Love these coaching session videos. They are by far the most valuable resource on youtube for tekken 8 right now. I appreciate your work Phi and please continue making these!
Love the videos! also what i learn from combos is always do the last part of a combo first :) Then once you know your ender start doing starter into follow up and pratice that. Then do the full combo with this you not only learn that combo, but can set up follow- ups. For lilly it can be as easy as Df2, f2,3 ff3 f into stance and 3. From here you can set up so much like Rage art heath into into heat dash extender or just end the combo :). Also alot of moves in tekken 8 can be hold like lillys FF3 into F can be hold from the 2ed F and she will still go into stance :)
I personally prefer the slightly longer guides, they're the kind of thing you can watch, take one or two things away from then come back and take away more that you didnt on the first viewing.

Key takeaways i've got from this crazy session is to take a combo, dissect it in halfs, do one half 10x with no mess ups, then second half 10x no mess ups, and then finally do it all at once? Also do punishment training, at least start off with a 1,1 and a launch punisher.
i love these videos man! I'm new to tekken and main lili and have the timing and fundamentals down pretty well but i struggle with combos so this really helps! I'm practicing side by side with this video :)
Something to keep in mind is that you can't buffer moves that have a stance attached to them. I. E. If you're trying to deathfist on Paul, you need to wait for your ending recovery of whatever your last move was. This is REALLY important for Mishimas since the double electric at the beginning of a lot of combos requires you to wait for the end of the first electric. Obviously, she's not playing a character where that is super important, but it is worth keeping in mind if she learns other characters.
I genuinely wanna see Phi coach AfroSenju though. Idk but they seem to have this same energy and Afro has been improving so much on his own it'd be cool to see him grow even more with a coach

@mstrikerwildrift a new player will find the concept of fundamentals too abstract to begin with, contrary to the definition of 'fundamental'. Have some fun successes then it's more rewarding to grind the brain numbing fundamentals. What's the point in knowing to how launch punish if you can't follow up with a combo?
@@Wakasan626 whats the point of knowing how to combo when you can't even land a hit or know when to press buttons? Lily seemed like the best kind of beginner to coach ngl. Enthusiastic, enjoys the process and motivated to do better. Half my enjoyment of the Sajam tournie came from watching Lily progress through the learning curve. Its unfortunate her opponents were using (mostly) notoriously dishonest characters and were taught their scrub-killer moves. Not to discresit them, they played very well ofc, but its a lot for a beginner to tackle their nerves and piloting own character alongside fighting characters that seemingly have endless turns, unblockable throws and/or bear hands. Phi for punishment I suggest giving 3 punishments to beginners. The 10f and the next one would probably the one that can reach further. I think either a 12/11. The problem with doing just 10f punisher for everything is sometimes even if it is -11/12/13/14, it wouldn't reach the enemy. That's what I have observed so far. That's why when using Mishima 1,1,2 isn't always so reliable because of pushback. Of course the other punisher will be the -15 launcher.

Thats kinda the thing tho, (at least from what I've gathered from hearing about it on podcasts/streams) sykunno's whole thing is grinding super last minute and getting really good really fast. He doesnt really grind in a way that would be good for something like evo
Idk what happened, but cnt, cbt felt so much better… i wonder if they nerfed Lili but i’m sure 1,1 was too op… but now i only use as a punisher move, also i don’t feel safe sidestepping anymore since the game tracking so aggressively ,even if i sidestepped the first move… i always get hit be the second string of the move… overall it’s just my toughts but Lili barely fits in the game’s aggressive mechanic since Lili is slow, her sidestepp worths less bc of the intensive tracking, she has really poor heat smash ppl casually sidewalk or just crouches under it. I see lots of high leveled Lili mains struggeling in the game, while i see lots of players who doesn’t have strong foundemantal knowledge but still wins effortlessly.
I think most of these things are untrue. She can cheat situations like Reina's stances and Lars's stances with her sidestep. Low heat smash from BT. Everyone is struggling with the game. It's a new Tekken completely different from 7
@@PhiDX her low heat smash comes from bt so ppl already prepared it. I know it’s not tekken 7 i only said that for example they added dragunov, Nina better tools to fit better to the game.
Are "manuals" something that can be done in this game? My best example would be Killer Instinct. A high level Spinal main was able to do Manual, unbreakable combos. I use a lot of combos that break off into more, unscaled hits that seem hard to avoid. It's the only thing in this game that I haven't seen a video about. Another example is a target cambo from a game like SF.
Thanks Phi for the combo tutorial on Lili it really helped! I have a question for you guys, is there any other combo ender i should use when closer to the wall? It seems like DEW 1,4 misses a lot when near the wall. Maybe in a futute video we can get the wall conversion? Keep up the good work peace!

@@KobunLaunchremember he plays against scrubs, you are talking EVO for a beginner
I am feasting as a Lili main lol
I am a beginner, i love your videos and how friendly you are!
Lily asking Phi after talking about the combo steps : you do this?! Like in game?
Lma
You guys actually have good chemistry, it was enjoyable.
What if Lily gets serious and brings Tekken to a bigger audience?
She plays piano....of course her hand will remember
Music has made this far easier lol if i can memorize moonlights sonata i got this😂
are any of these streamers who are learning T8, representing Lee? i wanna know who is based
Are "manuals" something that can be done in this game? My best example would be Killer Instinct. A high level Spinal main was able to do Manual, unbreakable combos. I use a lot of combos that break off into more, unscaled hits that seem hard to avoid. It's the only thing in this game that I haven't seen a video about. Another example is a target cambo from a game like SF.

Hey @phi what’s the giant steps of tekken combos
"B2,1f ok b2,1f ok ok got it" *does snake edge* 👁️👄👁️. 😂😂😂😂Nah but fr good stuff Phi 👌🏿👌🏿
lilly's real voice
Damn…. Might need your coaching lol
Yeah DEW 1,2 is an easy adjustment for when the wall pops up unexpectedly!
If you're more comfortable with adjusting for the wall, try WS 1,2~F (DEW) 3 or uf+4,3
Just tried those and they work nicely, thank you! 🙏🙏
