Everyone in Canada here rooting for Lionel’s best possible race ! Would be amazing to see him take kona home !
Not just Canada, the whole triathlon world is rooting for him !
I appreciate your non click bait, down to earth content! Keep it up bro!
Agreed with everyone we all love Lionel and root for him but the podium is extremely difficult, but he will crawl to the finish line and that’s what we love about him.
Such a pity that Lionel might perform so well and still miss the podium. The level has raised so much that it seems now you need to be an alien to win. But you never know. Haug was out of the race at the beginning of the bike and LCB the day before leaving spots 1 and 2 open so… who knows! Everything can happen.
Blu, who was going to win in his last battle with Frodo, had a cramp in the middle of the run that put him second in the podium.
I somehow have my fingers crossed for a miracle and Lionel taking home the Kona win :) but yeah, it would require a miracle.
I love this narrative Lionel has created since it will make it exciting to follow his day even if he is not in contention for a podium. I mean, we watch pros to live out our dreams vicariously. I will say I personally dream of BOTH victory in the field and in the battle against myself.
Let's be honest with each other - we're all very much holding our breath, hoping that Lionel does as well as he thinks so that we don't lose his content. Too good = retirement. Too poor = retirement.
He is the best male Ironman TH-camr without question so will podium in that category but his best Ironman days are behind him.
Great analysis on Lionel for Kona!
From the Kona vlog, I think Lionel could be in his best shape ever. But in normal circumstances the podium is probably out of his reach.
Julie isn’t challenging Taylor… everyone is hyped after 1 race but like you said “she isn’t committed to middle distance” so why even speculate.
I’ve been super bummed on the men’s side post Olympics, they are already tied to so many world triathlon races and supertri, making it impossible to get over to the T100, which would be a blast to see Hayden and Leo perform in.
Said this early in the year but Hayden will win the 70.3 world championship. He would win any T100 too.
I think one more scenario or dream scenario can be, he makes the second pack, Magnus and he catch the first pack. then he, Sam Laidlow and Magnus attack the bike and take the run away from Gustav and Kristian. making them work harder definitely can change things, Sam, Lionel and Magnus know that Kristian and Gustav are kind of not beatable in a running race so they will be determined to push the bike. Like in 2017 Keinle, Wurf and Lionel did to Jan.
the level is sooooo high but i really hope he can get a dub or a podium. i mean swimming 1:10/100m is what top guys are doing, wind tunnel testing and pushing 300+ watts for sub 4 hour splits, and running sub 6 min miles for a marathon
FanDuel need to add triathlon lol!
Praying for Lionel to just go out with a bang and get first…he’s got the most grit out there.
He’s going 53 swim, sub 4 for the bike and will race the marathon for podium.
Awesome video and big fan of your channel! Keep up the great work!!
Top 5 or Top 8 will be a great achievement for him.
Martin is not unbeatable, the best guys are not there. Kristian and Gustav will be back. Gustav won more PTO than anyone else. Also think Kyle Smith will show up stronger.
Maple syrup? Bad idea. 1:30 to 2:00 run in hot weather? Bad idea. Coaching himself? Bad idea. Still 10 sec per 100m slower than he needs to be. Still rooting for him to do well.
Didnt he say that the heat training in Kona killed him last time and he is doing it again?🤐
lionel could come top 10 or 20... (meaning he could do good)
Unlikely
LS will be 10 minutes down off the bike
