Lego 7898 Review
The set contains a cargo train, consisting of a green electric locomotive, a side-tipping wagon, boxcar, crane car and flatbed. Also included are a forklift, liftable roadster, flatbed truck, twenty curved, 8 straight, and two turnout rails, and five minifigures.
Notes
This set was included in the Product Collections set 66239 Train Super Set.
This set needed 9 AA batteries for it to function.
This set along with 7897 are the only LEGO train sets to have a horn function.

What I find cool about this train is that it is like half 9v and the other half is like the beginning of powerfunctions cus PF came out the next year and it uses 9v lights and cables b it no electrified track so it’s a hybrid it’s a cool train and it’s nice that it has 4 cars instead of 3 like every other cargo train from LEGO in recent years

It's wild to think that the truck with tires is wider than the train. I think Lego should start making 8-wide rolling stock if they're going to make 6-wide road vehicles.

@@steamrollerboi16 it did! i built it then started saving up for more sets i wanted, now i have the 7897 passenger train, horizon express, and the maersk train to build, with my savings now going towards the emerald night. after that it will most likely be the santa fe train with some carriages.
@@joseramalho3297 out of the box no. but if you look up robin hood bricks i think he converted one of these to work on power functions.

The only set to have the horn functions. Power functions was introduced to Lego around 2007 with 7939 (cargo train) being the first set to have power functions, released in 2010 followed by 3677, 4511 (world city set) 7938, 60051, 60052, and 60098, before switching to Bluetooth in 2020, with 60197, 60198, 60336, and 60337. The only sets that I didn’t mention was the horizon express, the Maersk train and the Emerald Night because it did not include power functions.

i would decide depanding on price and quality of the set, as collector it is a must have, but when you only want a Lego Cargo Train buy 60052 or 60098.
we have both those 60052 2 years ago and 60098 yesterday (yay!) along with 7939 and 7897 I have wanted to get it since i first saw it

AustrianLegoFan It doesn't include this new magnets for me, but I checked the BrickLink inventory of this set and it says it came with the new and the old, too. :) Maybe the old one in Europe or I don't know.
