i really adore ute lemper. i was sitting in theater des westens in berlin when she performed there the "blue angel". it was fantastic - although the berlin newspapers criticized her harshly and in a very inappropriate way next day. but in one point, i wanna withspeak her: when marlenes cuffin was driven through the berlin streets, a mas of berliners and germans stood at the streets, applaused her and even threw flowers and roses. yes, it was a entiring process till berlin politics finally named not a street but a square at potsdamer platz in front of a musicl theater after her.. but its not true that there was a broad enimitiy towards marlene. the opposite: most berliners validated her. and also marlene had made her peace with germany. as i know: originally she wanted to let herself burry in paris. but the night the wall was falling, she called a radio station, announcing that she want to be burried in the town she was born and in the country that was her heritage. in my eyes, mrlene alo wouldnt have liked her doughters decision, to not let put a german flag on her cascade. marlene wanted to go home and she came home. the great ute lemper might be still hurt by the way, press treated her. so she may be projects her inner grieving to marlene and the berliners. just to be said: when the great former german chancellor helmut kohl died, almost nowhere people wanted to have renamed their streets for him. its not accidentially that marlene choose for her memoires the title: "thanks god, i m a berlin woman".
