This feels like something to keep Smite fun and somewhat interesting before Smite 2 goes through it's alpha/betas and releases. I like how they are approaching everything and can't wait to play Smite 2 and see how your content evolves with it!
It does suck that every skin can't be carried over, but honestly it's all worth the release of Smite 2. It's absolutely insane that Smite 2 is happening and it will carry the game to new heights.
Smite is my absolute favorite game and I think it's extremely generous of them to refund all gems you've ever spent, even if they only count for 50%. They didn't have to do that at all and I would STILL support Smite 2, but it goes to show that they do love the community.
Why cant they transfer the skins over? Is it too much effort or money to transfer it over. If not just give everyone the gems back to buy new skins

@sohaibm1617 They explained how many hours and months it would take to carry over every skin. Since they went from unreal engine 3 straight to unreal engine 5, they said its just too different to simply port them over.
They also said they would rather spend the time and resources needed to remake every skin instead getting each God added to Smite 2 as quickly as possible.
Regardless, I think it's great. Smite 2 is a dream come true for Smite lovers.
Don't let it distract you from the fact that their customer support is TRASH.

100% agree, i cannot believe how open and how much they are giving people for this transfer. This is how you should do it, they are being so generous.
Specially since nobody forced any players to use money on smite skins in the first place. Fully their own decision and it's crazy that people cry about it, when Hi-rez don't need to give them any gems but are doing it out of pure generosity

Either way look at it this way. The game was free you bought it by buying skins. You played it for hundreds of hrs most likely I think you got your money's worth. If smite 2 is as much a new game as they say I think how they are going about this is fair weather they are true about the time frame or not. They are a company they do need to make money.
@@baldurironshield5083 either way they make 300 mil from skins a year, most the skins are recolors, and most players are paying $30 for the godpack that they want you to rebuy early for smite 2 lol so I wouldn’t call the game free at all. Skyrim modders make higher fidelity, and way more skins then are in smite too if people think it’s hard to make skins

Yes, I would have loved to see a reaction video as well, but Weak3n definitely deserved to be there.
One thing I do know is that mauis 2 will be interactive, meaning it will be like a threat lantern where you can press it and teleport rather than sit in it and teleport. I heard a developer talking about it with fineokay in his smite two video when it was showing deathwalker playing.
So it kinda shows even small changes that they are able to make with UE5 that will be so much better and create a even smoother gaming experience!

I'd be VERY impressed if we see Smite 2's full release by the end of the year. Season 11 feels like the "fuck it, we ball" season until next season which I believe will be Smite 2 in full swing

when there was chatter a few months ago about smite 2. i said i won't touch it if i don't get my skins which i spent literally thousands on and was so mad when i didn't even know if smite 2 was actually going to happen. then when i saw the smite 2 trailer and heard what they were doing, i wasn't mad, just really excited
My bet is they're gonna have the face gods like wukong, Ymir, Bellona, etc, as well as the five new gods they teased plus some of the more commonly played gods and Nut. Probably around 20-25 gods to start with is what I would guess. 30 could happen but I think more than that would take too long and delay the release.

People but hurt about skins I don't get it there being so generous considering it's a new game any other game wouldn't give you anything at all so the fact we're getting gems back is very generous just take the dub and look forward to a new engine and smoother gameplay

It's a bit sad that all the skins can't be ported to Smite 2, but I'll take a better game over my skins every day (haven't spent money on any skins, just the unlock all gods thing I forget the name of). All those skins might be cool, but the fact we get *anything* to transfer over from Smite 1 is a blessing

Dude...I'm a season 2 player. Started on Xbox, then moved to PS, then to PC. I've lost so many fucking skins/announcer packs/special event shit/etc across all of those accounts every time I switched and I'm super fucking stoked about the legacy gems. I got dicked with OW to OW2 and Destiny to D2. Hi-Rez is doing it right with this.

Can’t remember if he has a 40 series or 30 series nvidia card but he definitely has a higher end gpu. With nvidia cards you can go into the control panel for them and up the digital vibrance. Makes all of the colors pop more!

@@Comii_ It could be a limitation with your monitor as well. A 120Hz or 144hz monitor is going to play a lot smoother than a 60Hz monitor

Smite 2 is a new game. I dont know why people think they will get to keep their skins. When any game sequels come out its a new game. Halo 1 isn't the same game as halo 3. Smite 1 isn't Smite 2 quit crying.

Not all skins from smite 1 transfer to smite 2. They will transfer some fan favorites later. But you still get gems you spent on smite 1 in 2 that you can spend but it’s like 50% or smth.

CS2 is a completely new game on a new engine, CSGO ran on the og 2004 source code even though it was heavily patched over the years. Wasn't that hard for them to just write a code to transfer the skins over. Even if the smite devs didnt want to do that why not just give the full price of gems back.

Cs2 actually went from one engine to another from source 1 to source 2. Anyways I'm not really mad about skins I'm just saying
I will say this, skins dont take 200 years like they sayed to implement on Smite 2, they simply saw it has a waste of time and also it would be a reduction of their future income, but they had to give people something back otherwise you would see a massive fall of player base, the skins its not a matter of a new engine its simply cause they shown they havent done many gods yet and its a problem for them which is a noob move to announce something and not even have 50% done, so resumes that they dont have time to make the skins for smite 2, also to mention people getting dilusional that they think with the legacy coins they getting they will be able to buy much even for whale players cause the prices will be double, but its good they upgraded the engine but hopefully the coders do the work well so it doesnt crash and we see bugs everywhere like in smite, yes the current issues are bad coding nothing else.
The literal math on a skin is it takes around 8 weeks of a single person working it on. Thats the average between all the types of skins. It's simple. You pretending like you know how long it takes to make a skin is weird.

@Weak3n tbf on the skin bit, there's probably way less skins that should/could be getting ported. I.e there's 3 mastery skins for each god, the number of shitty favor skins, recolors and crossovers. So it could be a bit fair to say that they could import a couple skins or skin lines over once in a while and it's not like they need to import every skin for the big money maker gods like Aphro/Neith. And there's no way it wouldn't make for a better reputation

It’s from Unreal engine 3 to unreal engine 5, I don’t agree on the skins thing even with the explanation cause it’s not money wasted for them, it’s money wasted for their players they already got the money, they can’t lose it for something they already got paid for already, if that’s the case everyone who got skins that they paid for should get their money back, or start off with the equal amount of gems that was used. Like people are paying to OWN things. That’s why cod got so much backlash, they also saw a dip in skin purchases in wz2 because of not porting skins over.

Unreal 3 to 5 once again is just an update to the same engine. People paid for skins to own not borrow my guy. They didn't make it so jing wei doesn't benefit from the new passive. that's just how she works. she never gave herself extra crit, it's just the enhanced basics themselves. she's always worked that way.

I just don’t really understand the point of smite 2. It seems like overwatch 2 or counter strike 2 in terms of what you’re getting, but for some reason we need a whole new engine? The gameplay/animations are almost entirely the same, and so the only thing really using the UE5 is graphics update. Couldn’t they have just updated normal smite like counter strike 2 did for csgo or overwatch 2 essentially did for overwatch 1? Going to a whole new engine just seems unecesaary, considering how little it’s changing. From what I’ve seen and heard, it’s essentially the same game with a graphical update. A few mechanics changed here and there, some new gods, new item system, etc. but nothing that couldn’t have just been done in the current smite engine. Just seems a little cash grabby/playing catchup/wanting relevance. Ima still try it, but I just don’t really understand why they needed to fully go to a new engine with the little they are changing. Even the graphics seem unneeded for a game like this. It’s art style as is works just fine, and in many ways is timeless. I think the glossy/more real look might take away from it. Just feel like it would have made more sense to give normal smite a big update, instead of updating the graphics and slapping a 2 onto the essentially the same game. For someone like me who never spent a penny on smite, it’s gonna be a pain to have to unlock every god again. Put a good amount of time into smite over the years and got every god, a good amount of cosmetics, lots of skins, etc. and it’s sad that I’m gonna lose a lot of it now. Crappier feeling since I also spent no money getting it all. Sort of feel worse for people who actually spent money though. Smite 2 just seems unnecessary. That being said, weak3n is right, in that it’s a lot better than other gaming transition situations. It sort of fumbles though when he also says that the player base won’t be split. That everyone will be playing smite 2/should be, and in turn insinuating that everything you earned or bought in smite 1 will become irrelevant. Then lessening the argument that Hi-Rez is helping to get stuff into smite 2, and therefore strengthening the argument of people being annoyed at losing their stuff from smite 1. Essentially if everyone is gonna be playing smite 2/everyone should be playing it, then people should also have the right to then argue/be annoyed over not getting all their stuff from smite 1. Question for weak3n or anyone else though: don’t you think the game will be just as hard to get into, but just with a cover of shiny new paint? Considering the items, gameplay, pathing, and gods will largely be the same. Wouldn’t the amount of gods not matter at all? Don’t more gods actually allow for more opportunities for new players? The more or less gods things does not really seem like a valid reason for it being harder or easier. I think the abilities of the gods, the gameplay, pathing, and items are what make the game hard for new players. Considering almost all of that will be the same, how will smite 2 be better for new players? I think it will have more new players, but I don’t see how it will be different. I think Hi-Rez also knows this, and that’s partly why they are making smite 2. Fresh coat of paint and shiny new release/reveal adds more hype, and in turn brings in more new people. Hi-Rez seems to at least be trying a good amount. Hope that all made sense :)
