Let There Be Peace
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men.
Luke 2:8-14 KJV
1 Our city is strong! We are surrounded by the walls of God’s salvation.
2 Open the gates to all who are righteous; allow the faithful to enter.
3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! 4 Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock. Isaiah 26:1-4 NLT
In this world you will have trouble… John 16:33 NIV
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!

3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Peace isn’t found in the absence of problems. Peace is found in the presence of God.
The battle for peace begins in our minds.
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me- everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:6-9 NLT
Peace isn’t found in the absence of problems.
Peace is found in the presence of God.
Isaiah: Peace is found in God’s presence.
Luke: Jesus brings peace on earth.
Paul (Philippians): God’s peace guards our minds
Peace is found
• in God’s presence
• in God’s perspective
• in God’s assurance
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
Price of peace: surrendering my expectations and control for the freedom of God’s presence, God’s perspective, God’s assurance.
