    Great video! I would like to make a recommendation of having a carbon filter and fan added to your workspace for increased ventilation, the fan to blow away the fumes when working with resin as inhaling these are dangerous for your health and the carbon filter to pull excess fumes and clean up the extra funk in the area.

      Thanks! I usually wear a mask and have the garage door open for good ventilation. Maybe there will be carbon filter fan build in the future ;)

      I use a 7/16" Metal dowel. For metric I would use a 10mm dowel.

    Hey Climber Dad . My son has started making holds out of Fiberglass resin. He has not had much success coloring them. Any paint he has tried has effected quality and drying time significantly. What should he be using for color? Thanks!

      If you can find a powered color mix for concrete I remember that working good back in the 90s :)

    Why do you use 20 minute spackle? We use green for the first coat and blue for finish coats. You don't have to mix it plus it's much easier to sand.

      The regular stuff takes too long to dry here.

    Great and informative video! I was wondering, are you using organic or inorganic pigments for colouring the holds? I was told either can be used. Also, is it better to pour the colour in component A and then mix it with component B, or could you just add the colour in the final mix? Thanks :)

      Once you mix a+b the process of gardening begins and you have limited time. This is why manufacturers recommend mixing color in first then a+b together.

    The hold comes out smooth to me what I need to put on in order for it to come out as rough as in the video?

      It's all about what you are molding and how you mold it.

    Keep making videos climber dad! You videos have inspired me to make my own training wall on the side of the house (still in progress).
    Would love to see you try make holds with clay as a mould instead of silicone.

    Isn’t resin toxic? Most shapers wear a mask when mixing poly resins....

    • @climberdad
      @climberdad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some more than others. This resin is pretty safe and I have a massive fan in the background circulating air.
