    Our experience has always been, the difficulty in booking our needed mobility ADA cabin. The cabins are usually booked by people who do not need them because of they are larger. The cruise lines does nothing to stop this practice

    • @Travelingwithachair

      The cruise lines do everything they can to prevent that, but the key is to always book as far out as you can. Every cruise line that I know of, requires people to certify their need for the cabin. If someone books a cabin and it is needed they have the right to move them even on boarding day.

      Cruise lines can ask if you need a an ADA, but HIPPA laws prevent cruise lines prevent asking for any sort of proof. We have experienced this before. Both Royal Caribbean and Norwegian said there is nothing they can do. They have to take the persons word that they need the ADA cabin @@Travelingwithachair

    Room looks comfortable but the door to patio doesn't look wide enough to exit/enter balcony
    TY you've been very encouraging for me to try ❤❤

      We went out on the balcony with Cheryl's Whill Ci 2 power chair.

    This is a great room on board, as far as space to move around goes.
    One thing the main room is missing, is a space for parking/storing a wheelchair or walker.
    The lack of a rail on the left side of the toilet, is a safety and accessibility issue that RC should be required to address.
    I'm not a fan of wet room showers with just a shower curtain, as they don't fully keep the bathroom floor dry outside of the shower stall. I much prefer a hinged or sliding glass shower screen.
    I'm not a fan of where the mini fridge is located. Putting it down that low, makes it a falls risk, to access it. Having it at wheelchair seat height, would make it properly accessible.
    The balcony is a good size for manoeuvring, but the chairs look utterly inaccessible for transfers with the fixed armrests.
    Overall this is a good room for a disabled person with a helper/carer. But for a disabled solo traveller, it's not such a viable place.

    • @Travelingwithachair

      The bathroom floor does get wet to some degree, but the floor has a textured surface and it wasn't slippery. There is plenty of space to park two or three wheelchairs in the room.
      I am not saying the room is perfect, but we have been on 29 cruises in the last 2 1/2 years, and this is the second best room we have been in. The new Celebrity Ascent has automatic openers for the sliding glass doors, and that made it better.

    Thanks for sharing. There is another closet by the bed. How🤔 do they separate the beds⁉️

    • @Travelingwithachair

      The bed is made with two twin beds, so they put a table between them and twin bed linens, and you have separate beds.

    For a handicap accessible room, I think the bathroom is rather tight.
    Back in 2004 we were on the Queen Mary 2 and our bathroom/shower area was bigger

    I have booked a standard balcony room on the 14th floor and will be renting a travel scooter for my wife. Will we have any trouble getting the scooter in the room? We just purchased a wheelator 3n1 but I am hesitant to put it on the plane. We usually travel to all inclusive resorts and rent large heavy duty scooters. Thank you for any guidance.

    • @Travelingwithachair

      Probably not but it will depend on how wide the sooter is and the normal rooms are much tighter for space.,

  • @luminary01

    Wish they had more outlets near the bed. We need 1 for a BIPap machine and one for a humidifier attached to the bipap. Plus many that need these rooms need to charge their chair.

    • @Travelingwithachair

      We take a multi outlet extension. I use a CPAP and on this ship, the plug was on her side. For the chair, there was power under the mirror

    • @luminary01

      @@Travelingwithachair Thanks! They've been cracking down on those lately as the security/screening teams in the ports think any plug has a surge protector. I guess it varies by ship. Glad you got to use yours! What a pain.
