I love him and he's my idol. I like how he trained and raced super intensely but also partied hard. Just don't drink and drive, kids. It's that's simply. Enjoy beer drinking, and enjoy mileage even more.
I ran track and cross country in the 1970s and Pre and Jim Ryan were my heroes. I was at WSU and friends with the Kenyan John Ngeno who was a NCAA 6 mile champion. Pre’s last x country race in Pullman was on our WSU golf course. John Ngeno who later was a 7 time national champ was burned out by pre in his last race. I witnessed John trying to keep up with Pre up a steep hill in the race and John ultimately had to start walking and Pre kept going. Never saw anything like it before in my life. Here was a future national champion …John Ngeno and pre-burned him out. 😳. I remember hearing when Pre died in the car accident. Such a sad loss of a life and potential. He would’ve done great things and won several gold medals I believe.

He’s still inspiring people almost 50 years after his death. I became a runner because of him and iam still running in my 60s. Thanks Pre!! 🏃🏽

Definitely a tear jerker. The enigma that was Pre still lives and inspires and always will.

It’s not an oral history, it’s a verbal history. Oral is a medical word describing inside the mouth. Verbal is words coming out the mouth 👄
