I have the 2006 model of the car shown here with 268 000km on the clock. There has been one electronic fault on the car, and that's it. Nothing else has gone wrong. It still gets a real 7L/100km (which is 6.3l/100km on the trip computer). Easily the best car I have owned.
@@Leon4f I do drive quite conservatively, but I've never had an average of 8 even when having fun. The civic trip computer is about 0.7L/100km optimistic, so mine reads 6.3 on average. It has been 7 on occasion which is a real 7.7. In any case, three things really help my fuel economy: 1. Tyres at the correct pressure, even slightly over inflated. Like 2.3 or 2.4 bar on 2.2 tyres 2. Playing the game of trying to never touch the brake, which means you have to avoid over accelerating 3. Accelerate downhill, and decelerate uphill. At worst keep a steady speed uphill, but never accelerate. On the motorway this alone makes > 1L/100km difference. I've had the trip computer read under 5 between Edenvale and Fourways on the JHB N1 with this trick (edit) Anyway, hope this essay helps!

It does have a huge boot and good interior space, very neutral and easy handling. Even better with lowered suspension and uprated brake pads. They are easy to maintain with simple tools and don't cost a lot to run. They will suit certain people very well but won't ever set the world on fire.
The worst thing about them is their ride quality. Even with brand new suspension and the best tyres on smaller wheels it's only just about acceptable. Not enough to get rid of the car but almost all other hatchbacks ride better. Sometimes I wish I bought a 2.0 Honda Accord instead...
In isolation yes but drive any Golf, Astra or most other hatchbacks and you notice the difference in ride. It's nothing you can't get used to in the Civic however and the cabin ergonomics including the seats are very good otherwise.

Civics are always somehow both far more advanced and luxurious than their price point and age suggests... and at the same time so arcane and convoluted that you wish they kept it simple and just did things like everyone else. Car is like new only thing I did was change the clutch, previous owner didnt know how to drive it I guess, clutch problems at 75,000k, don't know how she did it, had to get the air con repaired and the windscreen washer bottle leaks😅. Mine is a amt(i-shift), took me a while to get used to it, now I love it. It's a keeper
I think I just jinxed my car, I washed it and put air in the tyres with my special machine. I think it took up the last of my battery power. Now my wife has to bring my booster lol!
Sadly the 1.8L civic doesnt have vtec that kicks in... The R18's i-vtec is fuel-economy oriented. But still great car and great video, ive bought the same civic recently aswell ^^

@@drivepovofficial It wont be exactly the same cause honda decided (for whatever reason) that the automatic should only have 5 gears not 6, so it has a harder time getting up to the revs where it has the propper torque. But it should still be fine, ill still enjoy it a lot ^^
You can feel difference after 3500rpm (when became more agressive and rise adrenaline)but not real as by Type R at least its baby R :) but what can do way much better is Economy Anyway my Car is Civic 2010 Sport GT(Germany)
I have been contacted by a friend who is getting rid of Type S 1.8 because of reasons that are not related to the car. I did a drive test the other day and overall the experience was positive, I liked the car...but I gotta say the acceleration disappointed me quite a bit. I was definetely expecting more humpf. It didn't feel quick...I guess it is (9 secs 0-100 is not bad for a regular car) but it felt underwhelming.

It's simply a great overall car. It's funky, it drive really well dynamically, it's pretty economic if you are trying. Just find one in as good of a state as possible and you'll be happy with it 👌

Just got one of these from the same generation (2011) and it's great. One major downside is the lack of modifications you can purchase for the car and it seems like Golf's have way more mods available for them.
I drive a 2014 Seat leon 1.2 tsi. I love the car from a styling perspective, practical perspective and driving position but the engine is awful. Its very obvious that its a way to small engine for the car size put on sterioids to get 110hp. It has no problems accelerating but when it comes to raw strength its way to flimsy. I stalled my old daily like 3-4 times in my 3 years of driving it but i still stall the Seat from time to time even after 4000km Thats what i love about good Japanese engines. They know what they are and do it damn well.
I own the 1.8 type S, i have the feeling that the car has less power in 5th gear than at the beginning when i got it, have anyone experienced similar " Problems "? As soon i hit 170 km/h, the car nearly does nothing, it takes long time yo reach 200 for me
Best to get it looked at with a mechanic, could be sparks, coils, o2 sensor, map/maf sensor. Diagnosing your cars issue on the internet is never successful. 😁

Every engine in this model is unbelievably reliable, you will never ever have problems. Mine has 163,000km and runs like a clock. This is the best generation in my opinion.

@@Clarke2316you should try it sometimes. Cars are ment to be driven, revs are there for you to use them, just make sure everything is up to temp before you go hard 😉
From my own and anecdotal experience, gas is always better than diesel. I have a 1.4 i-VTEC, it's a small displacement engine, but it is reliable and you get about 30+ MPG, even 40 MPG, if you're light on the gas pedal.
The 10th Civic 1.8 has the same engine with similar horsepower and torque but this manual can make it just 4 secs from 0-60, cvt makes it 10.9 secs.....😂😂
Have also same civic color interior etc microphone same , just diesel and i love it also a lot but sound if need drive somewhere 1000+km very annoing 😐

@@drivepovofficial I found a nice after lifts.Established LPG installation, therefore the car is very low. - CAI Injen installed - car audio - radio 2 kenwood + mentioned: door snickers + door voice + mute + subwoofer in the trunk - Rear camera -Original 17 'Type S wheels painted black. I wonder if it's not overcomplicated. especially since he had 2 damage - replaced broken windshield (collision) -replacement of the bumper + repainting of the flap outline.

8 seconds on speedometer or GPS? I doubt it, the speedo in those cars shows 7-8 km/h more than real speed. The factory declared time is just under 9 seconds

Previously i got civic fd 1.8 running with r18 engine..might be its depend on how we treat and proper service but i did maintaining very well..yet the engine got leaking everywhere..
The R18 is known to be a very reliable engine. Not quite as torquey and modern as some of the smaller car engines that came around in the same era, such as VW's TSI, but also not nearly as problematic.
J'avoue çà me rappelle un pote avec çà 9 (1.8 aussi). Très bonne voiture, fiable (1compresseur de clim à 110k sinon ras et je suis à 140k actuellement). Suspension un peu raide, on a mal pour la voiture (car raide) mais à l'intérieur on est bien installé (à l'avant car l'arrière çà reste comme souvent assez moyen). Visibilité arrière quasi nulle mais on s'en fiche on va le plus souvent en marche avant xD. Moteur souple (6ème à 42/45km/h) pour rouler pépère et si besoin Vtec dès les 4200tr. C'est une atmo il ne faut pas l'oublier, pour cela qu'elle peut paraître molle selon la conduite. Pas une sportive, çà reste un ivtec (evtec pour la 9) et non un vtec, donc axé réduction carburant mais c'est suffisamment dynamique pour le quotidien, les longs trajets et se faire plaisir. Conso sur nationale (80/90km/h) 6,2l/100 en E98 - 6,4/6,5 en E95 - 6,8l avec 95E10 - 60% 95E10 + 40% avec E85 7,4/100 Record conso 5,4/100. En tout cas quand je vois le coût d'entretient d'autres voitures, la fiabilité, la consommation des petites essences turbos franchement çà me donne pas envie de changer.

I think the Type S was the top trim level and it included a sporty bodykit and some more options like heated seats. 👌
Type S has 2 doors only while the elegance is a 4-door sedan. Also there is the 1.8 executive which is basically the same as the 1.8 sport.

Salut eu am cumparat de la mine din Iasi una acum trei saptamani , e super nu am cuvinte decat de lauda am avut ultimi 13 ani un golf 1,9 motorina 105 k nu mai e ce a fost masina nemteasca , picat motor, DPF, tandem ,turbina rectificata 5000 lei motor cu ambereaj kit 10000 lei si am luat pe ea 12ooo lei , ce am mai cheltuit in jur total 17000 lei sa iau 12ooo lei si pe Honda civic am dat 6000 euro 138000k la bord , curati pe bune cu tot la reprezentanta facute revizii. Suces la cautari mare atentie la samsari , chiar e super faina la condus si nu consuma mult fata de golf, 7% oras e fantastic cu atatia k .

From my own and anecdotal experience, gas is always better than diesel. I have a 1.4 i-VTEC, it's a small displacement engine, but it is reliable and you get about 30+ MPG, even 40 MPG, if you're light on the gas pedal.
Also the diesel is at least 100kg heavier, with certainly doesn't help handling
The 10th Civic 1.8 has the same engine with similar horsepower and torque but this manual can make it just 4 secs from 0-60, cvt makes it 10.9 secs.....😂😂

Thank you! Yes indeed, the car wasn't in great shape, no tread left on winter tyre and engine mount was completely gone. I'm sure it can do better with good summer tyres.

8 seconds on speedometer or GPS? I doubt it, the speedo in those cars shows 7-8 km/h more than real speed. The factory declared time is just under 9 seconds

Not significantly but there is a bit of a difference due to the extra torque of the diesel engine. 👌
@@drivepovofficial With my 2.0 tdi 140 hp on golf 6 I have 5 seconds (80-120). It has the same weight as Honda . But I think Honda is faster when it comes to 0-200...

@@drivepovofficial A lot of people say that a gasoline engine without turbo has better accelerations than a diesel engine ,but I don t think so when it comes to 0-100, 40-80, 80-120. Maybe only when in comes to 0-200. On the other hand , a gasoline turbo engine is much faster than a diesel engine .

Previously i got civic fd 1.8 running with r18 engine..might be its depend on how we treat and proper service but i did maintaining very well..yet the engine got leaking everywhere..

The R18 is known to be a very reliable engine. Not quite as torquey and modern as some of the smaller car engines that came around in the same era, such as VW's TSI, but also not nearly as problematic.

J'avoue çà me rappelle un pote avec çà 9 (1.8 aussi).
Très bonne voiture, fiable (1compresseur de clim à 110k sinon ras et je suis à 140k actuellement).
Suspension un peu raide, on a mal pour la voiture (car raide) mais à l'intérieur on est bien installé (à l'avant car l'arrière çà reste comme souvent assez moyen).
Visibilité arrière quasi nulle mais on s'en fiche on va le plus souvent en marche avant xD.
Moteur souple (6ème à 42/45km/h) pour rouler pépère et si besoin Vtec dès les 4200tr. C'est une atmo il ne faut pas l'oublier, pour cela qu'elle peut paraître molle selon la conduite.
Pas une sportive, çà reste un ivtec (evtec pour la 9) et non un vtec, donc axé réduction carburant mais c'est suffisamment dynamique pour le quotidien, les longs trajets et se faire plaisir.
Conso sur nationale (80/90km/h) 6,2l/100 en E98 - 6,4/6,5 en E95 - 6,8l avec 95E10 - 60% 95E10 + 40% avec E85 7,4/100
Record conso 5,4/100.
En tout cas quand je vois le coût d'entretient d'autres voitures, la fiabilité, la consommation des petites essences turbos franchement çà me donne pas envie de changer.
