he is actually my great grandpa! i unfortunately didn’t get the chance to meet him before he died, but i feel so lucky that he is my great grandfather !
Nice! I've heard that his son (probably your grandpa) did almost the same but he didn't steal horses, just elephants, so he didn't get the warlord title?
Your grandfather was a great man. I grew up in Buffalo, WY at the foot of the Crow’s Home: The Bighorn Mountains. Prayers to your family, a family full of great men and warriors. 🙏
A man among men. I can only begin to imagine the prejedicious, racism, and abuse this very honorable man was subjected to! Yet, he had the integrity, courage, and conviction to do the right thing to save his fellow soldiers even though his country treated him and his people very poorly. I am astounded and amazed by the stories of these men who rose above the hate projected at them and did the honorable thing although it meant possible death. I salute you sir and I wish I could show you the respect I have for you! Semper fi, JR, CWO, USMC (Retired)

My grandpa fought as a corporal in the 103rd infantry division in the battle of the buldge every single man in his battalion was killed and he was the only one left.

Its my understandinng that hollywood would fund a story for screen like this Id watch it and his story in persuing his war chirf status is amazing The technology available now means that it can be done using AI
From earlier stories he said he asked his CO if he could steal the horses to keep them from getting killed. The germans were the enemy not the horses so him stealing them saved some of their lifes.
this man and his story just proves he was a gangster in WWII. the requirements, how he did it, and to walk out of it with not only his life but a chance to speak for his people that. my friends is a gangster in history. may his soul ride as many horses as his heart desires in the afterlife

I absolutely love this man. He is a legend among legends.
Can I just say, he's so cute. 🥺❤️
You can tell that he loves life and is fun to be around. I’ve heard others talk about meeting him and saying that he was incredibly humble and kind.
Something about his voice screams comfort... Idk if that makes sense.
Hearing him laugh about the dead soldiers is heartwarming
old indigenous men are the most comforting people to be around... miss my great grandfather

The last war chief!
Among the legendary men of our time, this Dr. Joe Medicine Crow is among them!
Actually he's also a French knight as well as a war chief so technically it's Dr. Sir. War Chief Joseph Medicine Crow.
Hero...Semper Fidelis
What a man
But he wasn't a civilian? He was a combat vet and a damn warchief? He deserved more than that.
Amazing!😊

a gangster could never do what he did
And before he did this, he had already been the first of the Crow nation to earn a master’s degree.
