You are the sweetest lady. I just love your videos. Love the animals the way they jump around. You put a smile on my face. You are loved. God bless you. ❤❤
Something you want to consider with your plastic sheeting this Spring… you can take it loose at the bottom, roll it up, and simply tie up the rolls at/above the window areas. Hay string works well to tie it up. That’s what my Dad always did with his plastic sheeting. He raised chickens all my life. Winter is the worst time of year for animal farms.
Being a past owner of farm animals.. I have to give a heartfelt Thank You to to ALL farm sitters who make it possible to have our farms. Without dependable Back Up... it simply doesn't work. A special Thanks to G&G for being there for Jason & Brooke.. for those 'special' times of need. Farmers gotta stick together. Seems like your decision to delay your own adventure is a wise choice. Listen to your gut. 💖
Catherine, I doubt you will ever regret postponing your mini-vacation. Years ago a coworker and her husband decided to go to Tennessee on vacation. Weather forecasts for here (metro Atlanta GA), clearly indicated a strong Arctic blast would 'most likely' hit metro Atlanta. They went on vacation anyway and made zero preparations re their home or pets. They had a great long weekend in the mountains but could not return as planned - Atlanta was dealing with black ice so it was gridlock on all the affected interstates. Trees fell on their powerlines so no electricity. They had automatic feeders for all their indoor cats. The heaters for their tanks of exotic fish ceased functioning. Water lines burst so water damage was extensive. And of course a pine tree fell on their house. It was awful. Peace-of-mind is priceless! You and Tony will be exactly where you need to be all weekend. Besides, your sweet gosling needs cuddles from hooman Mama Catherine all weekend.
Hey! Good job on the winterizing! Loved seeing all the critters getting all feisty 😂 That little gosling... oh my word! Cuteness overload!!! I'm sorry your getaway plans had to change but I'm like you... I'd worry 24/7 about what was going on back home and not be able to enjoy myself. You definitely deserve a break but being stressed the whole time wouldn't be relaxing, restful, or enjoyable. Vacation time will come... hang in there! ❤ Hugs to you both! ❤
i need a hat for this cold Scottish weather, but i cannot wear one, they make me sweat and itch, so i have to wear a hoodie instead and look like a young thug lol....those chicks should be nice and cosy now, well done
I am 80 years old, and this old woman wears a hoodie even in the summer, because of the air conditioning! I would rather looks a little funny, than be uncomfortable.
Catherine, thank you for your faithfulness in posting interesting videos for us. Your music choices are always appreciated and appropriate. Love them!❤
I hear you love farming and I love to hear you talk about it, soooooo rewarding. Your animals are very interesting,my favorite are the chickens🐓🐔🐣🐤🍳⛄️🌦️🌈☀️❤️‼️☕️🇺🇸
I completely understand how you feel about not being comfortable leaving all of your babies in this kind of weather! Nobody can take care of your house and animals the way you can if there were an emergency and going away would cause more stress on you not knowing what was going on back home! You’ll be so much more relaxed when you finally do go away. Love the new baby gosling. Love his/her name.
Its been super cold here in Maryland with those frigid winds. My chickens won't even come out of the run because of the snow. So funny. Stay warm. The gosling is super cute. Nellie was really cutting up at the end. So sweet
Was taught young by my Dad using tuna fish tins: hot water on frozen water refreezes faster than cold water atop the frozen. I was given the homework with time frames for checking results. It is a true fact
Good morning Catherine, you should wear a warm scarf like Brooke and do up the Jacket to keep your core warm as you share your warmth with us, harvesting warmth in our hearts and joyful smiles on our faces. Good luck on the nippy weather coming your way, I’m sure the farm community will appreciate and feel the warmth that you have provided. In postponing your vacation plans, it may turn out to be if one door closes then the Lord will open some other doors for a Stay at Home Vacation. That gosling is the cutest it’s nice to hear it’s voice. 😀👍🥰👍🥰👍🥰
No doubt your animals thank you for the extra steps you have taken before the storm. Baby gosling is adorable! Spunky Nellie is amped up! Take care and stay warm! ❤😊
I hate y’all didn’t get to go on your mini vacation but I totally understand your concerns with the crazy winter weather. Here in East Texas we hardly ever get much extreme cold but this week is looking different. Your little Webster/Queen is so cute! You are so good with taking care of any of your animals or other peoples animals (Cog Hill) that have issues! I guess your nursing background helps! Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend and it doesn’t get too cold there! Us Southerns are just not use to it!😂
So sorry your not getting your break Catherine. You work so hard, you deserve a break. But it's completely understandable why you cancelled. I hope you do get a break sometime soon 😊
So sorry to hear that you are not able to go on your mini vacation. Hopefully you can plan another time soon. The goslin is getting big quick. I wonder if Tony is going to have to change out of his shorts. If it gets as cold as it suppose to be oh my Tony. HA HA Have a wonderful day. Keep warm and safe. God Bless.
i know you will feel better knowing your gonna be home for the big freezing temps to care for your babies !! The baby goose is adorable , it may be lonesome maybe give it a fluffy stuffed animal to snuggled up with !! y’all stay warm is freezing here in Ohio my car is covered in snow and we have another snow storm coming Friday and saturday suppose to drop another 3-5 inches !! Stay warm and inside as much as possible maybe make a bubonic chili, stew or soup with some bread to enjoy !! ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
I’m not excited about this weather! We’ve been doing the same thing Making sure everyone is all tucked in and protected the best we can. Stay warm my friend!
I Love the baby names you picked for the lil gosling. I know you an Mr.Tony will have a blast whenever y'all get to where y'all are gettin when yall get there . Lol God Bless & Farm On 💯🙏❤🇺🇸
Here in Ottawa we use plastic sheets too. We have to use slats of wood to help keep the plastic sheets to stay in place. The will blow it away usually staples alone will stay in place. It will just rip.
I thought you might put your minivay on hold til the arctic blast leaves. Only cause I have a feeling you're kinda like me in that we have so many things that are done on the farm when bad weather is there that you don't want to forget to tell someone how to do somethin and they have the question and who knows if they can get through to you or whatever. It's just easier to postpone the trip for an easier time with no major storm comin. Now I don't have a farm but when I leave my little apartment I have to tell someone, usually my brother, how to do things and how I do it. It's usually my plants on the inside and tomatoes on the out. Not hard, but trust me my brother isn't good at doing things unless I write down specifics. Anyway, I love your farm and the animals. Especially the little gosling, it is so cute! I just pray an emu chick is gonna be piping soon! Stay safe and warm. God bless.😊❤
No worries, I only got 1 VACATION in 50 years So I made the best of it out west. Took 3 weeks traveling, super fun meeting interesting people and as the Creator would have it, met 4 peoples from my home town, felt like I never left. My best fun was the booths setting , fair type of all stones, jewelry, pottery made by the local Native INDIANS. I don't care if I ever take another vacation. Farm life is the best. Baby goss is so precious! Everyone is so glad you never left.
I highly recommend using plexiglass instead. It can be quickly and easily installed using screws&washers. Pretrial your holes. Screws & washers can be left in the holes when plexiglass is not in use.
Thanks for the update and Keep Warm.. Sorry about your Vacation but as you said with this weather You properly wouldn't have really enjoyed.it :( Happy for the Baby looks like it is getting Great Care! I know ALL your animals are going to be just fine.. But this Crap Weather can take a Hike to the North Pole Santa this is Not What we wanted!! Farm On!!
I hope it all works.here in Michigan is 26 degrees.i only have one rooster and six hens, but had to move a hen in due to rooster mounting to much, but I have to separate the rooster but still in coop.putting hardwire mesh to separate.
Pretty sure you wouldn’t enjoy yourselves on a vacation worrying about the farm and animals . When you can I hope you both have a good time when you get a chance under better circumstances 🙏💙🩷🥰Happy you got the cutest Gosling to better health you are amazing and it’s so sweet! Stay warm there thinking about y’all!🙏❤️🥰
It is sad when you have to put off a mini vacation, just no sense in going away and worrying the whole time you are gone! When you get to go on your Mini Vacation You will be so Thankful. 🤗🤗💞💞💙💙
Dear Catherine I would recomend to wear a scarf 🧣. You will feel much warmer when your neck and neckline are protected from the cold. You are loosing a lot of heat through the head and neck. Stay warm and wear a woolly hat, 🧣🧤🧤. Greetings from🇨🇭 ->❄️🏔️☃️
Saying that chickens are low to the ground and smaller, I get what you’re trying to say about the plastic at top, which is what I would’ve done to, but they are definitely going to feel that cold frigid breeze coming in lower to the ground. You said he rises, but I have to tell you out in that cold. There is no heat to rise. 😂
Everything worked out for the best, you would not enjoyed yourselves for worrying about what was going on back at home, that’s part of being a mom, no matter if their two or four legged, Stay warm and as you say farm on. ❤️U all
Nellie running & bucking was so cute. 😍 I'm glad you decided to postpone your vacation. You will enjoy it much more later when you don't have to worry about the storms coming in. ❤️❤️❤️
Unfortunately weather dictates a lot of what we do. I wouldn't feel at ease and enjoy a trip, knowing so many things can go wrong!! You will find another way!! In the meantime be at peace with the fact you are there in this cold time!! It's cold everywhere!! Everyone stay warm and safe!!!
Talk to brook and check how old cheese was when they added him to their chicken flock, he keeps the predators from above in the sky, from getting picked off by hawks and bigger birds. They are not only bigger, but also raise a loud alarm when anything comes near his chickens.
Catherine you are a very smart lady and while leaving the farm is for sure stressful it shouldn’t be during abnormal circumstances like an arctic blast. Very smart to decide to stay and take your mini vacation at another time. I think the stress you were feeling was your heart telling you it wasn’t the right time. God bless and stay warm. 🥰🍁❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦
I'm thinking the plastic should have been on the other side, letting the wind push it against the chicken wire. You can also cut strips of cardboard, about 1 inch wide and place against the plastic and then staple. Will help keep plastic from ripping out!! Plastic should draw heat from the sun and help warm it up! Just trying to give you help from an old man!! Take care of yourself, family and the animals!! Still praying for baby Emus!!
Start saving your paper feed sacks. When you take them apart they’re two pcs. You could use them on the wood planks to help keep the cold 🥶 air out. Easy to remove !
Oh Miss Catherine I'm afraid the wind may damage that plastic more easily than if you'd stapled in on the outside. I may be wrong however. Hope the wind isn't too brutal.
Looks like maybe the wind might blow it into the area when the wind blows from the outside.(hope not, but understand why you did it, though) careful it does not blow onto the heat lamp! Smart idea to postpone your vacation....you would not be able to relax! God knows best! Always listen to your gut! Listen to Brooke and wear your scarf! Do the goats show any interest in your wires and extdnsion cords on the wall? Stay warm and safe! God Bless! 😊❤🙏
Brrr that cold!!! Praying everyone stays warm. Sorry you had to postpone vacation!! You wouldn't have been able to enjoy yourselves because of worry. I'm sure Tony is going to have his hands full for a while with the fires in California but I hope you get back to the vacation plans soon! I'm so glad you've been able to get the gosling better!!
The more you started listing all the possibilities of what the sitter might have to do even I started to get a little nervy and concerned. I thought Catherine is going to worry so much that the mini vacay won’t be fun. So glad you postponed your plans til later. Now I don’t have to worry with you! Seems like the south is edging towards colder winters the last few years. At least you have time to properly prepare. The farm will be nice ‘n cozy. Stay warm and safe.🧦🔥🫕🍿🧣☕️🍞 As always, from CA🏖️ take care.🙏🏼
Awesome video Catherine, I’d want to do the same as you & just stay home & make sure everyone’s taken care of. Better to be there & happy with all your kids than somewhere else & be worried about them. Love you, love your channel & love all your animals. ❤️🙏🙌
Idk if you know this or not, but I'm going to give you some helpful advice like i have told other's and their happy that i did! Inside your house what is best to do when it is cold outside is open all your cabinets doors for the heat to get into the pipes, plus turn your cold water on a small stream and if it's like that all day long just leave it all! And for the outside, turn on all your outdoors faults to a small stream to in doing so help keeps any pipes from freezing up!😊❤❤❤
Webster is a neat name for the new addition. Catherine- when you’re working outside in the cold May I recommend a scarf around your neck & down the front of your jacket; you’ll keep the heat in & be more comfy. Also , I always wear sunglasses… keeps the cold off your eyes & that seems to help also. That’s it from this Wisconsin lady. Farm on!
You could not have enjoyed your vacation worrying about the farm. Rescheduling for better weather is a smart plan. Take care!
You are the sweetest lady. I just love your videos. Love the animals the way they jump around. You put a smile on my face. You are loved. God bless you. ❤❤
We definitely understand your decision to stay at home. Vacation is not fun when you are worried about home.

Goose or gander it's the sweetest thing ever❤
the gosling is sweet. May it continue to get healthier and give you much enjoyment
Im sorry your plans changed but like you said there maybe a reason. Thats a Godwink. Please stay safe and warm. Love ya ❤❤
I have had a saying for years that I have learned over time. There's a reason for everything. We may not always know why.

Hi, you may want to roll it up and strap it up. So if you would need it again, just let it down.
Stay warm Catherine
Webster is a cutie! Take care of yourself, vacation or not! Prayers for health and safety!🙏❤️🙏
Stay warm and safe ❤
You absolutely made the right decision to stay. You would have worried more than having fun.
Here in Ottawa we use plastic sheets too. We have to use slats of wood to help keep the plastic sheets to stay in place. The will blow it away usually staples alone will stay in place. It will just rip.
I thought you might put your minivay on hold til the arctic blast leaves. Good Morning ❤
No worries, I only got 1 VACATION in 50 years
So I made the best of it out west.

I'm glad that Brooke and Jason referred viewers to your channel and Tony's. They are such a charming, peaceful break from national news.
News is so depressing! Animals and farming is much better for the soul!❤️
I hope it all works.here in Michigan is 26 degrees.i only have one rooster and six hens, but had to move a hen in due to rooster mounting to much, but I have to separate the rooster but still in coop.putting hardwire mesh to separate.

I am glad that you decided to stay home. You would have worried the whole time away.

Staying home provides peace of mind. Going away on vacation is optional, and rescheduling is not against the law.
Aww just loving watching all you babie run and jump around cause their so happy momma!😊❤❤❤
You could always have the farm sitter come and show them through all the things you talked about so you can take a vacation
