Hey there, just found this video, love the Q&A about these bikes- sorry I’m asking a little late here but I was wondering if you had any recommendations/mods I could install to give the bike a little more torque. I removed the intake reeds and adjusted the fuel with the JD jetting piggyback, everything else is running stock save for the headlight. Sometimes on straight 2 lane roads, or in between freeways I feel like I’m just using too much engine to just to fight wind. I can still accelerate freely, just can’t sustain the speed I need long enough when I’m modulating the throttle in high gear. Not sure whether to adjust the gear ratio from 14/47 to 14/49-14/52 or put in flywheel weights. I heard aftermarket exhausts and end caps don’t do much for the 350s. Thanks!
Hello: Lots of red flags in this comment. Piggyback tuners are a waste of money. They do very little to improve performance. Dig into your piggybank and by a Vortex ECU slavensracing.com/shop/vortex-10-map-ecu-ktm-vortex/. Bad information about exhaust. Your bike will NEVER perform well with the stock restricted muffler. Remove the restrictor screen, install a free flow end cap or an aftermarket muffler.
Hello: Probably, but you will need to make that determination depending on how it is running. If it is boggy, starts hard, fluctuating idle, runs hotter than before, decel pop are all signs of lean fueling.
On a dyno, the HP difference is very minimal between a stock muffler with the restrictor removed and the loud high flow aftermarket mufflers. I prefer the stock muffler with the restrictor removed.
@@slaverace1this is good news! I like the hp but noise is a curse. Especially with a track kit in winter when you’re always on the throttle, the FMF pipes are so loud I can’t use my helmet coms properly.
What are your thoughts on the Dynojet tuner with a good map? I know it's not going to match an ECU for potential, but good enough to fix the lean issues and run better than stock?
Hello Scarsman No offense, but I’m not a fan of piggyback tuners. They can help the lean issues but not fix them. You will be better off saving up a few coins and getting the real deal, not a Bandaid.
Hello: Flame-outs are from lean fueling. Any modification to the exhaust system that increases air flow will make the flame-outs much worse and the engine will constantly run too hot which causes premature engine wear. I have no idea what videos you watched but that information is completely backwards and incorrect. Also, the restrictor plate on the rear muffler outlet is not the spark arrestor. It is located several inches inside the muffler. If you want it to run correctly, you must purchase a Vortex slavensracing.com/shop/vortex-10-map-ecu-ktm-vortex/ or GET ECU slavensracing.com/shop/slavens-mule-athena-get-sx1-pro-4t-ecu-kit-for-ktm-hqv-gg/.
Hello: The stock ECU map settings are very lean. When the muffler screen is removed, the fueling becomes leaner and can only be corrected with an aftermarket ECU. The reset method does almost nothing to improve the fueling.
What's interesting is in Aus the dealers remove and block the O2 sensor. Most even remove the screen. Have you tried that,?
Same here, my European FE350 had the lambda sond removed when it was new but the dealer left the screen installed though.

Off topic.... Where can I go to ask a question about 2012 exc 500. phone ,email, which would you prefer? Thanks

if i put fmf slip on , on my 16 husqvarna fe350 do i still need to put a different ecu?

What about just a GET ecu to increase the fuel? You will need to get an exhaust too?

23 501S runs awesome fully stock, 90% single track.
Whatever blows your skirt up works for me, but I prefer more HP.
Thanks for another informational video. Have a great day.
Thanks, you too!
Since when do they make a 500 excf
2012
Why no mention of tuners?
We have plenty in stock. slavensracing.com/product-category/electrical/ignitionecu-components/
Should I remove the butt plug on my 2023 ktm450xcfw I don’t want the performance to be terrible tho as I’m planning on riding on the road

Did you even watch the video?

Thanks for the response! I appreciate your time!
Great info. Thanks.
Hello I have a 2023 450 XCF w would getting another ECU boost my performance that much or would it be a waste of my time. Thanks
The GET ECU will definitely boost the HP. Factory KTM uses them because they work very well.
Good advise !!
Thanks for watching!
The answer is Yes
Nah mine runs perfect with a Akra slip on the 17 450 nice colour at the vent standard ecu too.
so ,, isn't race ready then ...😐
Really?
My 350exc 17model continuously flames out. Seen vids of people removing the spark arrestor from stock exhaust and it complete eliminates flame out

Not true, I have all restriction removed on my 2017 500 exc-f EU version and you don't need to change ECU at all.
We are in the US. We don’t have EU models.
EU? This is America Son. We eat steak not crepes.
This is internet, worldwide.
How do you remove it
@@elvispusley3515the frogs eat crepes not us lol
KTM puts that in there - so no one will put a Banana in your Tailpipe
Bananas are good for you.
Disconnect battery for 10mins and reconnect let idle for 5 mins factory ecu will auto tune to exhaust ya dero
