    Kreisler’s art transcends the old, crackly, static filled background noise....the voice of his violin is so true, so beautiful, that it sings right through it all! Absolutely marvelous!!

      If anything, the surface noise (that's what it is, not static) adds to the atmosphere for me.

    I completely agree with you. I'm a violinist, as was my father; and he idolized Fritz Kreisler, having a special memory of when he heard him play at the Academy of Music in the 1940s. We heard lots of Fritz Kreisler in our home when I was growing up. Such warmth and love emanating from every note, every phrase.

    The strings of his violin speak like a voice. Such exquisite expression and musical feeling come from this man whose pure and noble tone caresses you with the warmth of his heart.

    Kreisler was the king of charm and elegance ....other violonist where or are incredible, amazing or simply genius but no one can approach the kreisler's unique style !!

    Today I heard Pablo de Sarasate playing his own Zigeunerweisen, op. 20, no.1 at St. James's Hall, along with my friends Holmes and Watson. What strikes me is the elegance, lightness, and style, in short, sprezzatura, a valued quality in the courtly society of Renaissance Italy, that both de Sarasate and Kreisler bring to their violin playing, a quality that is hard to find in today's great virtuosi. Well, I must return to the present and put my time machine in storage until further forays into a glorious musical past!

    I heard Kreisler play in 1947 at Orchestra Hall Chicago when I was a 7 year old violin student, and actually got to go backstage with my father and meet him. You could do that back then, but not today with all the security issues. That experience defined my goal of becoming a professional violinist.

      What a life altering experience that must have been. As a flutist, I had the joy and terror of playing for Marcel Moyse, the first flutist to bring modern technique to the old school world. My then flute teacher was Claude Monteux, son of Pierre Monteux. I'll never forget those great opportunities that forever changed my career trajectory. Bravo for you.

    What is extraordinary is the sweet, loving, directness of this. In my youth, when I occaisionally heard his records on the radio, I used to think that it all had a bit too much schmaltz. But listening now I hear an glimpse of a now-vanished world, where there was time to sit and enjoy a coffee, cake and some gossip. Thank you for sharing.

    Fritz Kreisler. Wat een fenomenale violist. Zoveel gevoel, schoonheid, tederheid. Tientallen jaren luister ik al naar zijn prachtige vioolspel, en ik blijf erbij: hij is de beste violist die ik ken.

    • @AugustinHadelichViolin
      @AugustinHadelichViolin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, Kreisler's published arrangement is a bit longer. Most likely he made a cut for this recording due to the total playing time of the record.

  • @G6JPG
    @G6JPG 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Anyone know what date this recording is? Although it contains nothing above 5 kHz (so can be mp3-d at 11025 mono without losing anything!), what is there is very clear.

    It never ceases to astonish me how people can't see what a phony Fritz Kriesler was!! Viva Jacques Thibaud violinist similar bien

    • @andrewkennaugh1065
      @andrewkennaugh1065 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He had great charisma,as did Rachmaninov.
      Paderewski also had that indefinable quality(charisma)...a great pianist went to hear Paderewski play and returned from the concert shaking his head and saying,"He plays very well but he's no Paderewski!"
      We don't have any musicians of that ilk anymore,largely, though not entirely,due to competitions.
      They also composed...
      The closest we have to those personalities is possibly Perlman and I'm sure he recognizes the debt he owes to the likes of Kreisler.😊😊

    • @MrFpam
      @MrFpam 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Kreisler was anything but a phony; indeed he was the most genuine and heartfelt of all violinists. Thibaud was a fine violinist but the comparison is not useful.

      I know too little (nothing, I think - I don't think I've ever tried) about violin playing to comment on his skill as a _player_ - other than to say he sounds pleasant enough to me; however, I'm very grateful for his work as a _composer_ , especially that he proved classical music pieces can be short.
