Bro I’m tired of people raggin on fire dragon “it has a weak first hit and then dot, so it’s bad because you can’t use feint” i swear the people saying that never played fire, you’re getting a 7pip aoe with essentially 1000 BASE DMG un- enchanted, I’d almost agree with the feint thing but, I’ve never had to use feint literally except maybe darkmour, bc as a fire or storm you just do that much dmg.
Scarecrow is OP, particularly now that it gets fully enchanted. Also a balance can effectively blade stack with nested fury on par with other schools unlike nova and other balance AOE's. As a balance main iron curse is situational, there are definitely times where an AOE overtime is useful to avoid cheats and counter shield spamming enemies, same goes with wings of fate. The only absolutely useless overtime AOE is Rain of Fire because you have Scald at about half the pip cost.
As a PVE life main I’d say wings of fate is actually useful when mobs spam shields. Definitely not a boss killer but as a jade it has been useful clearing all these 100+% shields Edit: meaning it should be in the situational section
Just wanna put this here.. If you’re leveling up a fire get the fire kookaburra. The meteor card it gives has 100% accuracy. Actually good tier for leveling
My favorite spells by far as an Ice and Death main, are Deer Knight and Reindeer Knight. Even at higher levels, you have to remember odd-numbered pips don't always conserve. Using Deer Knight (really 6 pips) vs Scarecrow (really 8 pips) for the basically the same damage, regardless of heal, is much better. Ice also has less than 90 per pip damage output, and 560 damage for 6 non-conserved pips is pretty good considering the per pip is 93 and Snowball Barrage is 95. If you do conserve the pip on either spell, it jumps above 112 damage per pip for either school, which is insane for Death and Ice.
Nah bro you got it wrong, tempest is op not because waiting makes it stronger, but because you can +300 enchant it and for 1 pip do an AOE that does 380 damage on everyone. Penguins does the same thing but requires a shadow pip. It's insane
Sound of musicology definitely should jump a few tiers. If you are considering spellements, it is the highest damage AOE in the game period. It does something like 1150-1350 (100 more than glowbug on the low roll) damage with enchant. You blade once or twice which you would have to do for glowbug or stormlord anyway and usually by then you have the shad. Then on top of that you get a free 45 blade just for casting it, so if you need to cleanup with tempest it makes it really easy. Only downside is you have to spend a decent amount of time farming in karamelle for the spellements but you should do that anyway as you should farm Rusalka's wrath TCs to craft the T1 amulet as it is the best defensive amulet (better than dragoon) for storm.
Also if some random person reads this and wants the spellements for their karamelle spell, you should do all the side quests in karamelle as every single one except Zeke and his lady friend give spellements for your respective school. Then farm heidi for the rest.
Yeah its the highest hitting aoe in the game, he didn’t do a good job with his analysis cause crow is the best spell in the game just cause of the damage and drain effect for pips and no shads. But yeah he completely neglected the fact that S.O.M. has spellement paths that make it super OP.
honestly wizard101 can make shadow spells OP again, all they would need to do is either make the spell no PVP or make a seperate PVP specific shad spell like how they have specific PVP only spells. sure that may be stupid but those are the only ways i can see wiz ever making shadow spells OP again or atleast stronger then how they are
I wanna argue for musicology to be placed in good but shad, or just good tier. It's damage is still respectable, and can get higher with spelements which you can get to the second tier rather easy. The utility of the blade is also 100% since it got changed from when you crit to just using it. Also, the only downside is the large damage range and the fact that it's a shad😅
from my experience w nested fury I've used it on so many elemental bosses that rolled their school and it still overkilled by like 10k LMAO it's op imo

Reign of Fire and Snow Angel should BOTH be in 'situational.' They are both literally designed to be used in the case of an enemy set-shielding against fire or ice. It does 1 round of minor damage to take out the enemy shield or multiple shields if enemy uses tower, legion shield, set shield, or any combination of shields that can block fire and ice damage. Then the next 3 rounds it deals its intended damage without being hindered by the enemy defense while simultaneously allowing you to prep for your next hit. Edit: Snow angel has the added bonus of taunt which, for an aoe spell, forces the entire enemy group to focus you as an ice wizard with (presumably) the highest resist and hp on your team, aka the tank.
I agree. Rain of fire main damage is the tick. The initial hit is meant to take away the shielding. If you combo that with fuel and or detonate it can go crazy but it’s very situational.

Snow Angel and Shrike is an overkill funny if you want to delete ice mobs, because even without the shrike, it breaks the shields and melts with the super powerful dot.
as a level 85 balance main- so far yeah, spell animations are a big deal for me personally. i legit equip ra instead of power nova whilst questing just because it’s cool.
This game has an insane amount of spell choices and customisation. Unfortunately you only use like 5% of it. So many people would still be in love with this game if it achieved its full potential.
People consistently ranking fire dragon mid-low for an aoe are clearly not mathing very well. The hit plus first tick at base is 685 damage (5 less than storm lord) plus it is more shield resistant (which at least is relevant early in the game). I get that feint is less valuable on the hit, but it’s not so much worse that it should be more than a single tier below storm lord at worst
Personally I have only Scarecrow and Snowball Barrage in my top tier. Both spells essentially guarantee victory for their schools in a way that is unmatched by any other spell. Scarecrow heals Death wizards so much that it sets them up for another hit even if the first fails to kill. It gives Death an unparalleled margin for error and makes the whole game a joke. No matter how much damage you throw at a Death wizard, this spell will guarantee their survival and eventual victory. Snowball Barrage turns shadow pips into a win condition for Ice, which is fine as they have so much resist and HP that they’re basically guaranteed to get a shadow pip some time before they die. This “synergy” with the base characteristics of Ice makes it into another spell that guarantees that Ice will win every single time. The fact that it does ludicrous amounts of damage is just the cherry on top.
Yep, crow and ship of fools makes soloing the game easy, especially for tough fights like the castle gobblesmack dungeon in Karamelle and the final boss in Karamelle with 3 consecutive waves of enemies …😊

only dragoon amulet spells worth using are the death life and fire, thats because death and life dont get a 4 pip unless you pay money or craft it and fire because the animation dont take 4 years
Imo, Scarecrow is mega OP as its such a reliable hit that just heals you back to full heath almost without trying. And somehow Snowball Barrage (which is LITERALLY just tempest with an 80 level difference and a shad, meaning you cant enchant and spam which is what makes tempest good in the first place) somehow made it into OP when theres a whole category for really good spells that are let down by their shad. Idk, pretty good list otherwise tho :)
I don't agree on Wings of Fate being "trash" at all. In fact, it can be useful in team battles since it gives every teammate an overtime heal and overtime damage on all enemies, which comes in quite handy since life wizards don't really have many overtime damage spells to choose from. Sure, it's not one of the best AOE spells ever released but far from being trash.
Trust me when you get to the 3-4th arc you need to kill asap because the mobs and bosses hit you very hard so having to wait extra turns can cost thousands of health.I had a much easier time on my myth than on my fire because the extra damage fire dragon gets is unnecessary anyways because mobs don’t have much health by 3/4th arc not to mention feints would make burst damage spell stronger and if you have to wait extra turns to get your full damage on fire dragon you might as well use those turns to buff burst damage spells than would end up doing more damage than fire dragon would’ve done anyways
i would have lowered rat spin and ship of fools and upped leaf tornado and death frog bc you either need spellments from gold key bosses to get them or in the case of rat spin you have the option of crafting it after getting to zafaria,doing that crafting mission, then getting a port to the dungeon in avalon for the recipe. either way you get both spells a lot later than you would want for a 4 pip aoe and for the item cards you just need to hatch a pet
Doesn’t matter how hard they are to get, this is off of how good they are. They can be enchanted and do great damage per pip (especially rat) so are incredible spells and much better than the pet aoes.

I'm using the Krokotopia set right now which is okay, boosts my crit up by a bunch but I really want the fire set before I challenge Marleybone and Olympus. That said, any farming strat or should I just avoid it entirely and go for a different set?
Um, fire dragon doesnt get half the enchant. It gets the full enchant split up between the AOE and the main hit... pip for pip its the strongest aoe spell in w101
Only half the enchant goes to the first part. Instant damage is way more valueable then dot damage in PvE. No one wants to wait 3 turns to get max damage when you are just questing normally. Pip for pip, Fire Dragon is the second lowest damaging 7 pip aoe spell in the game. For Fire, the second highest damage school, that is pathetic. It makes feinting strategies much less viable because dots are the worst kind of spells for feint stacking. Dot should be either full damage on the dot or the hit, making both hits do half the damage just makes it a jack of all trades, which ends up not being the best at anything it tries to do. When you can only use one spell to use up all your buffs you spent multiple rounds creating, using a weaker spell is just objectivily ineffective. There is good reason anyone max Fire wizard worth their salt never uses Fire Dragon anymore. It's either metor, their Wallaru aoe, Dragoon spell or raging bull.
Crow is better than Khrulhu solely for the fact that it is more reliable. In this new meta unless you are wearing all shad gear, shadow pips are extremely unreliable ..:

Um, fire dragon doesnt get half the enchant. It gets the full enchant split up between the AOE and the main hit... pip for pip its the strongest aoe spell in w101
well the first hit gets half the enchant - most people like to kill on the first hit
Only half the enchant goes to the first part. Instant damage is way more valueable then dot damage in PvE. No one wants to wait 3 turns to get max damage when you are just questing normally.
Pip for pip, Fire Dragon is the second lowest damaging 7 pip aoe spell in the game. For Fire, the second highest damage school, that is pathetic. It makes feinting strategies much less viable because dots are the worst kind of spells for feint stacking.
Dot should be either full damage on the dot or the hit, making both hits do half the damage just makes it a jack of all trades, which ends up not being the best at anything it tries to do. When you can only use one spell to use up all your buffs you spent multiple rounds creating, using a weaker spell is just objectivily ineffective.
There is good reason anyone max Fire wizard worth their salt never uses Fire Dragon anymore. It's either metor, their Wallaru aoe, Dragoon spell or raging bull.

Crow is better than Khrulhu solely for the fact that it is more reliable. In this new meta unless you are wearing all shad gear, shadow pips are extremely unreliable ..:
