This is why I have made it simple and I dont give a single rupee to these beggars no matter how much they try and cry. Instead I try to pay generously to skilled labourers who do their job sincerely. Apart from that, my charity is better off if donated to the victims in Gaza.

More/all earning Pakistanis should do this instead of filling the pockets of this roadside mafia 🙏🏽.
I also have completly stopped donating to any charity who is spending in Pakistan for pakistani people. I think personally that our money is very well spend if we donate it for our actually HAQDAAR brothers and sisters in 1. Palestine, 2. Yemen, 3. Sudan. (18 million people face acute hunger in Sudan)

My mother haggle vegetable seller (who himself is poor and trying to make a living by selling vegetables) for 10 RS but she happily give a "haramkhor" beggar 50 RS. Because the beggar says things that satisfies my mother's ego and she gets instant gratification.

Sir, completely agree with you on this. Which is why I focus on giving this money to my house help instead. The only people I pay on the streets are old men who are past working age. I think the only way this could be done is by govt enforcement
I have thought about this for many years, I've concluded that begging isn't the root cause of this problem; fraud is. If we eliminate the fraud problem, the money and efforts will go where they're supposed to. The solution I've come up with is a nonprofit welfare organization with the purpose and resources to identify, investigate, and apprehend these fraudsters. This organization would raise awareness in society through social media and mainstream media, similar to TH-camrs' efforts but more organized and with strong backing from influential figures in society. In essence, it's an independent voluntary fraud police with SOPs and proper checks and balances. This could be a significant first step towards solving this problem, and once the fraud is addressed, the money will automatically go to people in need who are actually suffering in these hard times. This is just a starting point, but it could lead to many other improvements in our society. However, I'll leave it at that, as I doubt anyone will take action, and we'll likely be stuck with this problem for at least the next 15-20 years before any governmental organization even considers it.
I have seen a different category of beggars who were seemed selling different small items in the markets and many other public places like coloring books, socks, undershirts (Bunyan) etc and they emotionally blackmail you. I think we need to avoid these people too .

My suggesstions 1) All provisional govts should review and increase fines for aggresive begging at public place. 2) Traffic police should be deployed to main signals to disburse them 3) Install more cameras to identy, trace and arrest. 3) Arrest and punish their handers thorugh stricker legislation. very well compiled piece. I carried out a research study with my students, on an average a child beggar collects around Rs. 80,000/- per month minimum. this money is handed over to a collector. Sadly the authorities are also involved in this. one of the beggars told me he is a fruit merchant in his village (Tharparkar) and comes to Karachi (Tariq Road SIgnal) in off season for begging. SAY NO TO BEGGARS. STOP GIVING THEM MONEY.

I have thought about this for many years, I've concluded that begging isn't the root cause of this problem; fraud is. If we eliminate the fraud problem, the money and efforts will go where they're supposed to.
The solution I've come up with is a nonprofit welfare organization with the purpose and resources to identify, investigate, and apprehend these fraudsters. This organization would raise awareness in society through social media and mainstream media, similar to TH-camrs' efforts but more organized and with strong backing from influential figures in society.
In essence, it's an independent voluntary fraud police with SOPs and proper checks and balances. This could be a significant first step towards solving this problem, and once the fraud is addressed, the money will automatically go to people in need who are actually suffering in these hard times.
This is just a starting point, but it could lead to many other improvements in our society. However, I'll leave it at that, as I doubt anyone will take action, and we'll likely be stuck with this problem for at least the next 15-20 years before any governmental organization even considers it.
I have seen a different category of beggars who were seemed selling different small items in the markets and many other public places like coloring books, socks, undershirts (Bunyan) etc and they emotionally blackmail you. I think we need to avoid these people too .

My suggesstions
1) All provisional govts should review and increase fines for aggresive begging at public place.
2) Traffic police should be deployed to main signals to disburse them
3) Install more cameras to identy, trace and arrest.
3) Arrest and punish their handers thorugh stricker legislation. Extension to my point 1
4) Educate people (Eon is doing a great job), however main stream TV channels should do a free ad like PTV used to do during my childhood.
5) Educate and empower our civil servants, In Pakistan, if you are stoped by police they say ''DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM'' we must change that.

Sir I can resonate with every word you have said. Unfortunately, this has become such a nuisance in Pakistan. We cannot sit in the car and eat something, we cannot be at a signal in our own car, we cannot even walk on the footpath peacefully. It has become a real nuisance.

very well compiled piece. I carried out a research study with my students, on an average a child beggar collects around Rs. 80,000/- per month minimum. this money is handed over to a collector. Sadly the authorities are also involved in this. one of the beggars told me he is a fruit merchant in his village (Tharparkar) and comes to Karachi (Tariq Road SIgnal) in off season for begging.
