It’s good that they’re thinking about this sort of stuff, I just want them to do it more and on a larger scale and not think the job is down. It’s an improvement but not fixed/good

i pray to god that this makes the ai not just crapstack 50 billion armies all over the place, so annoying to deal with

I was having fun. I already had a mod that fixed it now its broken. Here's hoping the changes are actually good in practice.

These will HELP, but not fix the ai. I couldn't agree more with the sentiment that the ai is far too passive

I am skeptical about this. I already use Hecleas AI mod to help how the AI manages his buildings etc. so this update doesn't benefits me.
My main issues before were how the AI siege even small settlements and don't attack or wait to starve out big settlements.
I have tried again today and they still do that so I will keep using Hecleas AI overhaul till they fix AI correctly.

"Oh yeah, since we can't improve the AI itself, let's go back to supercharging cheats instead." and finally fixing what AI recruits. It's just more of the same. Bug fixing and shuffling numbers on databases. Not even going to start the game for this.

Literally every strategy game that has ever existed had cheats on the highest difficulties.

@@Nere94 its my biggest gripe with strategy games personally. I want the ai to be smarter with macro and empire building not more cheaty

The problem with ai is that they have all the data available and can make sure you never catch their armies out. And also calculate how to place 4 armies out of sight, but close enough to annihilate your best armies when you try to move it. And also have the ability to take your settlements when you are out of position without any way for you to counter. A smart AI would absolutely trash everyone. No one wants a play experience like that. It's just frustrating. If you think I'm full of it look up the articles of machine learning models more than 5 years ago that destroyed the world's best League of Legends player in LoL. Having them add cheats is a poor solution, I agree. But the option of smarter ai isn't fun either. They could easily focus entirely on building massive alliances and wipe you out on turn 10 if CA allowed it.
Hell all the way back in 2002 Funcom made an AI for their mmorpg which would retreat from the player, then go through the zone and social aggro everything and bring it back to the player. One tester was destroyed repeatedly by 80+ monsters every time they attacked one of them. Looked hilarious, and was not very fun to play.

@@Khayne my counter point to all that text is that it's not fun to play versus a cheater. You can make an ai smart enough to be a threat without cheating and also not be "too smart" you can also have more than one level of ai in a game. One way to limit how much data an ai can see is to do what alien isolation did and have another ai coach it to make decisions. If only they could get those devs to help them. Oh wait it was CA who made that one darn
