Beautifully said! We’re supposed to get two boys, 11 and 14 any day now. They will be our first placement and it’s looking like they will go towards adoption. My heart is for the older kids, I have three adult children and a 13-year-old and every age matters. I want these kids to have somewhere to go back home for Christmas. Thank you for your encouraging video.
So much admiration & respect for your heart for older kids in foster care! Praying this is a wonderful fit & for wisdom & direction as you care for these two precious children!
My heart is for teenagers. I taught at the high school level for 5 years and LOVED my students, I'm a stay at home mom now due to my children being young but I miss my students and I still have daily interactions/phone calls/texts with former students I taught years ago. If I didn't have my bio kids, I'd foster teens in a heart beat, but I'm TERRIFIED, TERRIFIED that a foster teen will physically or sexually or emotionally abuse my young bio kids (3.5 years and 1.5 years). That is literally the only thing stopping me from fostering teens. My husband and I just finished the foster classes we need for our state, and are waiting for the next step. I feel the Lord tugging on my heart to raise our expected age range for the fk, but my fear is so overwhelming. I'd hate to find out that one of our foster kids hurt our bio kids, Idk if I could live with myself if I ever found out that that happened. :( Your video was helpful though and I'm realizing that I need to trust the Lord in this.
Thank you for your comment! I can just hear your beautiful heart for teenagers ring through your words! What a gift to not only have the heart, but to have been trained as a teacher to educate that particular age group! I don't want to speak for you, but I know in my own case, sometimes the area of my greatest fear is the area He is leading me most to minister. Trusting Him to guide you every single step of the way & that you will know without a doubt, which children are meant to be in your home!
@@Jen-FosteringFamily so true, thanks for replying. He has proven to be so faithful to me and my family and has always guided us, I just need to trust Him!!
@@jennifermcgraw9473 Funny that you replied to this, I completely forgot about it. We're not fostering, but we currently have a former student of mine living with us for the summer, and it's been AMAZING. she's respectful, responsible, and its been so fun having her. The kids have warmed up very well to her and I trust her them. She's 19 and has her own car so that's been helpful as she can drive herself places and she has a job, but it's funny that the Lord was tugging on my heart about fostering a teen, and now we kind of are.
Thanks for watching!

@@bmylove4444 Congratulations on finishing your foster classes! That's huge! Praying & believing He will lead the way!
I feel the exact same way. I am very pulled toward fostering teens but I have a 12 year old autistic son and I have to protect him.
