The control and movement in this piece are literally breathtaking. The most stunning use of dance and shape I have ever seen.
Her movements were so fluid. Weather on the pole or on the floor it seem like she was constantly spinning. There was never any awkwardness or jerkiness that you see with some performers changing from position to position. Just beautiful.
That was very nice... People dont realize what it takes to do this.. Its a talent.. Its like art..
The poles turn to help give them extra spin..
That's what separates the best, those who can do this in a way that makes it look easy
@@docarrasquillo8075 only the pole on the left spins. The one on the right is a static pole. Not to take away from her performance. Both are difficult and painful to learn, and takes a gifted person to master and have unique style.
That was so incredibly beautiful! No wonder she won Silver! She's AMAZING. This sport is SO underrated and often UNFAIRLY frowned upon as just some "sexual strip tease show" all because it involves a pole! These Women are AMAZING and deserve better recognition as professional performers who are immensely talented.

@@sicksamuel5110 it's not often seen as a sport because people think pole dancers are just strippers. Well that's wrong and this channel is trying to show that these are actual competitions.
Think of it like rythmic Gymnasts who use props ( ribbons,balls, hula hoops) or regular Gymnists who compete on stationed apparatus (like the uneven bars, the beam, vault etc.)
Then you have to factor in their amazing contortion ability which that in itself is incredible.
Watch some Cirque du Soleil on TH-cam and you'll see all kinds of performers using the coolest things to do their acts 🙂
@faultroy I think you completely misunderstood what I was saying since I personally wasn't referring to the pole competition as a "strip tease show" but rather what others commonly view it as including a "sexual performance" when it's not that.
Not everyone feels that way of course but it's enough that this legitimate sport doesn't get the same attention as say a gymnastics routine would because I agree. These women are very skilled gymnists, contortionists, performers and much more.
I'm just thankful for TH-cam because this channel can exist to shine a light on yet another sport that isn't well known. Not just the sport though, but the women themselves who are extremely talented 🙂

To even rename the sport without the use of the word pole wouldn't help either as the pole is their "gymnastic apparatus" so to speak.
So it's great that you don't find anything sexual about it and see it as just a sport since I feel the same way but sadly others don't because of where pole dancing originated from.
That's the point I was making and why it's unfortunate that this really cool sport and these women very often don't get the recognition they deserve as very talented athletes. Not to mention, insanely incredible contortionists.
I've also seen some men do these amazing contortions using a pole as well. I have no idea if they have a men's sport for this but if they do, I'd watch.
I'm a long time fan of Cirque du Soleil so I've seen all sorts of things no matter the gender 🙂

So beautiful and artistic. The control.... Unbelievable. I can't believe how amazing these women (and men) are. They make it look effortless. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go trip over a table. Lol
I have always been struck by the idea some people have that pole dancing is sexist and exploitative of women. As you can see from this and from other videos here on YT, the vast majority of this activity's fans are women. They cheer loudly because they love it. Indeed, pole dancing is well deserving of the admiration it gets.
As for the merits of this particular video, there are many: great dance, great coordination between the music and fluid performance, and the dancer is strikingly beautiful.

This made me cry, so beautiful and free. I love her style and how her form takes on so many different shapes that seem controlled & out of control, all at the same time. That's a really hard thing to do. Such a fresh and contemporary take on pole dancing. Amazing and distinctive, this is art. No medal can define this.
I deeply appreciate being entertained by astonishing unbelievable body movements. I performed on the pole in a few clubs back in the day when the pole first hit the scene. The weight of the body between the wrist & the elbow was a pain nothing could soothe. These girls get all my respect & admiration. I remain in awe ♡
She is a beautiful fluid dancer like she is one with the pole. Her transitions were so smooth and effortless.

How did that land silver? That performance should have landed champion! There was no hesitation in some of those most difficult moves! None the less, that was amazing! :3
The girl who got first and her both tied for first place originally, so they had to do a tie breaker. Judge 3 marked her as 4th place as judge 1 and 2 marked her as 1st. Then the girl who got placed 1st, all three judges marked her as 2nd so she got bumped up to 1st. If any of that makes sense.

Dudes they were applauding the leg spread because it’s very difficult to do gracefully and to that level, especially while keeping it smooth and controlled. The leg strength and core strength needed to pull it off is fucking crazy. They’re not applauding her because she’s “just spreading her legs”
@@mja5543 yes! the people applauding and yelling are her fellow pole dancers. they're applauding her b/c they know the strength it takes to do this kinda stuff. they appreciate the art. most pole dancers say the applauding is encouraging. it lets them know they have the respect of their peers.
@@star_kitten110 true, but screaming during the piece also ruins your performance to quite a great extent, at least if you perform for artistic reasons and not only sport ones xD Cause you wanna create a certain atmosphere, transmit emotions, and then you have a bunch of people screaming, which both kills the mood and means they mostly look at the sport side... But yes, that's a competition so I get it, I just don't think it is necessarily for everyone =)

I think these women are amazingly talented athletes. I don't know if everything should be called a sport though. We throw the word around so generally nowadays. I feel a sport should have three components:
1. Athletic component (coordination, stamina, strength, speed, etc.)
2. Objective scoring system (no "I just like that one better.")
3. The ability to directly affect your opponent through playing defense (Goodbye, golf!)
Everything else should be considered a game or an athletic competition. Before anyone starts with the criticisms, yes, this is just my opinion. Yes, I have looked up the Merriam Webster dictionary definition of sport and do not agree with the broadness of the term. No, I am not minimizing any athletic ability or talent that is excluded by this definition.

TJ I would argue anything that fits your definition is called a game, esp your #3 is unnecessarily myopic as it eliminates any sport that’s not 1v1. Are these not sports: swimming, surfing, high dive, running, gymnastics, high/long jump, javelin and disc throwing, archery, skiing/snowboarding, or most of the other Olympic sports? Or is this just about pole sport?
@@songbanana8 First of all, my third point does not eliminate all sports that are not 1v1. Football, basketball, baseball, hockey, futbol, volleyball, etc. all fit the definition I have laid forth.
Secondly, I have no agenda against the pole competition. I personally laud the people who compete. They are extremely athletic! None of the athletic competitions that you listed meet my definition either.
Third, the primary reason for my third rule is to eliminate the competitions you could have without your opponent even being present.

Nice however lots of short breaks in fluidity especially in the opening first 60 second new. A bit too much open crotch time, clean it up a bit and you may get first place.
It just goes to show how incredibly ignorant most people can be. Just because it involves a pole people think their strippers. If they think this is bad, they should see how many young children do this as a professional sport. Or watch the Cirque Du Solei performance Amaluna.

I agree. As a performer, I would prefer the audience stay quiet until I'm done. I find it distracting while performing, not just while watching the videos later. However, PSO encourages cheering in the middle of the performance, so the audience does.
