    believe in the run, also say the shoe performs pretty well on tarmac

    Just ran a 70km / 5000m elevation with these included alpine technical stuff, very impressed. The cushion is perfect (Speedgoats are too much for me) and I never felt unstable, which was quite a surprise considering the upper. The wide toebox is a big plus for this kind of distance and in the descents, they feel quick, comfortable and secure. Definitely the best long distance shoe I ever used

      @@AlexFilitti Will do, already got the sg4 and mont blanc so can't wait to have a comparison.
      I reckon the tecton x will be king of the hill, there's a good road section as well.

      @@AlexFilitti Gave them a quick go, fast, firm underneath. Hard on my tired legs, but the propulsive effect helped keep me going, as I did a hard half marathon just two days ago, so still feeling tender from it.
      I also feel that they need breaking in to get the best, so I'll probably be wearing them daily until my big run this Sunday.

    Thanks for the review Alex. I run mostly trails below 20km so I’d rather wait for the Salomon Pulsar SG as my next purchase of an expensive trail shoe. The concern you raised about flexibility up-front also has me worried a little. The most flexible trail shoe I own is the VJ Spark. It does amazing when climbing. I prefer them to my Salomon Sense 7SG. I know you focus more on road shoes than trail shoes, but I encourage you to try VJ. Small suggestion: when you say the name of your new website, please say it MORE SLOWLY and have the name appear on the screen a little longer if you can. I will definitely check it soon. Bonjour du Québec.

      meta-endurance.com - apologies for spelling it too fast...too much excitement for me :-) One cool feature is the shoe supertool, happy to hear from you if you test it. And I will keep an eye on VJ, thanks for the recommendation!! Bonjour de Belgique :-)

    I guess using this for the UTMB and CCC will be fine but I'll probably go Speedgoat 5 for the TDS this summer.
    And regarding price yeah it's high but maybe its still ok for a racer. Remember the EVO speedgoat was already 179€ with no plates 🙊

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All very good points! Thanks for sharing. What made you decide for the SG5? And what were the other contenders?

      @@AlexFilitti Well I'm happy with Hoka for years now. First I had two pairs of EVO Mafate 1 and last two race seasons I did with two pairs of EVO Speedgoat. Since there is no EVO anymore the 5 was the logical choice tough I might be temptes to try the TectonX for easier races then TDS.

    Looks nice. Don't run that much trails anymore staying more on the roads

      Well this can handle both surfaces quite well.

    In Australia, the Tecton X is $320!

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a bit more than USD 200 indeed...

  • @Huxley555

    And vs the mont blanc?
    Got my second ultra coming up, used the mb but this time Olympus 4 I reckon.

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I should do a head to head but Tecton X wins overall I would say. MB would have my preference for longer stuff but Tecton X is more dynamic, agile and feels faster. Hope this helps

    • @Huxley555
      @Huxley555 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Alex Filitti Thanks, interesting if that's the case. I'm thinking mb would be better for more technical terrain.

    Good for road to trail races under marathon distance?

  • @matthiassventoest6800
    @matthiassventoest6800 ปีที่แล้ว

    down to 140 stateside.., so now may the time.., especially since I think the tecton x 2, is going to be 220 $usd ??😮

  • @piggy6801
    @piggy6801 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The price does seem high. I would have expected it to be 180$ tops, but maybe even closer to 160$

    Great video. Keep the content coming!!!
    I'm looking to buy a pair of trail running shoes for an event I am running in September. I make 3 videos a week about my training, and my latest upload is about running shoes.
    In that video I talk about how pink and black is my favourite colour for running shoes, but I can't find a pair of pink and black trail runners. Do you know of any you can recommend?

      Thank you! I can be wrong but I think Saucony has something like that coming up…but I don’t remember when. Check endorphin edge if I remember well…

    Already run on them 50km ,was not impressed at all. I was expecting a commuter from road to trail but didn't like the road performance at all. Not bad at the trail though but not worth of 200+€

    • @scottwells4705
      @scottwells4705 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re the only person who has said they didn’t like the road performance

      @ahmetguney9156 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scottwells4705 i was also under the impression that they would do Ok on the road that's why spent that much money. While running you feel the vibram outsole which does not make the ride fun at all.They are OK but for 200€ ,i'd expect something better than OK

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get your point, Ahmet. At €200 there are better road-only shoes. Yes. But here my main point was that they nailed not only a plated trail shoe but also a plated road shoe, and given my recent experience in the Carbon X 3, it's a good thing. Thanks a lot for your comment.
