I don’t know what “Rest in Peace” means, that’s just what people say, but he lived a good life, made a lot of people happy with his music and his upbeat style. PPM was a great act.

A cordial and kind man I would run into at various folk festivals. He once paid me a "left-handed" compliment, calling me the "Dylan of bass players" for my preference in using the electric bass versus an acoustic bass. Always a smile and a friendly word. Rest well, Peter, and thank you
Peter, Paul and Mary was one of the greatest Folk groups of all time! I can still hear them harmonizing on “Leaving On A Jet Plane (which made John Denver famous as a songwriter),” “If I Had A Hammer,” “Don’t Let The Light Go Out,” “Blowin’ In The Wind,” and “Puff The Magic Dragon (which Peter Yarrow found the original writer of the poem which he based the song on after many years and shared the songwriting rights with him!). Rest In Peace and Power Peter.😢
My parents were big time enthusiasts of Folk Music and I can remember growing up listening to Peter Paul and Mary along with Pete Seager almost constantly. Later on I also found out he wrote Torn between two Lovers and I can remember hearing THAT song on the radio constantly when I was a kid.
I only heard of Peters death.Peter PaulAnd Mary Travers also who died in 2009. There folk songs most written by Bob Dylon and my favourite of my childhood days Puff The Magic Dragon ❤. There harmonies were beautifully harmonized to perfection. Godbless You Pete and Mary Travis.GodBless you 🙏🙏🕊🕊🦋🦋🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹✌🕊AMEN
I’m swept with emotions…. Sadness at his passing, happiness at being privileged to see them perform live, gratitude for inspiring me to learn the guitar and sing, and melancholy of my age. My first ever concert was in 1964 when I was 10. My sister and brother convinced my mom and dad to let them take me to the Saratoga civic center to see them perform. “Puff the Magic Dragon” was the only song I knew, but my brother learned all their songs on guitar with a song book and I watched him play and sing constantly. Now (as soon as his little fingers can reach) I’ll be teaching my grandson their songs! Thank you Thank you Thank you for bringing music to my life 🙏🙏🙏 “The answer is blowing in the wind. 😢
PP&M were the first folk singers who made he realized that folk music was more than Michael rowing the boat. They exposed me to Bob Dylan’s and Gordon Lightfoot’s music and made me a confirmed folkie.
They were the bridge for Dylan to connect faster with a wider audience than he could ever have done himself, as he played the folk clubs of NY. Blowing In The Win made him internationally visible and opened the door for all of Dylan’s classic songs that clearly reflected the changing mood of youth in the America of the 1960’s. Vietnam, The Draft, Civil Rights and the breaking of the conservative 1950’s culture that kept people ( women, non WASP & others) “in their place.”

I’m pretty sure that Paul wrote the Wedding Song.
“There Is Love.” I think Noel Paul Stookey wrote that one and it became a solo hit for him.
