Demo singers might sound better than the idol groups because they are artists. They have strong music sense. Idols focus more to image and was created for public eyes not only ears.
Kpop Idols are mostly Performers. Yes they are artist. But focusing on performance. They should please our eye. it is just a plus if they can sing well. Thats why most groups has one Lead/Main Vocal who sings almost everything. They all have talent but are good and less good in each skill so. No hate und so.

idk why they turned down the harmony in the chorus. When I first heard Bing Bing I always felt like the chorus sound so monotonous. Now that I listen to the Demo, the harmony makes so much sense. Also my favorite part is Mina's and I never know it could sound better until this.

Korean songwriters do the same thing. They sing or hire someone to sing their demo (the lyrics can be gibberish, random stuff, or unpolished - you just need to outline how the melody and such should sound like so artists know how to sing the new lyrics) There are many examples online for SM artists (Run Devil Run by SNSD bought a demo by Kesha. 4 Walls by f(x) has a sample up on YT a brief clip of Red Velvet's Peek-a-Boo, etc.) and other kpop groups also are a part of this practice. There are a lot of non-Korean producers and composers selling songs to Korean companies now. They are different from covers because they came first. You can literally look up kpop remakes and demos and see videos showing a bunch of popular kpop songs being compared to a previously released song (korean company bought the rights and wrote new korean lyrics) or a completely new demo (not previously released) that was leaked (korean company bought the demo that was for sale OR hired a songwriter to write the song)
