I think it's tragic to live in servitude, author feels otherwise. it reminds me of gladiator in a way, the master being the emperor watching on from the stands as the assassin finishes of the already crippled "enemy", "child", or "prisoner." I guess in the movie it was the master himself. It seems fated, orchestrated right from the start. It's a grim reality of the world and makes winners of no one. you all seem pleasant and have likely digested this reality long ago and from a different perspective.
