hi Mark I'm catching you up! my outlaw is getting a rub down prior to fitting the wings, and thought I'd see how my virtual mentor does it great heads up Again very clear visuals and speach so I really shouldn't mess it up notice this was 3years ago, pre stroke and COVID. thank you so much for investing time and money into producing this awesome library of aeroplane builds . hope you are well in September 2023 greetings from Suffolk, xx
Hi mark, very nicely demonstrated. Just a small tip when I make my wing tip block laminates I put a sheet of 32nd balsa in the centre of the laminates, this means as your shaping the 32nd is always visible and acts as a natural centre line
Mark this is such a timely and helpful video, thank you! I’ve been staring at two large blocks of balsa and fretting over how I can possibly shape them!! 🙏🏻👍🏻
Hi there, thanks for the comment, there will be a whole build series on the Avanti, but need to get it all finished and edited, so realistically it will be a few weeks yet
Thanks for the comment, pleased you liked the video and thanks for the great suggestion. This video may help, its a review of the David balsa plane, but in it I am making ailerons. th-cam.com/video/DrlK25uvdXk/w-d-xo.html
Please could you tell me what is the model and make of the planer you are using? I tried to do a search for a plane for using on balsa models but all i get is lots of links to balsa model aeroplanes!
@@MarkRobinson555 You're welcome Mark, I love watching other build channels, you never stop learning (and forgetting!). I've never made two parts for the same side 🙄😁
The centerline should be drawn on before tracing the airfoil from the wing. When the block is placed up against the terminal rib you line the centerline up with the leading and trailing edge. Hollowing out the tip is more important than just general weight savings. When the plane rolls the resistance to rotation is proportional to the distance of the mass from the axis of rotation. The tips should be as light as possible.

Nicely done Mark.
Thanks Norm, really appreciate your support
Mark, I’m enjoying your videos as you are a natural modeler. Skilled from experience and intelligent as far as engineering mindset.
Thank you very much for your kind comment and support, it is really appreciated

Very thorough Mark, also worth mentioning try not to make two tips for the same side 😁
Hahahahaha, thanks for the tip! Is that the voice of experience? Thanks for the comment and the support of my channel, its appreciated
