In my opinion the best anti war film ever made. A timeless work of art that should be required viewing in all the schools and universities. You owe it to yourself to see it. It will change you, and it will stay with you...

I´m a German (history) teacher myself and watched the movie twice in cinema. It´s too brutal for students! Even when they become 18 years of age. The original film language hits even harder.

@@w.ahhhhhh1138 I am from Europe. I had family members fight on both sides of WW I and WW II. Some got killed, some got wounded...physically and emotionally. None could function after the war. They turned to alcohol and violence. I never knew my real father, uncles, or grandfathers. They were there only in body. I can only imagine the horrors they saw and took part in. Yet, no one ever learns from this. Old men keeps sending young men to fight and die for them...

I cannot see anyone else portraying Kat but Albrecht. Such a perfect casting!

@@Holy_Lily really? Systemsprenger and all quite at the western front were the first movies I’ve seen him in. And he’s not really well known even in Germany.

I was lucky enough to see him live on stage in Berlin twice years ago, and he really is an incredibly talented actor - such a driving force yet so humble. I'm happy for him that he is finally getting this recognition on a larger scale!

I think the movie is fantastic, but I would love to know why the ending does not match the book. The title of the book points to the ending of the story making the story more meaningful, and heavy, full of tragedy. And Paul makes a decision (I think) for us to ponder and explore. We lose those two elements with this exciting movie.

It's been close to a hundred years so why not a new interpretation. In light of the WW2 AND the present conflict in Ukraine this story never seems to end. Fun fact: The MG42 is still being made in Germany. Who knew?

Looks like Frederick Zoller went into acting and not politics

Because his public speaking hasn´t improved all that much.
