- Congratulations to Father Marcello on his fifteenth anniversary of priestly ordination!
Father Marcello is an ardent supporter of liturgical music, especially here at St. Catherine’s. The recessional hymn this weekend, “Praise to the Holiest” is very special to Father Marcello. [listen to the video in the link here] The text was written by Blessed John Henry Newman (1801-1890), and Father Marcello wrote his graduate thesis in sacramental theology on the writings of Blessed John Henry Newman. The text of the hymn is drawn from one of Newman’s most significant works, The Dream of Gerontius (1865). This hymn has been sung at significant moments in Father Marcello’s priestly ministry, including his Mass of Installation as Pastor of Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in 2015.
Praise to the Holiest in the height,
And in the depth be praise:
In all His words most wonderful;
Most sure in all His ways.
Ad multos annos !
