I always thought Shizue is his first love because of how close they were, and Rirumu told her how better off Japan was after World War II. You can tell he still misses her even after she told him to eat her after she died.
She is and the thing that makes me think that is that rimuru prefered to preserve her body inside himself,also he took her form in her rememberence and finally he remembers her a lot. If I am not mistaken when Rimiru absorbed her they took on more than just the physical looks. The mimicry taking in parts of the personality, emotions, hangups ect. fusing them silently with those present from the man whom reincarnated.

@@Jyotishjyo i kind of hope that the anime does what the manga and LN didnt and bring shizue back from the dead, Rimuru knows the secret art of ressurection and once he gets to the same power level as the Stellar King Dragon Veldanava (and yes he does in the end) and has the power to shape space, time, and existence to his will, all he needs to do is wish shizue's body into existence and perform the ressurection on her, he has her soul inside him so its entirely possible.
I just think that Rimuru doesn't do that because he honors Shizu's final wish, that is to laid rest and died like a human and her soul rest eternal in the space similar to their original world which Rimuru constructed for her within him.
I think her dying even though she was his destined one and possibly first love is actually a beautiful piece of writing that actually has a positive impact on the overall story. Fight me.

It feels weird that after Rimuru was told Shizu was the one for him, she ended up passing away. Then again her staying in the world as a soul watching over the town is unexpected.
It was told that she would bring destiny in his life and she did change rimuru a lot. A spirit visiting for Bon isn't quite the same as a spirit just hanging around, as at the end of a traditional Bon festival they light lanterns/fires to help guide the spirits back to the spirit world. Also my understanding is that this show is basically an extended omake, so it isn't exact canon.
I always prefer to believe when Rimuru agreed to eat Shizue, it was supposed to be a simple "absorption", where Rimuru would simply gain her abilities and that's it. but what actually happened was a 85/15 "fusion" where part of her remains in him and they live as one.
This made me cry and that's why I made the clip and shared with ya all. Tears were of joy or sadness, I don't know, but this inspired me to make a tribute AMV for shizue san. Nope. In Japanese folklore, those are actually spirits akin to what we would know as the Grim Reaper. They guide the deceased to the afterlife. I'm not particularly well versed on it but that's the gist of it.
Okay, that look she gives at 0:39 and the way Rimuru actually hears what she says at the little prayer alter he made for her are just hitting all the right spots.
"Slime diaries is a anthology comedy series. it won't be emotional like the recent season". This episode comes out ":( Why we still here? Just to suffer". Seriously though, this and the main series are living proof that just because something is labeled under a specific genre or tone, doesn't mean it can't pull a 180 and become something else. Serious, this show has went from slice of life comedy one moment to a Shoen show to being a drama, then back to slice of life comedy like a bi polar person.
Though it's a rare feat but anime did Rimuru and Shizu better than the LN. In the anime she was introduced as his "destined one", he saves her and Eren, they get to hang out and they get to know each other for a while before Ifrit goes on a rampage. Also Eren is there until she dies and sees Rimuru take on her appearance. In the LN there's no elf future telling scene, it's Gobta that saves her and brings her to the village, they eat dinner and talk for a bit and then Ifrit rages out. There's barely any interaction between the two and the bond they share doesn't feel as strong because of it. Shizu was really special to Rimuru. He took on her appearance, inherited her will and decided to resolve any regrets she had with the kids, Hinata and Leon so she could be at peace. You get a sense of the special connection they had in the anime where as in the LN it doesn't feel like they had time to build a connection.

This spin-off scene actually goes against the rules of the tensura verse since first of all, shizue's "spirit" or soul in inside rimuru's storage so it's not able to get out and roam around for the obon festuval. Secondly, a spirit cannot come back since it would break into magicules and become one with nature with no consciousness or will. Although this fact remain true, I still like to shizu's actually there though ;-;
I truly wish from the bottom of my heart that they'd bring shizu back to life at the end of the series.. And give an happy and sweet ending to Rimuru where he finally is with the girl who he was destined to be with, That'd be really sweet... and spectacular 💔💔
Except she hates the Tensura world, she likes helping people but she truly wanted to go back all the time, and she was already tired from living by the time she meets Rimuru given she has already exceded the human lifespan, she just wanted to rest by that point.

major spoilers but considering rimuru can literally travel through space, time, and the multiverse itself at the end of the series, he could just go back and collect shizu's soul before it disappears should he really want to revive her unfortunately he doesn't, and probably wouldn't, considering his only real actions after the end of the series were revisiting his friends from his first life and beating up some demons who thought they were stronger than him

Shizue Izawa, her story, and how it ended is what got me invested in Slime Reincarnation. That episode where she died is when I knew that this anime was truly worth investing myself into 💙
I used to watch Anime mainly based on the amount of good for nothing ecchi. But this show has me all in, the books, the humor, the sentiments, the humanity etc…

Haven't seen the full scene. did he hear her at the end there? his little self realization jerk to attention at the end there reminded me of many AnoHana scenes. they could have made this an absolute emotional devastation if they played it out more. Shizuoka is interesting, her voice acting, the depth of her backstory and the emotionally charged scenes she is in make the show much more serious. I wish the author didn't kill her off AND write in the whole "please don't resurrect me" (even though she'd enjoy her new life with Rimuru)

I always thought Shizue is his first love because of how close they were, and Rirumu told her how better off Japan was after World War II. You can tell he still misses her even after she told him to eat her after she died.
She is and the thing that makes me think that is that rimuru prefered to preserve her body inside himself,also he took her form in her rememberence and finally he remembers her a lot.

If I am not mistaken when Rimiru absorbed her they took on more than just the physical looks. The mimicry taking in parts of the personality, emotions, hangups ect. fusing them silently with those present from the man whom reincarnated.

@@Jyotishjyo i kind of hope that the anime does what the manga and LN didnt and bring shizue back from the dead, Rimuru knows the secret art of ressurection and once he gets to the same power level as the Stellar King Dragon Veldanava (and yes he does in the end) and has the power to shape space, time, and existence to his will, all he needs to do is wish shizue's body into existence and perform the ressurection on her, he has her soul inside him so its entirely possible.

I just think that Rimuru doesn't do that because he honors Shizu's final wish, that is to laid rest and died like a human and her soul rest eternal in the space similar to their original world which Rimuru constructed for her within him.
I think her dying even though she was his destined one and possibly first love is actually a beautiful piece of writing that actually has a positive impact on the overall story. Fight me.

Seriously though, this and the main series are living proof that just because something is labeled under a specific genre or tone, doesn't mean it can't pull a 180 and become something else. Serious, this show has went from slice of life comedy one moment to a Shoen show to being a drama, then back to slice of life comedy like a bi polar person.
It's truly tragic how Shizue is Rimuru soul mate yet they never got to love each other before she died shortly after meeting one another
that episode ending made me cry like little girl back then
Though it's a rare feat but anime did Rimuru and Shizu better than the LN. In the anime she was introduced as his "destined one", he saves her and Eren, they get to hang out and they get to know each other for a while before Ifrit goes on a rampage. Also Eren is there until she dies and sees Rimuru take on her appearance.
In the LN there's no elf future telling scene, it's Gobta that saves her and brings her to the village, they eat dinner and talk for a bit and then Ifrit rages out. There's barely any interaction between the two and the bond they share doesn't feel as strong because of it.
Shizu was really special to Rimuru. He took on her appearance, inherited her will and decided to resolve any regrets she had with the kids, Hinata and Leon so she could be at peace. You get a sense of the special connection they had in the anime where as in the LN it doesn't feel like they had time to build a connection.
The addition of memories surprisingly fit

This spin-off scene actually goes against the rules of the tensura verse since first of all, shizue's "spirit" or soul in inside rimuru's storage so it's not able to get out and roam around for the obon festuval. Secondly, a spirit cannot come back since it would break into magicules and become one with nature with no consciousness or will. Although this fact remain true, I still like to shizu's actually there though ;-;
I truly wish from the bottom of my heart that they'd bring shizu back to life at the end of the series..
And give an happy and sweet ending to Rimuru where he finally is with the girl who he was destined to be with,

Except she hates the Tensura world, she likes helping people but she truly wanted to go back all the time, and she was already tired from living by the time she meets Rimuru given she has already exceded the human lifespan, she just wanted to rest by that point.

considering rimuru can literally travel through space, time, and the multiverse itself at the end of the series, he could just go back and collect shizu's soul before it disappears should he really want to revive her
unfortunately he doesn't, and probably wouldn't, considering his only real actions after the end of the series were revisiting his friends from his first life and beating up some demons who thought they were stronger than him

Shizue was basically Junpei from jjk. They both die like three episodes later and still have such a great impact on the story.
Yeah but shizue had a greater impact than junpei who still feels like just a side character but shizue feels like from main cast.

cant rimuru resurrect shizue now. i mean technically he ate her and her soul and can just make a new body for her to reside in.

Haven't seen the full scene. did he hear her at the end there? his little self realization jerk to attention at the end there reminded me of many AnoHana scenes. they could have made this an absolute emotional devastation if they played it out more. Shizuoka is interesting, her voice acting, the depth of her backstory and the emotionally charged scenes she is in make the show much more serious. I wish the author didn't kill her off AND write in the whole "please don't resurrect me" (even though she'd enjoy her new life with Rimuru)
