Great demo, really shows off the dynamics... I had a Russian Big Muff years ago, at a time that I was using original triangle Muffs, and I got rid of it because it sounded way too boomy, and with no dynamics at all. Recently I picked up a Red Muck first series and wasn't unimpressed, but still too 'bassy' for my taste, so not happy enough to drop my more 'normal' Muffs. This Mk 2 seems to have a few more things going for it sound-wise than even most EHX Muffs... gated settings, great dynamics and low background noise... mmm...
I love this pedal but EHX have been selling a Muff with a built-in boost (and a host of other amazing features including parametric mid EQ control) - the Deluxe Big Muff Pi
For like 10 years the EHX has been out there. Kit Rae has the specs for the thing to be set up to sound like up to 6 or 7 Muffs. Opamp, Triangle, Ram's Head (regular and Violet), Civil War, it can do most of the big ones. Or at least it can do whatever Muffs Mr. Rae used to set his controls for the heart of the fun. Muff part tolerance varied wildly back in the day.
Maybe a tad more finicky than a Strat with a floating bridge. However, it does stay in tune significantly better after breaking a string that you would hear in a Strat with a floating bridge.
Hey Jay - just curious as the timing lines up perfectly - did this Red Muck v2 come from Rufus Guitars? i had them bring one in not long ago and it would be king of cool to compare what you did with it to how I'm using it... BTW - one of the keys to this pedal is dialing the gain down a bit - so sweet!
Always enjoy your playing, but wow this pedal sounds GREAT! And quite versatile too 👌🏼 dig it!
Yeah... Jay sure can make anything sound good ;) my question is, though: does it cut? Muffs are notorious for getting lost in the mix.
Love it! You're playing is always so inspiring. I have a heaps of Muffs already but this one might need to join my collection
Thanks! It is definitely a fun one to rock out with!!!

I’m not a big fuzz user, however I like me some boost. The RC boost to be exact. An always. On pedal to give my single coils some oomph.
That pedal is solid!
Too be honest, I don’t have a muff-type...but I boost the heck out of my Benders and FF-types! Great video, as always!!!🙏🏼
Best guitar face! So many cool sounds in this video! Love that guitar too! Thanks for sharing and Rock on Jay! 😎🎸
How do you like it comparwd to jhs muffuletta?

What kind of pedal do you use next to Red Muck in the beginning? Is it delay? What kind brand and type? Thnx a lot, Jay!
Sorry if this has been covered but can you use the boost independently on this?
Great playing!
Wow. Great Demo... :-)
Hey Jay, how well does your tele stay in tune with the mastery bridge and bigsby?
Maybe a tad more finicky than a Strat with a floating bridge. However, it does stay in tune significantly better after breaking a string that you would hear in a Strat with a floating bridge.
lol it was surprisingly hard to find someone playing a decent amount of chords with this fuzz pedal.
Hope it helped!
Gary Clark jr tones there in spades. FFS another pedal on my list
This is a really great demo of a dirt pedal. Well done.
Thanks!

Red Muck or Eureka ?
Super tough. I like the Red Muck for thick juicy tones, the Eureka can get really cutting for great lead lines :)
This guy reminds me of Danko Jones.
👍🏿🤘
Sounds good but there’s pedals for a lower price that sound better
Prefer Eureka!
Ooh, that just dropped on my desk. Can't wait to give it a spin!
Not my favourite muff tone, there are many better muff pedals on the market today
