the secret world of arrietty always reminds me of a book series i read as a kid called The Littles, and every time i see a miniature video i always think of the littles living in them, and you give the spaces so much life and make them seem like there are actually tiny people living in them!
Honestly I love the thought of tiny people living in structures made of recycled things... like how cool is that? The movie is actually based on the Borrowers books, so guess there's a few of them haha! Ahh really appreciate the nice words, really happy you could enjoy it~
This is PERFECT the chair and the bowl and the SLIDING DAY AND NIGHT PANELS 😭. I honestly can't believe the amount of effort you put not only into the miniature but into the production of the video itself, like the shots of the finished miniature and the painting and the little transitions between parts like the little assembly sign just UGH

The Borrowers were one of my favorite books as a child - you can imagine how thrilled I was to find this - (I will also watch the movie) - I am not just a lover of the borrowers but also I do miniatures - so I just love what you made!! You are very talented and I also think it's really awesome that you use a different kind of space, like the cookie tin.
Another beautiful build. I lived the use of the wooden spoon to create that subtle curve in the chair... gonna grab up some of them next time. Also a massive thanks for the name drop! Really appreciate it!
I didn't realize the curved part would work well until I pulled the spoons out for another piece haha, happy accident! And of course, your builds and videos have been super inspiring and helpful to me, hope that can be the case for other people as well!
Arrietty is my favorite movie of all time! Even though I have it on DVD and Blu-Ray, I've only seen the full thing four times so far. Still, it left an influence on me even in 2012 (when the US dub came out and was promoted via TV spots). It's also how I discovered the Borrowers in general.
That's so awesome, it's really such a beautiful film! And the concept and story is just so wonderful as well. Definitely a good contender for a favorite movie haha, great choice!
This has definitely inspired me! I found a bunch of old cookie tins when cleaning out my grandmothers room and I didnt want to just throw them out. I think I may need to watch a few Ghibli movies. I may even do a Spirited Away one because she loved that one

One of the few Ghibli movies I have not seen. You shown enough clips and things to help grasp this world you created a small portion of. I feel the spirit is definitely there. You definitely captured that small part of her room. I feel you done an amazing job with the odd shape you chose to fit the her room into. I would love to see what you would do with one of those popcorn cans that come out around Christmas.
Would really recommend the movie, it's wonderful! I think the depth of the popcorn tin would leave me at quite a loss of what to do with one haha. The reason I love the cookie tins is because it's almost like a three-dimensional painting because it's both thin and has a certain amount of depth! So many possibilities with them~

You are just such an inspiration. I'm a 60 year old man and I can't look away. I've never been attracted to this style of animation but just like you inspired me to start a miniature (adhd will finish it someday), I'm going to give this movie a try. I'm a wannabe artist and maker and because of my age, I just don't know or identify with these things that are so popular. Comicon as well is full of fabulous costumes that I'd love to make if I knew the reference - video games and these animations never landed on me. I hope its not too late. Nothing would make ME happier than to make someone something and see on their face the pure joy that I see on your face when you enter those worlds. just Beautiful. A side note - the adhd is like 3 weeks old....your channel is VERY shinny. Peace and happiness to all....even the ones that think they don't deserve it.

I definitely feel that way towards some specific creators, Toby fox being just one of them. I think every artist, no matter what kind of art you make, could probably relate to that in one way or another. Different artists put their different philosophies into every part of the things they create. The things they create are fuelled by those philosophies in the first place even, I think.
Absolutely, through making something a piece of the creator always comes through in the result. Making things and telling stories through different art forms/mediums has always really just been another way for people to communicate. That is precisely the reason that I love film so much especially. Well said!

Our sons are 15,15, & 8...when they were little, Ponyo was my go-to video for a calming and “re-center” or “re-group” session for my boys; it never failed that playing Ponyo with their snacks and favorite blankets would calm them after overstimulation and give me time for quiet afternoon coffee! I think you would do a fantastic job with a Ponyo cookie tin scene 🥰
That's so lovely that Ponyo could be a comforting movie for them, it's definitely such a great story and absolutely beautiful visually of course. I'd love to do a project one day! I just discovered your channel (through the hobbit hole video specifically). It is truly amazing what you can do with basically cardboard, flour, and found objects. I shutter to think what you could do with the Dollar Store white foam board. Also, if you have never tried it, toilet paper with watered down PVA glue makes a very durable paper mache like product. anyhow - I will check out the rest of your channel and eagerly await your next video.
I really do believe that there is so much you can do with what you already have around the house- the most fun part it problem solving with what you have. The foam board is great, I've used it a couple times previously- super versatile! Have used almost everything for papier mache, but don't think toilet paper is on that list. I've seen it used to create some really interesting textures though, which is super cool. Thank you for the tips- appreciate them so much and glad you could enjoy everything~

This was such a cute project and I especially loved the borrowing montage and the acorn mortar and pestle! Instead of painting your grasses and leaves, try a different kind of pressing. Look up the microwave flower pressing method; so much more of the color is preserved, it's amazing!

Oh absolutely, I learned that pretty early on in making stuff- it's easy to have really big plans that are super difficult to actually put into action. If you scale things back and focus a little bit more, you can often get a much better result in the end, especially with storytelling. I have been a massive fan of The Borrowers since I read it in what is now called Middle School. I love tiny things, always have, and both The Borrowers and The Littles fascinated me. The Littles were more mouse like, so not as fun as Arrietty and her family.

When you realise she went through the same process the borrowers had to go through- using prices of trash to create small things, being creative and resourceful to craft their furniture and “props” while also making them look good
One of the reasons I love the film so much is that I really feel the same spirit that the borrowers have! Trying to find little pieces of trash, nature, etc. to make things! So much fun haha~

Would really recommend the movie, it's wonderful! I think the depth of the popcorn tin would leave me at quite a loss of what to do with one haha. The reason I love the cookie tins is because it's almost like a three-dimensional painting because it's both thin and has a certain amount of depth! So many possibilities with them~

You are just such an inspiration. I'm a 60 year old man and I can't look away. I've never been attracted to this style of animation but just like you inspired me to start a miniature (adhd will finish it someday), I'm going to give this movie a try. I'm a wannabe artist and maker and because of my age, I just don't know or identify with these things that are so popular. Comicon as well is full of fabulous costumes that I'd love to make if I knew the reference - video games and these animations never landed on me. I hope its not too late. Nothing would make ME happier than to make someone something and see on their face the pure joy that I see on your face when you enter those worlds. just Beautiful.

That absolutely makes sense and I feel that so hard lol. I definitely feel that way towards some specific creators, Toby fox being just one of them. I think every artist, no matter what kind of art you make, could probably relate to that in one way or another. Different artists put their different philosophies into every part of the things they create. The things they create are fuelled by those philosophies in the first place even, I think.
Absolutely, through making something a piece of the creator always comes through in the result. Making things and telling stories through different art forms/mediums has always really just been another way for people to communicate. That is precisely the reason that I love film so much especially. Well said!

I would LOVE to see you create something from Ponyo. Our sons are 15,15, & 8...when they were little, Ponyo was my go-to video for a calming and “re-center” or “re-group” session for my boys; it never failed that playing Ponyo with their snacks and favorite blankets would calm them after overstimulation and give me time for quiet afternoon coffee! I think you would do a fantastic job with a Ponyo cookie tin scene 🥰
That's so lovely that Ponyo could be a comforting movie for them, it's definitely such a great story and absolutely beautiful visually of course. I'd love to do a project one day! Not sure when I'll be doing the next of these (dependent on the acquisition of tins haha), but I'll keep it in mind when the time comes around!

I just discovered your channel (through the hobbit hole video specifically). It is truly amazing what you can do with basically cardboard, flour, and found objects. I shutter to think what you could do with the Dollar Store white foam board. Also, if you have never tried it, toilet paper with watered down PVA glue makes a very durable paper mache like product.
anyhow - I will check out the rest of your channel and eagerly await your next video.
I really do believe that there is so much you can do with what you already have around the house- the most fun part it problem solving with what you have. The foam board is great, I've used it a couple times previously- super versatile! Have used almost everything for papier mache, but don't think toilet paper is on that list. I've seen it used to create some really interesting textures though, which is super cool. Thank you for the tips- appreciate them so much and glad you could enjoy everything~

This was such a cute project and I especially loved the borrowing montage and the acorn mortar and pestle! Instead of painting your grasses and leaves, try a different kind of pressing. Look up the microwave flower pressing method; so much more of the color is preserved, it's amazing!

Oh absolutely, I learned that pretty early on in making stuff- it's easy to have really big plans that are super difficult to actually put into action. If you scale things back and focus a little bit more, you can often get a much better result in the end, especially with storytelling. I have been a massive fan of The Borrowers since I read it in what is now called Middle School. I love tiny things, always have, and both The Borrowers and The Littles fascinated me. The Littles were more mouse like, so not as fun as Arrietty and her family.

When you realise she went through the same process the borrowers had to go through- using prices of trash to create small things, being creative and resourceful to craft their furniture and “props” while also making them look good
One of the reasons I love the film so much is that I really feel the same spirit that the borrowers have! Trying to find little pieces of trash, nature, etc. to make things! So much fun haha~
