Despite their name, peacock pheasants are neither peafowl or pheasants, surprisingly, phylogenetic analysis indicated that peacock pheasants are not classified with pheasants at all, but are in fact more closely related to peafowl after all, interestingly, both peacock pheasants and peafowl are members of the subfamily Pavoninae within the family Gallidae.

Lovely birds. I found them in the catalogue of a specialist hatchery in Minnesota, USA. I've never seen them here before.
