Prior to being cast as Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia movies, Ben Barnes had fond memories of seeing Samuel West in the role in the 1989 BBC mini-series. In this video, the two actors meet and compare their experiences playing Caspian. They also discuss the possibility of another actor portraying the character in Netflix’s upcoming Narnia movies and series.

The interview I didnt know I needed, two actors that have played the same character but for different generations, I wonder if Ben Barnes took inspiration from Sam West during his time in the 2010 VDT film (loved the fact that Ben was geeking out over Sam, so cute)
Not gonna lie, I got sooooo excited when Ben said they’d been asked to cameo in the Netflix adaption… then he had to pull the rug out from under me😭😂

That last statement by Sam, about not having a sense of "being the best one" to play a character, fits perfectly with book Caspian's response when Aslan asked him "do you feel yourself sufficient to be King of Narnia?" When Caspian responded "No," Aslan approvingly told him that was good as, "If you had felt yourself sufficient, it would have been proof that you were not!"

Ben and Sam are so cute together. They both seem to have genuine excitement and love for the Chronicles of Narnia. I love it when actors are invested and interested in the entire fictional world that gave birth to their character not just what they are doing on screen. Ben Barnes seems to be doing the same with Shadow and Bone too, it's what makes him so perfectly cast in fantasy.
This warms my heart more than words can say, my goodness.
Love, love, love the BBC Narnia films. They are my favorite versions and I still go back to them even 30 years later and continue to thoroughly enjoy them.
I adore the BBC’s Narnia, as a kid in the 90’s in America my dad found them in tape format at our local library and I checked them out more than any other kid by the time the tapes were retired in the 00’s. I’m so excited for Netflix Narnia because of the chance that they may finally adapt my favorite book of the series The Horse and His Boy.
That’s exactly what happened with me. My dad found them at our library and I fell in love with them. I checked them out all the time

Thank you so much for this video! I am a huge fan of the Narnia series! I saw the Disney version when I was young, then the BBC version and the animated version as well as read the books when I was a preteen. Prior to Covid, I was in a play adaption of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; I was cast as Fenris Ulf, Father Christmas, and a Cruel. But we decided to try to reschedule due to conflicts and attempted to do the musical adaption that autumn. However, Covid cause it to never happen. I hope to one day to try be in it again, and this time actually perform it. Also I would love to see both of you make an appearance in the new Netflix version of the chronicles.
This actually surprised to see two actors who played the same Characters.
Ben should, at least, meet Richard Sushet or Joe Shaw, who voiced his character in the Focus on the Family Radio Theatre versions.

This is beyond awesome! I grew up with the BBC TV adaptations of Narnia as a kid in the 1980s and early 90s, and also loved the film series a generation later. All that's missing is an appearance by Jean Marc Perriet.
Wow the fact he has Reeps nose showing he clearly has love for the series and his part in it completes warms my heart. I like Ben adored the BBC versions growing up and they were magical
I grew up on the BBC version and love Ben even though the Disney PC and VotDT are some of my least favorite adaptations plot-wise so this makes my heart very very happy. If the full video interview is able to be released I would absolutely watch the whole thing, but thank you for sharing this
Oh, that was wonderful! Two great actors and two great adaptations of my favourite Narnia book. And the totally gorgeous character that is Caspian. Maybe next time he will look just like the Pauline Baines illustration?
Fan of the newer movies. Never see the BBC one. This was a great idea bringing these two together! I liked seeing the two actors/same character together.
