    I have been on my loc journey for 3 years. What I notice and what people forget is that your hair sheds. My locs are all natural so they shed on the ends of locs. With extensions I would guess that your hair sheds in those spots at the ends of your natural hair because that’s where it would shed at if you didn’t add loc extensions to it. I repair my locs the same way that you repair yours on the ends. I also use jajoba oil on my locs to make sure they stay moisturized and tea tree oil on my scalp. I hope this helps

      I had loc extensions in my first set of locs and I never thought of this! I honestly think you’re right, because my extensions would shed after a few washes, and now that the extensions are out and I just have my natural locs in for 4 years the ends of my locs shed a little! Thanks for commenting about this!

    I’ve experienced this too but what really causes it is the attachment. Sometimes not enough hair is left out on both ends (your hair and the extensions) to properly attach. Initially it looks and sometimes feels as tho it is secured but after washing and retwisting it gets loose and starts to detach. So to prevent that make sure at least 1 and a half to 2 inches of both ends are left out put them over lapping each other and then crochet it. That way it anchors on both ends and no tension is on the joint area… also if you’re using kinky hair as in your video make sure to wrap the thin area til it’s filled and then wrap about 1-2 inches down the loc and up to the root so that piece of kinky hair you wrapped will also be anchored on both ends and the middle 😘

    I’ve experienced that as well. I’ve had my extensions for 7 months and lucky only had two locs to thin like that. I believe it’s from either styling or tension when you’re pulling your locs up into buns or ponytails. I love to plait my locs for a braidout style but if done too tight too often, I heard that can cause thinning.

      That's exactly what I think it's from too. But I love my styles😁 I have since did my first repair with added bulk hair and waiting to see if that makes a difference. Thanks for watching 💕

    I read that it could be from your conditioning. Since it makes your hair softer and it slides from the extension

    • @demeki22
      @demeki22  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That could be true. I don't condition but my rosewater takes it's place, so that's something to think about. My hair definitely needs the moisture though. Thanks for watching ❤️

    I’m 5 years in my loc journey natural locs though I had the same thing happen to me I was told by a loc dr thinking was due to coloring/ bleaching but I don’t do neither,an it can be when I used to sleep without the scarf though I used for the top only now I cover the whole head with a silk scarf I hope that information helped ,nice video Thank you for sharing

      Thanks for this insight 👍🏾 I only consistently wrap my hair during my retwist but I'll be more intentional with wrapping nightly...we will see if I can get those 4 locs to cooperate 😊 Thanks for watching ❤️

    Your locs look good! Love your honesty. This is my 2nd journey! I had to comb out my first set which were gorgeous but the parts were off. So I started over and got the ext. Bcuz I didn't want to start over. My ext are 6 inches and my hair was already just above my nipple. My repairs are just as simple as yours! I actually use my shredded hair from my first comb out to repair.

    It could be that your hair grows away from the loc instead of growing within the loc.

    • @demeki22
      @demeki22  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    HELLO, NICE LOCS😊 I WILL THINK TOO MUCH OVER STYLING, OR RETWISTING, AND TIGHT STYLE CAN CAUSE THINNING😊 KEEP HANDS OUT OF HAIR AND LET IT DO WHAT IT DOES😊 TRYING GOING A MONTH BY WEARING IT DOWN SOMETIMES😊 KEEP HANDS OUT OF HAIR YOU ACTUALLY CONSTANTLY PULLING😊

    When you connect the loc extensions to your hair without the braid in method your hair begins to swell just like they would if you just got your natural hair gel twisted. That caused it to loosen and detached. This is my 3rd loc extension process I didn’t understand the process and cut them out the 2nd time the first time my loc extensions weren’t 100% human hair so I had an allergic reaction and had to remove but this hair I have is good. I hope this helps someone. 💜

    I was told that going too long between retwist could cause the thinning. They said the loc can be too heavy for the new growth when going too long.

    • @demeki22
      @demeki22  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, that's true and I definitely am guilty of waiting too long for the retwist trying to avoid thinning from retwisting too often🙁 You can also get the same thinning results from not retwisting enough...

    Have you tried to do so in to attach the hair instead of adding hair or if you add the hair try sew-in and see if that would help I'm thinking of doing permanent extensions as well with human hair considering my hair is Curly and very soft and thin thanks for Sharing

    • @doralcalloway3487
      @doralcalloway3487 ปีที่แล้ว

      By the way you can try keeping your hair oil and condition with moisturizer that may help as well I find that it keeps the hair from itching and it doesn't feel so brittle your hair is absolutely beautiful 😇

    • @demeki22
      @demeki22  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for the advice👍🏾I have not tried sewing it in just crocheting the hair but that might be worth a try. I've steered away from moisturizer just wanting to minimize build up.

    • @demeki22
      @demeki22  ปีที่แล้ว

      Welcome!!! I myself had the same issue with the pre-made loc extensions (I'm 5 months in now). They have softened up over time but I don't know if they will ever be a soft as natural hair...maybe time will tell. I do suggest rosewater and glycerin. Also as you wash your hair it softens. Wishing you the best sis hang in there👌🏾

      I’ve had the same issue I just use an allergy medication and it helps with the irritation. Our body’s aren’t use to this foreign hair so just use some Claritin or whatever allergy medicine that works for you.
