Gotta feel nice getting past this repotting! Tree looks great. Hope both trunks survive, and hope the shed cleanup went well.. Was cool to see the birds up around their nesting box as well. Thanks for sharing.
Aussie Dave here Sam, nice work. 1of my mate at work last year 2023 tested me by giving me his apple seeds from the apple he was eating for lunch. Out of 6 seeds 4 spouted 😂. So last week I cut them back and I'll see what they do in spring 😮
I use basically the same mix. There’s a few other Bonsai people in the area , so getting the Kitty litter can be hard. Awesome to see you getting back into the Bonsai and videos.
That is going to look amazing! Fingers crossed the entire thing survives! And also that you don't completely lose your shit while cleaning. Look at all those cute puppy dogies!!😍
Lovely healthy roots n buds on the apple, well done. Very emotional to see your dear dogs 🥹 So happy you’re making plans for more filming, good news for all of us!! God bless you and your endeavours 🙏✝️. ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️. 🙋♀️🤍🇮🇱✌️
This one has the makings of another exciting tree. As for cutting it all off, my thought is to wait until it starts to grow; this will allow the hormones in the branch tips to send the "Grow more roots" message down below ground. Also, leaving leaf mass over where you want the roots, will power them to grow. So long as the tree is sheltered from wind, sun and frost, I suspect it has a good chance of survival. (I have to add that I am a nurse, not a botanist!!)
i remember this one..... fuk yeah.........good to see ya back in it ..., me old mate......thank you, Champion.....it's just...bloody tops...yeah, nah ...thanks again,.....fair dinkum, dead set LEGEND........fukken grouse, i mean that........yeah, get it in ya, I reckon............yeah, nah
Really hope the big trunk survives, it'd look so awesome now that there's only the interesting part of the trunk left after the separation. Btw Sam, how's your tree planting project going on your property? Always loved seeing the progress there
Excellent work Sam. Did you use the same technique on your E. camaldulensis that has featured on this channel? I was wondering how you achieved the multi trunk form.
From memory I believe that was a collected tree that had been run over many times with a mower. It's likely three sprouts off a big lignotuber that formed trunks, I don't know of anyone having success airlayering gum trees. Regardless that's one of my favorite trees and I'm looking forward to the update on that one when the time comes.
Zeolite is great but it pulls a lot of nutrients out of the soil as it degrades so that might be good for natives who deal well with poor soils and have a thinner cambial layer but keep in mind for other trees you might have to go a little extra on the fertiliser front in the long term. Otherwise it's great stuff
Hey Sam, long time follower, first time commenting from my new channel :) I'm making my first video now, and I'd like to shout out the soil mix in this video, is it okay if I use about 30 seconds of footage from this (with full credit of course)?
Any day with a new bonsai bloke video is a good day
Ditto 🤩
Who new that a cement mixer was a versatile bonsai tool. Not only can you style olive trees with them but also great for mixing soil. Brilliant sam.😂

Congrats on the mega airlayer. Nice one mate.
Great work, Sam. Hope both trunks survive for you
Sweet! Great video Sam! Thanks for sharing. Makes me feel better about trying my own air layers.
Now that was a great air layering of this massive trunk. Massive amount of roots that grew. Really cool.
Love your work, ABB!

Another great video Sam. Hope the whole tree survives, it's got some cool style about it. Cheers .
Just latched on to the new videos Sam great... stop eating all the Tim Tams 😂
I hope the big trunk survives. It will make for an awesome twin trunk. ❤ If it doesn’t, the small trunk will still be an amazing tree.
That mix is ingenious. You have sold me on it. 👍🇦🇺🦘
I remember when you did that pot. Haven’t seen it in ages!

Missed ya

Nifty way of making your bonsai soil in the mixer.
YOU BLOODY RIPPA, on the air layering too, mate

I saw the cement mixer in the thumb nail and thought you were working on your other tree that you threw in the mixer that time 😂
Cheers Bloke

I wondered if a whole tree was for the mixer again before watching.
Really hope the big trunk survives, it'd look so awesome now that there's only the interesting part of the trunk left after the separation.

Update on the tree planting soon

@@cameronmiller4414 Thanks for the insight. One of my favourites too.
would rooting hormones help or not really through winter not doing much anyway

Hey Mate, did you have an issue with gnats in the soil from the bag? tons of reviews on Bunnings about this and brand others being infested
