    1) Disputes with fences fall into a grey area and it was something the neighbor easily could've taken care of as much Gemma could've. 2) the neighbor was apathetic to how volatile her dog was.

      Just watched the movie yesterday (01-17-23), and I agree with you. I felt like Gemma should have been more specific in her wording to M3GAN. But like Korey said in the end she got the rude awakening that she needed.

      It was never Megan's fault & it only made her programming worse when the neighbors dog attacked her & shorted her out.

    • @catspaw3092
      @catspaw3092 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yep, Megan was completely innocent as Gemma's coworkers pointed out that she didn't put a protocol on Megan Gemma just let Megan have free reign & neglected her niece. I was sorry Mega had to be taken out she had fire, sass, attitude, smart her programmer was made worse when the dog attacked her. I really loved that whenever Gemma turned Megan off Megan would slowly turn her head & gave her a piercing look like "b!tch, oh no you didn't!"

    The plot point of childhood drama and loss had more depth than I expected, and the social commentary on violence and human addiction to technology were excellent. By the way, the performances were golden. Violet McGraw killed it, Ronny Chieng did a great job, and Allison Williams did a fantastic job. Williams knows how to pick some excellent scripts. I thought she might get typecasted after Get Out, but she's doing great work in every film she's in. If there's a sequel, it'll be a M3gan IoT horror show because one of the last scenes has that Alexa device turn on and begin staring at Gemma and Cady.

I made plans to go see and followed through. I honestly enjoyed this movie, I love horror films that develops characters as well as the stories and killers. Like make them evil for a reason and not just saying born evil or demonic at all. The only takeaway I had was the ending, it honestly felt short but besides that I enjoyed Megan for what it was. Didn’t see this as being a horror-comedy. Saw it as being more of a tech-thriller, and a damn good one. Also, the purpose of that dance was for M3GAN to distract someone while she got her hands on a weapon. Once she had it in hand, the dancing stopped and that guy ran like hell. No, he didn’t get far. I think if you watch the movie again, and you're looking for it, you will notice how the executive behaves, thereby making him enemy number one. Why is he number one? Because he's directly involved in trying to snuff out the M3GAN project, and wants Jemma doing furbies instead. M3GAN knows this, and that's specifically why she does the dance for him, because she's rubbing it in, that he will be an especially special kill for her. I don't think they threw that in just for gimmick at all, because it was given for that guy specifically. If she had done it only for the boy, you might be right, but they saved it for the exec.

  • @theiammike123
    @theiammike123 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I just came from watching M3GAN. It strikes a good balance of horror-comedy and social commentary about overreliance on technology as parental crutch and marketing strategies revolving around kids toys.
    And I believe they had to switch to PG-13 as if James Wan realized that kids can also learn something from this movie, while retaining the brutally goofy violence.
    And I also believe that they are saving their crazier stuff on a potential sequel which was hinted near the end. Whether it's going to be PG-13 or R, I am equally all for it either way. 😁👍👍

  • @offworlder1

    The point is Gemma chose to be a career woman over adapting to being a parent showing that the problem began with her. She wanted to pawn her niece off on new tech instead of trying to be a good woman who puts family first.
    Men who fail at valuing their family are also to be shamed since no one should be ignoring or neglecting family because they feel work is more important.

    Saw this movie a week afte, Korey is right in that M3GAN is not only what the Child's Play remake should have been but it took over as this generations Childs Play hype. It is campy, over the top, exaggerated characters but has some really smart moments like the reliance on tech and the scene where Gemma keeps turning off the doll but Cady wants her to keep her on. It fits being a genre crowd pleaser and doesn't go beyond that. Nice Evil Dead 2 reference in here.

    Julian’s first matinee!
    Finally saw the movie today, I was so busy working all weekend and didn’t find flexible showtimes
    Director Gerard Johnstone introduces a lot of themes here of motherhood, parenthood, the addiction to modern technology, the psychological effects of children being more inclined to others, and the toys being surrogates to actual parents
    There are always forces out there that pull us apart, children shouldn't depend entirely on technology or else they lose their human connection, is it a guardians job to tell a child what to do?, you don't just throw something away you fix it, we don't run away from trauma, if human beings kill every day to satisfy their own agendas how is an android an exception to serve its primary function?
    The suspense is chilling, the doll gives the right amount of the chill factor with her deadpan eyes and ability to look and sound real, the movie has sharp cinematography, and not afraid to laugh at itself on occasion
    Megan is an amazing effect given she's brought to life by state of the art animatronics and motion capture technology
    Gemma and Cady are really good together although it does get uncomfortable when Cady develops an attachment more to Megan than her aunt herself
    Megan ends up being more the parent than anything and Gemma sees this as an obstruction of her niece developing on her own more of a distraction not a solution
    Think of this as 'Chucky' meets 'Terminator' with a familiar cautionary tale of the horrors of modern robotics
    We can take away from this that we can't input something so advanced and sophisticated without knowing the consequences later on
    Aside from an end stinger that could've been cut out, the film taking a while to get to the carnage, and not taking advantage of a gory-filled R rating Blumhouse Studios has made the first great flick of 2023
    Lots of satire and commentary with it sharply translates to the screen modern anxieties over the evolution of A.I. and children’s screen time
    Quite the exploration of humanity too mixed with machinery

    I need to check out Megan because it reminds of an episode of this Nickelodeon animated series called The Mighty B. There’s an episode called Bess-E where the main character Bessie Higgenbottom has a robot version of herself and it thinks it’s the real Bessie and all hell breaks loose.

    I like this movie I thought it was fun but I have to disagree with Korey about the trailer, they show every kill that happens in the movie. There is also an R-rated version that was cut down to make it PG-13 so that Blumhouse can make more money, it feels like the kills where really watered down as a result. I have to agree with Martin that it was very predictable but it was fun so if they make a sequel I hope they push the campy slasher angle of the movie.

    10:38 that's why you don't watch movie trailers, longer then 30 seconds. Hollywood sucks at making trailers when their longer then 30 seconds. Because they love to spoil the whole, or the best scenes of the movie. To draw your eyes addicted. But when it comes to either Thrillers, Horror,or scary. They love to show all the best scenes in their trailers.
    I saw a 30 seconds trailer of this movie, loved it. Then easily avoid watching any more spoilers of it.
    And today I just watched it and really enjoyed it.

Whenever you have a lily white movie that can get a black audience attention,you have an hit that will have legs. The only thing I believe they missed, was the assistant doing corporate espionage and what was his endgame. Other than that I truly enjoyed it and plan watching it a few more times

  • @MedalionDS9
    @MedalionDS9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This film is more divisive than I thought anybody would care to be...
    You have the m3gan stans who just fell in love with the trailers and the "dance" scene from it that won't shut up about the movie and character...
    then there is the rest of humankind who see this movie and see a mostly female gen Z Chucky as a robotic doll and want it to fail because of what I said.
    The movie was absolutely meant to be a serious take on the Killer Doll trope but turned viral hit because of the dance scene, and I am convinced the movie was edited at the last minute to seem more comedic and self-aware but the original was not meant to be that way so it will feel uneven.
