what a beautiful little film. you captured it all!!!! the horses, the people, the harness, the sounds, the foals, EVERYTHING. I live in ontario canada....i could only dream of coming to see this amazing show of horses & their people! lovely!!!!
With all the excitement and crowds, etc, it's amazing everything is so calm and orderly, a tribute to the breed AND to the owner's expertise and knowledge. All the horses look well-fed and healthy, GORGEOUS and Beautiful! Excellent coverage of the fair... When I get to heaven, hopin' a Gypsy Cob and my Appy POA will be waiting in the fields for me! Thanks for a great video...
Thankyou your comment means a lot, Appleby Horse Fair is by no means perfect in anyway but it is a spectacle, I like filming / recording such events & I have l even learnt where a horse's tail is. ;-) The people that criticise on TH-cam have most likely never been, they read the bad press and want the fair to end etc.. A positive comment about my film is unbelievable...!
Thanks Geordie its not my filming but the editing thats getting much better. At Appleby you just have to get stuck in 'shy bairns get nowt!' I received a tickle from a whip along the flash, but that didn't put me off....
Different culutres have different ways of handling and managing horses. My feelings are each to their own as long as they do the animals no harm. Sadly this is not always the case no matter which culture you are from. However, the gypsy or Romany community do breed some stunningly beautiful animals.
Cant wait fof june 2015, and appleby horse fair,,who will the lucky lady be who comes with me in my caravan,,,as the song goes,,,shes away with the raggle taggle gypsy ,o,
With all the things I've seen go in show rings I have to say there truly isn't much going on here that I'd consider "mishandling". These horses are clearly fed, healthy in the coat and hoof, and not a baring rein in the place.
Pleased that you enjoyed the video, I have another video to upload tomorrow that has 91 vanners & trotters on a drive, plus scores of other horses in it check it out!
I'm not sure if i agree with some of the handling methods with these horse but i guess it's a different culture to my own...on another note the gypsy cobs are beutiful 4:10
Your film is a great character study of the Fair, I congratulate your ability to capture the nature and lifestyle of the people you are filming. Do you watch Bergman films? I enjoyed the film even if it is not the "good time press" about this horse or it's owners, it's a study of the life there with nothing glorified. Keep up the work, you are a director at heart. :) I'm going to look at the others now! See, you made me want to see more.
I apologize if I've offended you fairytale555, that was not my intention. Just trying to understand a different equestrian culture. My mare is actually a Canadian X Thoroughbred and very spirited. But I find Gypsy vanners/cobs absolutely gorgeous. I just though that some of the handlers looked a little hard on some of the animals and my mare would have become agressive.

Can't imagine their poor legs trotting on that concrete...
Are they showing off their horses? Or aren’t selling and buying too?
They are flashing their horses and some will be for sale too, but not all horses!
HI!I'm in love with horses gypsys, I wonder what city this is and if it would be possible to export it to Brazil. Thanks and loved the video.
My dream is to buy a horse and ride it
Don't think about it Do it,,
Theres more to a horse than just riding....

Guinevere2000 cobs are amazing horses who put up with almost anything and still behave amazingly. At least all the ones I’ve seen
