s always a new generation of young dudes that will sustain his fan base. Drake is peter pan, he leads a group of young impressionable young male teens that aspire to ball like him, get girls, drinks, drive luxury cars.
Drake is an intelligent Jewish businessman who figured out how to last in the music industry by jumping on every new hot flow and artist. If he didn't employ this chameleon like strategy and wrote his own stuff he would have been gone a decade ago.
bruh if he was intellegent his songs wouldnt be ass whats him being jewish have to do with anything? think his jewish ties got him on degrassi or some shit
Dude I was just thinking about how I unintentionally became a Ye fan. I never really listened to his music except gold digger because I always thought he was kind of out there. More crazy than artistic, if that makes sense. But I mean listening to graduation mbdtf 808s and the life of Pablo specifically, I found that he was genuinely just a creative genius.
Hm. Jorja Smith (barely 20) who is referred to as "a baby" on Drake's(35 btw) Jaded while talking about literally grooming her to be what he wants her to be (I could've shaped it/difference in ages), the song itself is nasty work.
@@ShawnCeeLIVE I think his context was adding value in something he’s well-versed in (no pun intended), not grooming her to what he wants her to be. Drake was 30-31 at the time Scorpion came out. Jorja was 20 with two full years of adulthood. Although I wouldn’t choose to date that young, I don’t see the connection with R. Kelly’s history. Her being a “baby” is her still being at the age where she feels young and wants to experience life instead of being tied down. And she’d much prefer to do the work on her own instead of being more known as “Drake’s girl” than “Jorja Smith”.
Drake has had a longggg carreer. He started as being considered soft and women loved him. He then became accepted and amongst the goats within “traditional” rap and hip hop standards. Then around the time Her Loss dropped and now all that female friendy lover boy persona is out and he’s trying to fit in with that whole alpha male crowd that thinks liking women is simping and women are only valuable when xyz bs. He’s lost me now and Ive been a fan since degrassi! Fr 😂😂😂 his catalog is amazing so theres nothing short of enough material to go back to.
Cmon Shawn, the whole Jamaican facade as well as the whole "IM A MOB BOSS I ORDER HITS" Drake is really not about that life nor does he know anything about it he just touted it like he knew.
People keep saying Drake can make music for the youth when that isn’t the issue. The issue is the music is TRASH, whoever it’s for it doesn’t sound good. Drake has always been cosplaying as other artists. He’s currently cosplaying as lil yatchy. He doesn’t authenticity show up as himself in his music that’s why there is no growth. It is also why he sounds out of place and doesn’t fit in when collaborating with some younger artists. His versatility has always been due to him copying others. From party next door, the weekend, xxxtentacion, future, Jamaican culture or UK rap culture. Who is Aubrey?? Drake is a character he plays that steals from many cultures. He has ran out of good artists to steal from hence why lil yatchy is his last option and it sounds bad. He’s even dressing like him. Very weird.
I think everyone giving a biased opinion on a guy that’s this successful who is still listened to sooo much is the craziest ting. You ppl are insaaaaane!
It’s so damn true….till this day I keep playing the same drake song…Do not Disturb…I haven’t been able to listen to any new drake ever since he did that toosie slide song…
While I don't like Drake's latest music compared to his earlier stuff, that slump is pretty common in long careers. It's true he seeks the approval of people who are essentially either jealous career haters or unimpressed critics, when I listen to his music even his latest stuff, he clearly knows that he "won". His rushmore is his own face with 4 different expressions, he's been on top for years and years, he knows this. He's just a sensitive guy, it's a strange look in the hiphop world, and diagnosing him from afar is just haters coping with Drake's constant winning. And I think that's sadder than anything Drake is doing.
I mean metro posting memes all day Rick Ross posting memes all day they all corny not just Drake let’s be honest dawg keep the same energy fir everyone else that does the same shit that just sound stupid
drake is such a weird case study man. living proof you could have every material item and all the clout in the world and still enormous insecurities. sad to see his music get so soulless especially these last 5 years
If he's the "case study" then you haven't been paying much attention. From the R Kelly's to the Bill Cosbys at the most extreme side, all the way to more positive figures like Kendrick and Kanye(musical influence 😭) on the other. The material gains and the immense respect in the cultures you come up in don't resolve internal issues. It's crazy to me how many respected figures in the culture have crazy bad actions and narratives attached to them. Drake being corny and insecure is one of the least worrisome among that bunch
@@Insaniac969 yeah you're definitely right in a sense. i find drake the weirdest case study because i'm not denying we all have insecurities, and that fame can exacerbate them - but drakes are similar to a moody teenage girl. comparing cosby and r kelly makes little sense as they are completely different situations, they are child predators, drake is just a loser. i acknowledge the difference in weighting between the two.
@seven0seven0 The cases are extreme, but you can absolutely use both them and Drake as an understanding of how money and fame only heightens those negative aspects of a person if they weren't resolved prior to the success. Cosby and Kelly were monsters, but fame and wealth allowed them the power and opportunity to express that part of themselves to the fullest. Obviously Drake isn't as bad as that, but the money and power allow him to kind of force his way through managing those insecurities by pushing his weight around in the industry. My point was while Drake is interesting, there's honestly hundreds of celebrities with really negative personality traits that become exasperated by the fame, and honestly enough for Drake being in the position that he's in, and one if his main issues really only being his insecurities I don't really see him as that much of an issue. It's not a crime to be a cornball, but the way the internet constantly talks about him you'd think he did something way worse
@@Insaniac969Drake just doesn’t care about respect as much as being liked. His hunger for fame and admiration is what got him to this point in the first place. Unfortunately Drake would rather be liked by all than respected by most, which is why he has to complain about women and opps and other rappers because there is a massive lack of respect in his life. He doesn’t demand respect through his music, he doesn’t demand respect through his actions or the way he dresses. I’m a huge drake fan but I can’t even respect him as a man. He was clearly attention starved by women and even his own father growing up that he does everything in his power to keep it on him, instead of maintaining respect. Sure he’s gotten more money and sales being a digestible likable guy, but he’s ruined his own legacy for here on out. Sad.
I’ve side eyed Drake ever since I saw him make out with that 17 year old & still call her “dangerous but fine” after she revealed her age. I’ve tapped out of Drake completely after seeing how he texted Millie “I miss you so much” and how he still attends girls high school basketball games. Like high school games .. really. And on top that girls? Yeah you ain’t there for the plays.
I have a theory ..maybe drake didn't get the chance to get with highschool girls when he was that age cus he was the " corny guy" so now that he's big hes trying to make up for lost teen puss
Omg!!! I BEG you to spread this comment and get more eyes on it! Sorry. I don't mess with him after the black face picture. I didn't know he is (allegedly) a pedo too!
I’ve said this to some of my friends. Drake has become a melancholic playboy. He’ll brag about all this money he has and all the celebrity women he’s slept wit and being able to take anyone’s woman at any given time, but will still sulk in pain over no one wanting to commit to him or him being absolutely toxic and shocked that the women in question aren’t rockin wit that
This video aged so well. The fact that people refuse to give these other artists their flowers simply because Drake hopped on their songs while they were hot or becoming hot, is crazy. Travis was hot before Drake and is hot with or without Drake. Same with Kendrick, Migos, ASAP Rocky (all had hits before Drake). That’s what I dislike most about Drake features. He thinks because he did features with you that means he made you. And everybody forgets all about your body of work outside of him because we all bought into that narrative
Shawn’s only bad take in here is ‘he’s never had a facade’. He was acting Jamaican, he was acting like a tough guy at one point. Worse behavior was probably about him dining and dipping
He do be acting crazy hard 😭 but to be fair, when you have real gangsters around you willing to act on your command its hard not to start looking at yourself as Al Capone lol we don't like to see ourselves as capable of that kind of mindset. If you had shooters acting as yes men basically telling you to just let them know where they gotta aim, that power can definitely corrupt your head
Trippin if you don’t think Drake runs the city of Toronto or that he hasn’t gotten people killed. You should take a deep dive into the people he be kickin it wit. And he never acted Jamaican he was just fucking Rihana and became extremely immersed in the culture. Toronto has a lot of Jamaican influence.
There are a lot of things Kendrick said that Calls back to questionable and corny shit that Drake has said or done, if you’ve really been paying attention. One thing I’ve learned throughout the beef, is that Kendrick is definitely dialed in on Drakes corny antics, and has been paying close attention
😭😭 its funny because since i was in highschool 2008 when drake blew up we always knew and said he was corny af but back then his music was fire so nobody really cared but i stopped listening to drake after nothing was the same

The Meek Mill/Quentin Miller shit completely destroyed the credibility Drake wanted so bad. I feel if that never happened or got exposed his career would have been much different.
Facts and it put him on a path to see criticism in this defensive way. The Meek victory gassed him to where he thought he could take on Pusha, and that unexpected loss put him in this mind frame where he has to be extremely calculating and threatening and play mafioso so he’ll never be embarrassed like that again

His last album was not all that. Thats if were being completely honest. Drake has been the most consistent. Yes Drakes formula is boring now and he needs to switch it up but Cole & Kdot are not the even in the same league as Drake. They need more consistency ,more hits, and more impact.
Drake is an enigma, yet such a familiar story at the same time. He’s a reminder that the people we make famous are the ones we are willing to oblige. At this point, we’ve obliged Drake for too many years. For one, here’s a little more info on the pedo stuff. He was dancing on stage with a minor many years ago, there was the Millie Bobby Brown situation, and he’s had tons of relationships with girls that just turned 18, 19, 20 while being 5-10+ years older than them. Any of these relationships by themselves might be okay. I’m not the type to police age gaps between consenting adults. But when you see a pattern with this dude being in his mid-late 30s now, it’s just undeniably weird that he consistently chooses women much younger than him. You gotta remember how big the power dynamics already are for a celeb as big as Drake, so for him to still go for girls way younger than him is even more suspect. If you’re a manipulator, and the status that accompanies being one of the biggest artists in the history of music isn’t enough clout to get what you want from a partner, you gotta be investigated dude. He performed at Kylie’s 16th bday and then years later had an unreleased song play on a livestream where he called her a “side-piece”🥴. Like why are you bragging about that. Then he put the blame on the guy playing the song. There are some general theories that pedos tend to go for children or young adults because they’re childish or immature themselves, and therefore feel insecure about having a partner that’s their equal or superior; ie, a partner they can’t take advantage of. His initial denial that Adonnis was his son, and his behavior in many of the beefs over the years show that he also isn’t willing to be accountable for his own actions. That quote where he’s calling it malicious to bring up HIS malicious behavior is a prime example. Refusing to accept the consequences of your behavior is a MAJOR sign of immaturity. Drake being at the level of status and power that he is, and still being petty about stuff that should be beneath him is just another indicator. He can’t help himself from beefing with music critics or namedropping the people he sleeps with. Engaging in drama in instagram comments. This mf is STUCK IN HIGHSCHOOL. This is supposed to be a GROWN ASS DUDE. And in the broader scope of culture, music, and society, this dude is supposed to be one of the faces of hiphop and black culture, if not THE face of hiphop and black culture.
Also many of the teen girls he technically dated legally he had known for YEARS prior. He had known Hailie Baldwin since she was 14 and dated her publicly when she was 18/19. He also was texting Billie Eilish underage. If a 30 year old MEETS a 19 year old and they click I am still going to side eye it a bit but fine. A 30 year old dating a girl he has known since she was 14? Very different, significantly worse, situation IMO.
@@lwitte8857 I completely agree, if the older one knew the younger one for years before they even became an adult, the power dynamic has already been in affect for years prior to the relationship. Sure the younger one is an adult now, but the older person met them when they were a minor
@@kenouo2024Off the top of my head: Billie Elish, dated Jorja Smith when she was 19 and he was 30, kissed a 17 year old onstage without consent, took an associate’s daughter out on a date as soon as she turned 18 despite knowing her for years as a minor. Literally all you need to do is read interviews of Millie and Billie “defending” their friendships with him at 16 and 14 years old, it’s classic grooming behavior. Also, both girls were victims of grooming and statutory rape (though no charges were pressed) in other relationships.
Drake is a culture vulture. That's why he has never been embrace by the culture because he's not committed to it...he takes what he wants and leaves with it. It's like showing up to a family union to take food and not associate with the family.

@@Andre-uw5bx 1) People absolutely hate Leo for his creepy relationship record 2) The scary thing about Drake specifically that may or may not apply to Leo is that he dates creepily young AND has positioned himself as a mentor to unrelated teenage girls on multiple occasions AND dated Kylie Jenner when she was 18 after he knew her from at least 16. It's theoretically possible that he's not a groomer but you can't deny that all the pieces are there

And are ultimately dissatisfied and unhappy.
watching shawn cee watch an fd signifier video is something i would’ve never thought could happen

Likening “Jaded” to a dude who waited outside high schools to pick up chicks and married Aaliyah at 15 is nasty work fam

Very weird.

Drake is never the best part of any feature he is on. The “drake effect” is by fame only.
Ehhhhh, he’s won at the stanbase/eternal money pit cheat code but, to act like he’s been the best in the world just because of that is wrong.

drake is such a weird case study man. living proof you could have every material item and all the clout in the world and still enormous insecurities. sad to see his music get so soulless especially these last 5 years
If he's the "case study" then you haven't been paying much attention.
Sad.

The fact that people refuse to give these other artists their flowers simply because Drake hopped on their songs while they were hot or becoming hot, is crazy.

Literally all you need to do is read interviews of Millie and Billie “defending” their friendships with him at 16 and 14 years old, it’s classic grooming behavior. Also, both girls were victims of grooming and statutory rape (though no charges were pressed) in other relationships.
