The English Portable Writing Desk is amazing. I often see them on the British show Antiques Road Trip and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip. They remain quite popular to this day for collectors as they are so well-made.
I have watched a lot of these TH-camrs who pick and resell and wasn't really feeling commonwealth picker. I judged him at first as being arrogant. Then I saw a video he did where he found a Bible and a pack of condoms, and he made a joke about the the Bible being free but the condoms costing money...🤣🤣🤣.. I died laughing and knew I was sold. Now I can't stop watching his videos. He is quick whitted and hilarious. And he has no shame being real about what he will pay and he don't sugar coat anything. He def. Has one of the higher subscriber counts and I see why now. I'm one of them. Love watching his stuff. Amazing at what he does and man does he crack you up.

I’d think it would go up near $500. There were intact ink wells with some pen tips. The leather was in pristine condition, no wear or tear. There’s lots more !

Your box is ...An Edwardian writing slope, it looks like mahogany and it's nice to see the Cartouche still remaining and the brass corners and the interior is in such good condition and still has the inkwells and the key finding one with a key is fabulous, It's been so well looked after! Antiques are all about condition ...I would say its worth around £140 to £180..😊

The antique lap desk usually had a secret compartment under the tray area. It's missing from that one. A false front would've popped out after the one divider was lifted. Still a nice piece.

Hi Kevin, the "writing desk" is actually called a writing slope. You'll notice the top end as you use it slopes down. Over here in the UK prices vary so much but over there is should do well, there are so many here in the UK. I would say $250 or best offer would be about right but you know your market better that I.

The writing slope is in excellent condition. May be a refurbished one. You don’t normally find then with an ink well never mind 2 matching and writing equipment. I think it’s a beauty. Fantastic haul.
