The State of NJ has received $3 million from the U.S. EPA to update and enhance the state’s existing climate action plans. The NJDEP is leading the development of a Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) that will be a highly focused, near-term list of implementation-ready measures to help the state achieve its 2030 goal of a 50 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The PCAP will focus on six priority areas: transportation, buildings, electric generation, food waste, highly warming gases, and natural working lands. For more information about NJDEP's development of the PCAP, visit: go.rutgers.edu...
The New Jersey Climate Change Resource Center at Rutgers is working with the NJDEP to gather input from stakeholders regarding three of those six priority areas: food waste, highly warming gases and natural working lands. Stakeholders are invited to participate in these upcoming topical virtual stakeholder sessions.
NJDEP’s Natural and Working Lands Strategy (NWLS) aims to mitigate the effects of climate change through the protection, restoration, and strategic management of New Jersey’s natural and working lands. These lands include those that contribute the most to the storage and sequestration of greenhouse warming gases: forests, agricultural lands, wetlands, developed lands, and aquatic resources and habitats. For more information, see NJDEP’s Natural and Working Lands Strategy (dep.nj.gov/cli...)
