Hi buddy, just about to install bags on the mounting system, quick question if you don’t mind, what is proper way to install bag on mount? I don’t want to break anything by forcing it. Do you have to move lever over then press down or just press down to lock in place. Thanks. Hope question makes sense to you.
Yeah, just hold it by the handle, hook on the bottom mounting point, then push down so that the other mounting points engage, then fold the handle down and it is locked in to place. 😎
Great video, thanks very much, I have a quick question if you don’t mind buddy? I’m just about to install mine, I’m not much of a do it yourself type so please bear with me if this seems like a dumb question,LoL. Was looking at the template for drilling holes on cover and instructions for doing the drilling, I find it a bit confusing, are both holes drilled to the same diameter? Appreciate you taking the time .
There are no stupid questions, it is always better to ask how to do something than how to fix something. If you look on the drilling guide template, there is a flat end and a rounded end. The flat end goes towards the front of the bike and the rounded end goes towards the rear of the bike. The hole at the flat end is a 22mm diameter hole, the hole at the rounded end is an 18mm diameter hole. (Check that your instructions look like this www.picbox.uk/shad/docs/K0VL65IF.pdf ) If you can, clamp the plastics down before drilling as they will want to move. Also, drill slowly so the plastic doesn't melt.
My Vulcan ass is in a solo configuration. It does not have the rear passenger pegs even installed or the brackets either by watching your video. I’m assuming that this is going to be a problem installing the three mounting bracket correct?
Unfortunately, the 3P System requires the rear peg brackets for fitting. You will either need to get the rear passenger kit before being able to fit the 3P System, or find a different luggage solution. 🤔
Hello, I have exactly the same vulcan. I will install the 3p system in order to put the shad 36. Thank you for this video but what impresses me the most is the cleanliness of the bike 😂 despite the fact that I wash mine often it is not as clean
Strange request but don’t suppose you know the overall width of the bar from pannier to pannier? Looking at getting these but don’t want something that sticks out past my handlebars. Thanks
The handle bars are about 87cm at the furthest width, the Shad 3P bars are about 45cm from outside edge to outside edge. I have the SH36 (36 litres) panniers and the width from outside edge (on left of bike) to outside edge (on right of bike) is about 103cm... so quite a bit wider than the handle bars.
Ok, long winded answer..... 1. the 3P System itself is fantastic, it is one of the better mounting systems that I've ever used. 2. Shad customer service gets a 0 out of 10 - they take no responsibility for issues. 3. If you get the rear mount for a top box, DO NOT get the chrome universal mounting plate, it's absolutely useless (hence customer service issue). 4. One of my Shad SH36 panniers has a sticky handle - it doesn't always pop up like it should when the button is pressed, but I can probably fix that with some WD40, and I haven't heard of anyone else with the same problem. (another customer service issue). 5. Their One Key system only works with certain pannier / top box combinations, so if that is something that you want, check first. 6. If you change the reflectors on the back of the panniers from white to red, be aware that it requires brute force to do the install and the clips are quite fragile and can easily snap. I like the Shad system, but if I was choosing again with the knowledge above, I would probably end up giving a lot more consideration to the Givi Luggage. I hope that helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask and I'll help as best I can.
@@TreesAndWheels thank you very much for the info I'm only starting out on bikes and wanted something to just get me by until I did get givi ones and as I live in Ireland I'm looking for waterproof ones and the Viking ones don't look very waterproof
The 'Bosco' name was a clue to your location... I'm currently picturing a red haired doll riding a Vulcan S 🤪 Mrs TreesAndWheels is from Birr, and we lived in Foxford (Mayo) and Portlaoise before coming back to the UK. If you are looking at getting Givi eventually but want something cheaper in the meantime, then I'd look at Kappa (Givi and Kappa are the same company, Kappa is the value range) as they use the same fittings, so when you want to upgrade you'd just be changing the cases rather than the entire fitting system. Hard luggage is mostly waterproof, but if you have contents that absolutely must stay dry then you should invest in some dry bags. Dry bags are always a good idea anyway.
No I didn't, because the video is about installing the 3P System that the panniers fit on to. The panniers are removable so attaching them isn't really part of the 'install'. I can do a video on attaching the panniers if you need. 🤷♂️😎

Very helpful, clear install video.
Glad it helped 😎
Perfect timing! my SHAD side cases just came in, and getting ready to do the install. Your video was extremely helpful!
Thanks. I'm glad the video was useful. If you have any questions during the install, just ask and I'll try to help.
Thanks for sharing. Good video. Do you know if these will work with the Kawasaki back rest? Thanks
I'm not sure, sorry. But i would have thought they would.

Well, it spent more time in the garage doing these videos than out on the road, so it was easy to keep clean 😂
Wonderful motorcycle, i love it!
I love mine too, although I'm getting a bit bored doing stuff in the garage... I want to be out on the road!

SW Motech are about the same as the handle bar widt
How high would you rate the shad 3p ? I'm thinking of getting them for my Vulcan 650

If you want something good looking and quality, buy the SW Motech system.
Great vid. Still think it's abit shoddy by kawasaki not having pre drilled holes. They could've just capped them.
Absolutely... but then it might not look quite so nice without the sissy bar or pannier mounts?
I find when you have exposed drill holes you can get plastic caps to put in. Looks factory.wheres the lock tight torc spec???
Or 3D Print your own if you have a 3D printer.
