I have a 3.4 litre hilux here in Australia and I can tell you getting the filter out through there is a tight squeeze and the oil in the filter still gets emptied all over the crossmember in the process making a huge mess!!
There is.... Loosen the oil filter a bit so it can be hand turned out, then slip a large plastic bag over it (something like a food storage bag that is thick and a bit rigid) then spin the filter with the bag so it falls into the bag along with all the dripping oil.
@partyman6666 I've been doing oil changes on my 1st gen Tacoma for years. It's angled so as as soon as you break the o ring seal it will leak all over.

I found pulling the motor was the easiest way
Why not remove the wheel and the mud skirt first ? Way more room !
