My dad and grandma listen to this on the radio in upper NY before television 📺 and then came onto television to them back then. Now I'm 50 and today wrestling and writing sux period
Very true. One of the few guys that was built exactly like him was Scott Norton, when he debuted for the AWA in 89. In fact he looked so much like Yukon Eric that Verne Gagne gave him the Yukon lumberjack gimmick.
This man’s upper chest was amazing . When he got hit on the chest he stood there and took it .his upper body was amazing . He walked around the ring like he owned it . When at 6:06 he pounded On his abs there was no effect . The guys fist hours and he shook it from the pain he inflicted that had no effect on his body . A mountain of muscle. He reminds of of a gorilla who walks around showing off his strength and manhood to all. His bear hug at 12: wreaked the guy to submit .
Yukon Erich could do a seated press behind the neck with the barbell started dead on his shoulders and pressed to complete lockout with 355 lbs. There were no steriods back then in the mid 1950s.
see, those young boys putting the ring back together during the match, that'S cause back then people knew how to work. the waythings are these days, they would have had to finish the match with just two ropes, wich is absurd
"Hans Schmidt" was a French Canadian boy from Joliet,Quebec. His real name was Guy Larose. There was another French Canadian performer,Ovelin Asselin (?),who sometimes used the ring name of "Guy Larose".Thus sometimes the real Guy Larose ("Hans Schmidt") squared off against the fake "Guy Larose" (Ovelin Asselin (?)).Doesn't get any stranger than that. According to a man I once Knew,"Schmidt",who was his neighbour, was a pretty decent guy-outside the ring,of course.
i always love to hear russ davis’s commentary
The Golden Age of Wrestling was truly golden. Russ Davis is the best.
Probably June 12, 1953.
Great match.
I can see where Schmidt got his reputation as a real badass. He looks like he works super stiff. No wonder wrestlers hated working with him.

HANS GEZ THE Flammenwerfer😂😂
Eric had one of the most impressive physique in wrestling.

Scott Norton was given the Lumberjack gimmick because of his resemblance to Yukon Eric .
@@jonathanturbide2232 Lol Jinx .... Don't forget Yukon John getting over with it too
Hope the tightened it this time!
Fun match, Schmidt (fellow Quebecer Guy Larose) was such a master at working the crowd. Great storytelling. 😊👍
"Working the crowd" -- it's creepy when non-athletes try to fake a sport.
That was set up to come unhooked, Lol! Funny!
ユーコンエリックってコワルスキーとの試合で耳を落とした人ですよね。
パワーファイターだったんですね。

Yukon Eric was a big ol hoss
🐂
The Yukon Territory is part of Canada not the US. Yukon Eric wanted to be associated with Canada a country he loved.
He got his first break in Toronto.
Hans was not German. Sad but heard Eric committed suicide
Juicy Dumpling At the church where he got married after divorce .
Shot himself in the mouth..... Terribly sad.
