Hello Humpty. I see you are experiencing the 2010's typical problems. I bought one also and found out. I have done a lot of research and work on that diesel tractor so here are some tips. The hydraulic filter will likely plug up soon; I made my own filter with a 2.5 inch pipe, sides cut out and wrapped with bug screen; this lets some dirt go through but keeps out the bigger more harmful debris out of the pump. John Deere painted the inside of the transmission and now the tiny paint flakes will continuously clog that very fine filter. YOU MUST USE glow plugs to start the tractor; this diesel is not like the others that can start without. You should pull the fuel pump and check the rubber retainer on the governor weight cage; it is likely damaged and causing surge problems. I have done work on almost every part of my 2010 and it works fine for me after I've got to know it's problems.
Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks mate! I’m waiting for the wind to die down so I can re-do the valve train still - I think I’m out 180 degrees having re-watched me get it wrong a few times.
Then I’ll have a crack at the glow plugs. And maybe it will start!
It’s still going to be a great tractor - just takes a bit of time.

Yes, but how did you get the stuck brake disks off in the first place? I see good thickness of the disks so I don't want to trash them by pounding screwdrivers down there, but they are stuck, stuck, stuck. Maybe I'll hole-saw a hole in the end for WD40 access.

In the end, destruction was the only option. And some heat (gentle) to get them wiggling. Then WD40 by the can. Wiggle wiggle etc. repeat. Got 2nd hand brake discs from a wrecker. Was not fun.

still workin' on it... flushed a can of wd40 down between the plates on the actuator in the hopes that it will cut the rust on the spline without soaking the driven-discs. I have made some 1/16 shims and will crowbar the actuator to spread the disks, then release and slide in shims between the actuator and the driven discs and repeat. Hope springs eternal!
