    It has to be said, but you are absolutely the best Resolve content creator on TH-cam! I like how you are just a normal guy and stayed true to yourself for all these years instead of becoming some TH-cam appropriate persona. Your channel is incredible. I’m trying to make the jump from Premiere to Davinci but I’ve been using Premiere for the last decade, tough to get fully comfortable with Davinci just yet. Maybe there are things about Davinci that are relatable to other editing software? Might make for a great video for folks like me who are looking to switch but are having trouble breaking the muscle memory. “In Premiere this thing here does this, but in Davinci all you have to do is this!” Something like that… I dunno. Thanks for all the amazing work!!

    Hey man... really helpful and on point Videos. Thx
    I reply to this video as its the latest. Just wanted to let you know that you can get rid of the slight phasing in the higher frequencies that happen once in a while on the voice track, by switching to linear pcm in the export settings.
    Its not very noticeable - especially when having music in the background. Not even sure if you have noticed yourself but coming from an audio background i can hear it via headphones.
    For example 0:05 - 0:08 if you listen closely there is some metallic phasing on the voice popping up.
    I have had this issue myself and simply switching from aac to linear pcm resolved the artefacts completely.
    So just wanted to provide something helpful back.

    Good video! 👌I would be insanely happy if finally Compound Clips would work in the power bins. So far I always have to drag a title into the timeline and then drag the matching sound file from the power bins into the timeline again. It's not that bad, but if you have a lot of titles in a video and you want to underlay them with sound files, it's time-consuming.

    I need this area to be like a file browser. For example, if I take a snapshot of a clip to make a thumbnail, it should be easy to open my thumbnail project, go to the power bin, and take the photo directly from there, rather than having to open Windows Explorer or Favorites in the Media tab. It seems that Blackmagic ignores such default ideas, as well as the idea of snapping clips in the viewer area.

  • @jer3006
    @jer3006 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Alex, very helpful! Question: You set up Power Bins as pointers to your hard drive Resources folders. But if you drag an element from your timeline into Power Bins via the Inspector File tab, where is it saved by Power Bins? In your example at 5:04, you dragged 2 timeline clips into Power Bins, then created a new folder in Power Bins named Effects and dragged the two clips into the new Effects Bin. Where is that Effects Bin/Folder saved? Did Resolve put it on your hard drive in your existing Resources folder? That is unlikely so I'm thinking Power Bins objects could be anywhere and everywhere.

    Surprised to hear you say you can't put fusion compositions in a power bin. I am a bit of a noob so I might be confused about something but whenever I make a VFX in fusion, I change the media in node to use the background instead of the timeline and then drag the clip into a power bin. I can then use that affect anywhere else I fancy by just dragging it above a clip.

I'd have to drag & drop the folder every time i want to cut something into davinci resolve as the newest files are missing. So you dragged a title onto the timeline, which is cool. but now try it with a video or audio file. what happens? it will create a duplicate in your regular bins (master folder). This sounds like a minor detail, but it kind of makes the whole idea of the power bin useless for many, as you have to re-organize it in your regular bins. in that case, you might as well just drag it from you OS level into the regular bins.
    So in those situations where you want quick access to footage, there is not really a big advantage of the power bins, it's actually extra work, if you want to stay organized. I don't like to say it but i think adobe has got it spot on with how they implemented "productions".

    the main question is - how to BLOCK adding media to power bins if you just drop media to timeline while you PowerBin was selected? cos its very uncomfortable if you get smth from PowerBin, and not reSelect tab to other menu, and while editing project you drop some things to timeline, and than you will find that in your powerBin is tonns of random media that you NOT add exactly to PowerBin tab. Is it the way to avoid it? For example smth, that will ADD media to power bin, ONLY if you add it exactly to power bin tab, not just drop to project

    I’ve been using Power Bins for a while but I’ve hit a problem since I created a projects database on an external SSD. I have two databases - one on the main drive of my MacBook and one on an external SSD. My power bins work just fine for the database on my hard drive but not for the one on the SSD. I can put an item in (I’ve tried it with adjustment clips and other things) but when I drag it out onto a timeline Resolve asks me to allow access to a file location and by default it shows the cache-clip location on my hard drive. I don’t know what drive or directory I’m supposed to select as whatever I choose I get a “file not found” error and the item from my power bin then disappears from my timeline. Anyone else had this? Is there a solution?

      You're good but they sit in a different menu. They're under 'view' at the very top to enable power bins.

      Oh! Thank you for letting me know! I appreciate the extra work that you didn't have to. Thanks! Cheers!

    The big question is why these programs use the word bin to describe an important stash of media that you don't want to lose or discard. :)
